pianojohn
Hey gang! I am heading to Austin next weekend to play a gig, and I plan on hitting some parks in San Antonio on Sunday and Monday. My game plan is Schlitterbahn Sunday from opening til about 3pm then off to Sea World from about 5-close. Monday I plan to tackle Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I have already purchased my Schlitterbahn and Six Flags tix at a discount (Thanks Club TPR!) and my platinum pass will get me into Sea World for free. Any suggestions on what I should hit and in what order? Since I have never been to any of these parks, I don't want to waste time wandering around trying to find coaster entrances. Also, what coasters (mostly at SFFT) tend to have the longest lines? I will be going on a Monday, so I'm hoping lighter crowds than a weekend day. Sea World I am basically stopping at for the coaster credits. If it's anything like Sea World here in Orlando, the coasters are never that crowded. Thanks! chadster
Hi John, You'll love Schlitterbahn, I haven't been to that one, from what I understand, you may even wish you had an extra day to spend there! The folks at Schlitterbahn really treat their guests well, you will have a great time. As far as Sea World is concerned, keep in mind the coasters close before the park does. Being the expected hotter weather, JTA will be crowded and well worth the one time QQ pass which you can get from Guest Services when you enter the park, turn to the left it's in a barn looking thing. It's not good for the front row on the Great White or Steel E, Shamu on the other hand, well, it might get you in the front row Depending on how many re-rides you want, you will only need 90 min to 2 hours in the park. SFFT has the worst operations in the chain IMO. If you get there early, here is what I would do. Hit the Boomerang, you'll run straight into it. Next, go right and head to Rattler, it tends to have the longest lines and slowest op's. After that, swing next door grab the mine train, followed by Superman. On the way out of Superman and toward the boardwalk you'll run into a kiddie. At this point the back of the park should be open for Tony Hawk/Big Spin/Panda/ followed by Polter. After that the lines should have migrated somewhat away from Goliath. One thing you should count on is single train op except on Tony Hawk/Big Spin/Panda/ and Superman. Hopefully everyone will be in the waterpark and leave the rides to you Hope that somewhat helps!
SharkTums
Doesn't SFFT have Flashpass? I would invest in that knowing how hot and crowded it will be!
DerekRx
^If it still does that's the route I would definitely go. Gold Flashpass everything, wait for your ride time (if any wait) in the air conditioned Festhaus while enjoying a Shiner Bock. The only coaster that won't be on the Flashpass is the kiddie. chadster
Oh for sure they have flashpass, however, I would for sure check which rides are on it first. I've noticed that often Rattler is not on it and depending on the day, some of the other coasters are not on it. I think last July when I looked they only offered like 8 rides, and none of them had the line to justify the pass. Basically, if it's 100+ outside on a Monday, few show up. pianojohn
Thanks for all the great advice! If anyone is in the area and wants to meet up, just send me a pvt message. Looking forward to some more credits!
coasterbear30
When we were there in April we went to SFFT on a Friday when kids were still in school and we waited until later to ride Rattler. That was a huge mistake. It ended up being an hour and a half wait for the shittiest wooden coaster I have ever ridden. Definitely hit that and the Boomerang first. After that I would hit Poltergeist and wait til the end of your day/credit run to hit Goliath. It was only running one train and every other train they would just send everyone in the flash pass line. It was REALLY frustrating. The entire park did this almost all day with the flash passes. They would let a whole train fill up with whoever was waiting in the FP line.
DJeXeL
Superman:Krypton Coaster alone is worth a visit to the park. Hands down the best Floorless I've been on. If that same chick from summer of '08 is still there checking restraints by herself you won't have longer than a 20minute wait.
