robman
]On Sunday 8/7/11 I went to Great America for TPR day at the park. Canobie Coaster
Great trip report. How is Flight Deck compared to B&M's other inverts?
Nibbler
there's a lot more walls for CarnEVIL stored backstage of showtime theater
robman
^^This is going to be sad but I have never been on any other B&M inverts. From what I here Flight Deck is one of the most intense ones out there compared to the newer ones built.
harper83087
^ I think it's safe to say "The older the better" with B&M's inverts. I haven't been on many but I have been on two of the B:TR's (SFGAm and SFMM), Raptor and Great Bear. Great Bear is fun but meh and Raptor and the Batmans pack a punch. I can't wait to get on Flight Deck and Afterburn at Carowinds, both look awesome and intense.
Canobie Coaster
I've been on a couple of B&M inverts and have had a blast on all of them. Of the ones I've been on, I'd rate them like this... 1) Dragon's Challenge- Fire (incredibly forceful from start to finish and the dueling aspect is great) 2) Dragon's Challenge- Ice (just a bit worse than fire thanks to a dull finale) 3) Batman- the Ride (super forceful and great pacing make it one of my favorites) 4) Talon (no MCBR and forceful inversions make for a great ride) 5) Great Bear (fairly forceful and fun layout, but a bit short) 6) Alpengeist (other than the great first drop, I honestly found Alpengeist forceless- I'd take it over almost any other looper for sure, but it's just not as good as the other inverts without a doubt) I've found all of the B&Ms except Alpengeist and Great Bear to be very forceful, so that's good to hear about Flight Deck. Hopefully I get a chance to ride it someday, along with that GCI if it ever gets built.
harper83087
^Wow!! I must be completely out of it today.... ....completely forgot I've been on Alpie and the Dragons...
alpengeist04
Thanks for the TR, glad to hear the day was a blast. Great trip report. How is Flight Deck compared to B&M's other inverts? I would put it in the upper half of B&M inverts. ...Not only is it easily the best coaster at CGA, it's one of the best in the state of California. A very underrated ride, imo. robman
What most people don't realize is that it packs a big punch knowing its not that long of a coaster. I've heard people that have black out on Flight Deck!
harper83087
Again speaking from pictures and videos on my part but if that helix over the water is anything like Raptors final helix then yes, blacking/graying out could be common. I love a good ol' forceful helix.
Evanaj15
Did you hear anything about the rumors about this being CGA's last season?
robman
^Nope we did here that Cedar Fair does have plans for the park. That the corporate people went out to the park and looked at the Invertigo site and supposedly have plans. Thats all we heard from them.
Flagg O'Dim
Great pictures and video! I'm digging that new hearse. I wonder when it's going to get a Haunt makeover? ^Nope we did here that Cedar Fair does have plans for the park. That the corporate people went out to the park and looked at the Invertigo site and supposedly have plans. Thats all we heard from them. What the park told you guys almost sounds word by word from what they were telling us back in January...I'm starting to doubt if these "plans" have substance. robman
Thank You! I doubt we will ever know until something is offically announced. I guess some good news is that they did say attendance is up in the park. About the hearse they never said what they were going to do with it besides that its for Haunt. I would guess that it would be going in a scare zone. *Edit* I added a picture of the things the park gave us. Thank you again to the park for giving us all of these things! From left to right a road wheel from Invertigo that my brother took, a guide wheel that I took a note pad with the parks logo some Bonfante Gardens cards and a FireFall first rider t-shirt. Angry_Gumball
Awesome, I need to look through the rest of these TR's...fun to look at it through someone else's POV, and maybe snag a few photos of me doing something as I'm always behind the camera in my shots. Or perhaps they are waiting until this season is over before announcing anything in order to drum up interest for next season... Looks like it was a fun event. Kudos to the park for putting it on. I really hope CGA will have something new next year for a future TPR event!

They actually told us that season pass purchases have gone up this year because of the buy a day get a season pass promotion that they had going on.
