Canadian National Exhibition Sept 2nd 2011

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, recently hit up the CNE here in Toronto and figured I would share some of the pics with you guys.

Was only there for a few hours but would say that from the food and the rides, it was one of the better CNE's we've had in a while.

Here's the first part of the pics...the Food

Fried Food - Must be fair time

Really?

This should be someone's porn name

Yes, even Canadians are now frying everything

Home of the Krispy Kreme donut

Snooki would love this place

My dinner - Mac N Curds...fried of course

Guess with all the fried food spelling wasn't an issue

Was real good though

As was the pickle

But the main star of the show was from here

Deep fried Cola (they weren't allowed to use the "Coke" name as coke didn't want to be associated with unhealthy food here). Would've been good if it wasn't for the fact it was burnt to a crisp.

Part 2.....Fun with Sand

The sand sculptures were amazing this year.

This was all kinds of weird

Not sure the meaning of it

But it did have boobs so that's a plus

Now, looking at this, what do you think would be on the other side?

Ya, not what I was expecting either, but still awesome!

Any idea who this is supposed to be?

Again...what?

A dragon shield

Nice kitty

Not sure why, but this looks very dirty to me

Real nice lighting package

Always good when this type of zipper is up

This was themed to Nascar. Is it supposed to simulate a crash or something?

Hi Mr Bear. Enjoying yourself?

Fun with Fireworks mode

This is what it should look like

Chaos

'

A game based on violence against women? Sure, only if I can get a knock off Hello Kitty

Best named game and best water gun game EVER!

You had to shoot the target that's lit up. Real fun actually.

No CNE is complete without Tiny Tom Donuts

An artsy shot to end my TR. Thanks for viewing everyone. Till next year.

Ah, but did you try the Krispy Kreme bacon cheeseburger?

^When they profiled this on the news, it's the cola syrup that they deep fry. Think of it as adding cola flavor to a funnel cake, if that makes sense?

I still have so many mixed feelings about the Ex. The midway seems to have become worse over the years, especially since Conklin is no longer around. I really miss the Dopple Looper, the Blauer Enzian over two pools of water, the Wild Cat coasters (Wild Cat and Mark IV??) and some of the crazy old school rides. They seem to only change one ride each year but otherwise keep it the same. With the exception of the Zipper and Fire Ball loop, everything is quite generic for a fair of this size and scope.

On the other hand, the food, showcases, air show and competitions are always full value.

Fried Food - Must be fair time

no wonder many poeple are so fat over there....

A german Currywurst with Pommes is diet food compared to that.....and the size of the dish you got....is that a family dish???

But looks like a good fair with some classic american rides.

^^You're thinking America and not Canada as far as obese people.

But the fact that Canada is so close to the US, I think they're starting to pick up a lot of our bad habits, including all of the deep fried food and fast food combined with lack of exercise.

When I was in Toronto a couple of weeks ago, I did not notice nearly as many morbidly obese people as say when we visited Dollywood where there was a slowwwww mob rush for the scooter rentals at the gate (and they were not senior citizens or handicap people).

Anyway...nice report. I agree that the CNE isn't nearly as cool as it used to be because it's pretty much the same thing year after year. Love the food pavilion though!

The EX has kinda lost it's lusture for me over the years. I don't even bother getting a ride's pass anymore and rather spend my time in the buildings (all the outlets are awesome), eating food, and playing the $1 games.

I tried the deep fried butter this year and was pleastly surprised; tasted just like a timbit. And from what I remember hearing last year one deep fried butter ball is less calories than one sour cream glazed timbit (my favourite).

Also tried the deep fried coke, which was meh for me. Way too sweet and not much flavor. For those wondering, they make it by mixing concentrated coke syrup into the batter and then dropping it into the deep fryer.

I was hoping they would still have the chocolate covered bacon, but couldn't find it anywhere. Also really wanted to try the Behemoth burger (the buns are two texas toast grilled cheese sandwhiches), but the line was way too long and couldn't find someone willing to share.
