The starflyer ride was great and the thing that made it great was the fact that my five year old daughter was able to ride with us and she loved it. The park itself has a weird layout and all but its a great park and most of the rides there, we were all able to ride together.

BTW- does anyone know where I can find pics of the stand up version of the River Mine coaster?? I was wondering what it looked like.

Nice trip report from my now former home park. SFStL is definitely one of my favorites in the chain, and it looks like you still had a good time despite that literally suffocating heat St. Louis is known for in the summertime.

Oh, and this:

Just...no. This looks like wet Alpo dog food that's been left sitting out overnight.

Nice report! This park was my college "home park" and man, it has improved so much since then. I do remember seeing newspaper ads for the "Rail Blazer..." Very sad story. And I'm really glad to hear the former "Time Tunnel" dark ride is now a very cool floating shooter.

So do we need to start a Facebook campaign or something to just banish all Gerstlauer wooden trains forever? (To be fair, they weren't so bad on Twisted Sisters (yeah, you heard me, Dee Snider), but they KILLED me on The Villain...)

And your daughter is adorable!

Thank's for all the compliments.

I almost forgot to add pictures of the rest of the park. Here they are, enjoy.

Next up, I will post our trip to worlds of fun.

Good to see park reports for places people seem to ignore!

The drunken barrels haven't operated in quite a few years sadly. They were very fun when I rode them in 95. I think they closed before 99.

As for Superman it was relocated from Houston when Astroworld bit the dust.

I hope I can make it out there this year. I LOVE Evel Thunder!

Mr. Freeze melted eh? That't too bad they didn't have the A/C turned on. SFOT also seems to ignore turning on the A/C except for when the switch to full week op or it's just really really hot outside.

Nonetheless, thanks for the report, glad you had fun.

Nice TR! SFStL really is a great park.

And for those wondering about which side was the stand up side, it isn't the one that's still at the park. It's now Big Bad John at Magic Springs. Someone fell out of the ride when it had the stand up trains and they removed soon after to make room for Ninja.

Incorrect.

The current River King Mine Train (the north side) was Rail Blazer in 1984, while the old (south side) track remained the Mine Train.

Then after '84 season, both sides were re-opened as the RKMT until the 1988 season when the south track was SBNO, before it was moved to Dollywood for the '89 season as Thunder Express. It moved to Magic Springs in 2002.

Great photos of what's still one of the best Six Flags parks. I never realized before that they're using the wrong graphic for the Superman tower. It's an Intamin Giant Drop, but they just reused the sign from the S&S Combo Tower at Six Flags over Texas. Oh well, I guess it's to be expected from a company that's wrapping their coasters in bus ads.

I was actually dissapointed in this ride. There was zero airtime, the first drop was also weak. The only good part of the ride was the helix/turnaround.

^Worlds of Fun's Corkscrew also ran those same trains at one point, when it was named Extremeroller. I'm pretty sure that E.X.T and the Mine Train were the only two times Arrow ever tested out the stand-up concept. LINK

Actually, if you compare those trains on EXT to Rail Blazer, they have different restraints for the legs. Very interesting.
