triggernel
Souvenier cups work at all Six Flags parks, correct? This trip report came at the perfect time. We were just planning a trip down there. Thanks!
Amy Baby
The starflyer ride was great and the thing that made it great was the fact that my five year old daughter was able to ride with us and she loved it. The park itself has a weird layout and all but its a great park and most of the rides there, we were all able to ride together. BTW- does anyone know where I can find pics of the stand up version of the River Mine coaster?? I was wondering what it looked like.
Pirouettes907
Nice trip report from my now former home park. SFStL is definitely one of my favorites in the chain, and it looks like you still had a good time despite that literally suffocating heat St. Louis is known for in the summertime. Oh, and this: Just...no. This looks like wet Alpo dog food that's been left sitting out overnight.
RoCo
Nice report! This park was my college "home park" and man, it has improved so much since then. I do remember seeing newspaper ads for the "Rail Blazer..." Very sad story. And I'm really glad to hear the former "Time Tunnel" dark ride is now a very cool floating shooter. So do we need to start a Facebook campaign or something to just banish all Gerstlauer wooden trains forever? (To be fair, they weren't so bad on Twisted Sisters (yeah, you heard me, Dee Snider), but they KILLED me on The Villain...) And your daughter is adorable! thrillrider
Thank's for all the compliments. I almost forgot to add pictures of the rest of the park. Here they are, enjoy. Next up, I will post our trip to worlds of fun. Batman doing it's thing. Picture of outside of the station. Twisted. Why is it that they make you walk 30 miles before you reach the rides station? Random theaming while in line. Inside the bat cave. Fun in the gift shop. My daughter trying to do an impression of Rob, but not realizing what she is point to. Boob credit. You are here.......> Mr freeze. Station shot. For being Mr freeze, it was actualy very hot in the station. Ice bat says hi. I thought this was a family park, not a park for making familys? Huge ass transformer. That's it from six flags, next up will be worlds of fun.
Zingoman
Good to see park reports for places people seem to ignore! The drunken barrels haven't operated in quite a few years sadly. They were very fun when I rode them in 95. I think they closed before 99. As for Superman it was relocated from Houston when Astroworld bit the dust. I hope I can make it out there this year. I LOVE Evel Thunder! Edited July 20, 2011 by Zingoman
chadster
Mr. Freeze melted eh? That't too bad they didn't have the A/C turned on. SFOT also seems to ignore turning on the A/C except for when the switch to full week op or it's just really really hot outside. Nonetheless, thanks for the report, glad you had fun. thrillrider
Any idea why they no longer run the drunken barrel ride?
Mrlittle
I figure they would of painted Mr. Freeze the same colors of SFOT. I was supposed to go to Six Flags St. Louis this summer but we changed our plans. Looks like a fun park though.
MisterP
Nice TR! SFStL really is a great park. And for those wondering about which side was the stand up side, it isn't the one that's still at the park. It's now Big Bad John at Magic Springs. Someone fell out of the ride when it had the stand up trains and they removed soon after to make room for Ninja. Incorrect. The current River King Mine Train (the north side) was Rail Blazer in 1984, while the old (south side) track remained the Mine Train. Then after '84 season, both sides were re-opened as the RKMT until the 1988 season when the south track was SBNO, before it was moved to Dollywood for the '89 season as Thunder Express. It moved to Magic Springs in 2002.

Zingoman
It turns out there is a photo on TPR of the stand up trains on the mine ride. http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/photo.php?linkid=4083&pageid=
Jalek
Great photos of what's still one of the best Six Flags parks. I never realized before that they're using the wrong graphic for the Superman tower. It's an Intamin Giant Drop, but they just reused the sign from the S&S Combo Tower at Six Flags over Texas. Oh well, I guess it's to be expected from a company that's wrapping their coasters in bus ads.

thrillrider
They kind of look like a Togo stand up train.
simon8899
Why is it that they make you walk 30 miles before you reach the rides station? Well because guests riding rides too often cost too much - and this way even when the park is empty you bloodsucking guest don't ride too much.... A.J.
It turns out there is a photo on TPR of the stand up trains on the mine ride. http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/photo.php?linkid=4083&pageid=51 Whoa! That's so strange! That must mean that those trains were completely custom.
BigDipper 80
^Worlds of Fun's Corkscrew also ran those same trains at one point, when it was named Extremeroller. I'm pretty sure that E.X.T and the Mine Train were the only two times Arrow ever tested out the stand-up concept. LINK Photo courtesy of RCDB. thrillrider
The first instalment of worlds of fun pictures... The view of mamba from our hotel room. Our first coaster in the park was mamba. I was actually dissapointed in this ride. There was zero airtime, the first drop was also weak. The only good part of the ride was the helix/turnaround. Station shot. I got the feeling of sitting in a bath tub when I sat down in mamba. It is a pretty train though. Fury of the nile was not open yet. What fun!!! 100 degree heat, no shade, and lots of blacktop. Yep, it's a cedarfair park. The parks drop tower. Angry birds....the games. Cedarfair makes there own potato chips. They are actually really good. New for this year was planet snoopy. More pictures of this area comming later. There is a credit in there. Num...num...num Station shot. Not a bad invert, but not the best eather. Maybe in a few more years. Station shot The coaster swoops down right next to the ferris wheel. Lift hill. If I had to rank inverts, I would place patriot below talon. Cyclone sams is an indoor trabant ride. While waiting in line, you get to watch a video of the cloudpoofer. Here is the cloudpoofer machine inside. It was so freaking hot. Thank god for free cups of ice water. I love this show. The seating area. Very cool. There is a meet and greet after the show. Time for the all you can eat backyard bbq. Not a bad deal. With our platinum pass, it was only about $9. Only in America, would you find exit sign in an open aired picinic pavilion. We were going to ride the flying duchman..... But it was closed. I'll stick to the free ice water. They have a shop where everything is $5 or less. I was able to score a shirt in here. Le taxi is the parks classic car ride. More pictures of worlds of fun comming soon. thrillrider
More.... In my opinion, the best coaster in the park. First drop from the back side. Station shot. A very twisted layout. In case you forget what ride you are on, they put the name right on the front for all to see. Lots of airtime as well. Lift hill shot. Did it just once for the credit. Station Yep....it's a boomerang. This ride did not swing out like other rides of it's kind. Ride in action Control booth. Spinning dragons was a blast. From the line, you can see the old station for orient express. Station and lift Control panel. Lots of twisting going on. Noted. The well thought out named ride "thunderhawk", was closed. Fun with the ape. Zulu Plenty more pictures to come soon.
