You have one week to live and are given the chance to ride any roller coaster in the world, any time throughout history. Which coaster would you go ride one last time? I would go back in time and ride Flashback at SFMM (1992-2003) one last time. Sure it banged your head around, but the hairpin drops literally made your stomach drop.

For those of you that don't know, Flashback, also known as Z-Force before it was moved to MM, was an Intamin "Space Dive" coaster designed by Werner Stengel. You'll notice the track and trains look similar to those found on B&M coasters today. This is because the track and trains were built by steel manufacturer Giovanola and designed by two of their employees, named Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard. Giovanola was the exclusive track and train supplier for Intamin in the 1980's. This is also why the three coasters built by Giovanola themselves: Goliath, Titan, and Anconda, all have the same box spine track.

I never got to ride the original Colossus, so I would choose that.

Original Colossus was awesome, even after they ruined it by leveling off the valley between the two camelback hills after the third drop and installing block brakes in 1991 and also replacing the Philly Toboggan trains for Morgan ones 1987. Boooo!!!!! Make sure you go back to when it opened in 1978 for a real bad donkey coaster ride.

You can see the camelback here:

I really liked this ride when it was at Six Flags over Georgia. I lived a 1/2 a mile from the park so I was there every day riding it.

The (original) Bat at Kings Island instantly comes to mind. Watching some of the videos of how much that thing swung makes it my choice. Drachen Fire always interested me as well.

This thing was just crazy.. makes me want to try dodonpa as well.

On that note, Hypersonic is mine too. Always wanted to be shot off an aircraft carrier, and the launch is most of the way there. Personally no interest in going to Japan so Dodonpa is not on my list.

^Hypersonic was pretty awesome the first few seasons. Ridiculous launch, ejector air, and smooth. Then it got really terrible, with so much wobble in the train you could bash your head against the back of the seat.

My pick is Drachen Fire.

Montezooma's Revenge at Knott's uses an actual aircraft carrier catapult.

Aircraft carriers use steam, much like S&S's compressed air launch systems and the G's/forces pulled far exceed any coaster's launch. I thought that was a flywheel unless I've been horribly misinformed.

Growing up 15 minutes away from SFGA- if I could go back in time, I'd pick Lightnin' Loops! At the time (as a kid) I LOVED the anxiety of walking (or running if no crowd) up those steps to the top....and when there was a wait, seeing all the "virgins" get nervous waiting, when the staircase would shake due to the launch!

Always went "red track" of course (higher of the two loops). Back in the day, this was "state of the art" believe it or not!

That said- I guess I can road trip Frontier City if I REALLY wanted to go on it.....and I believe the other loop was scraped.

Realistically, Big Thunder at WDW as I might be able to handle that until my late 80's, But in general, even though I haven't ridden it...HELIX!

This was a large consideration of mine as well: what's the re-rideability of that single coaster. For me, Diamondback at Kings Island. For coasters I've yet to go on, I'd hope for California Screamin'.

The cable and "bob" are from a real aircraft carrier.
