Six Flags Over Georgia (SFOG) Discussion Thread

So, how does it work to get the 2020 cups? My friends and I got memberships in July of last year and there was a deal going, so we get the memberships until October of this year. So we have the red 2019 cups... Do we have to bring those with us and exchange them for the new ones? Or can we just use our current ones?

If you have a red membership cup it is valid indefinitely. You can use either the old version or the new version. Your membership entitles you to a new cup once per calendar year but if you ask at member services they will probably just give you one (provided you have platinum or higher membership).

I'm pretty sure the changed the cup design this year, it's even smaller now.
Not at home to get a pic, but the lid is very different.

Season mug, not member but only difference is color.

Just measured and holds the same amount.

Yup, we have platinum memberships. Thanks for the additional info!

Well now they've closed til April.

It's likely to be longer then April.

Perhaps, just posting what they've announced.

At the time I posted it was only a few of the SF parks, not all.

But Atlanta will warm earlier than many places and I expect the situation will change the before colder climates.

Spoiler: They will open when everything else does. And one no knows when that will be yet. Apply this to all parks not named Fun Spot, Kemah, etc.

They were well behind other parks, but once Disney closed it was just a matter of time before everyone else followed.

But I don't think all areas will open at same time.

Disney/Universal will be among the last because so my visitors travel from far away.

But I expect SF will follow local conditions more closely since they don't get as many that aren't locals.

Weather/climate has already proven not to deter this from spreading. The # of cases in FL (where I live) have almost doubled since Friday, where it's been in the upper 80s/90s depending on where you are in the state. It's in South America and Australia where it's currently summer.

Heat and humidity and sunshine will slow the spread. We know the family well (SARS, MERS, and the 4 long in circulation that nobody knows by name). UV from sunshine kills it. Heat kills it. Humidity cause it to fall and not stay airborne.

The current rising numbers are more about finally getting tests than spread.

For those of you on Facebook, there is a group page dedicated to the history of SFoG. With so many of us under stay at home orders, many awesome vintage photos are being dug up and posted of this park. Just look up "Six Flags over Georgia History" and join. I am seeing stuff I have not seen since I was seven years old!

There are no dates listed for 2021 either so they're probably closed forever. The app is all-knowing.

Don't forget the app can also show the temperature at the park... Which helps determine if the virus dies from heat when it get's to the park.

So do we think this park will open in a few weeks? My park travels got ruined in April and May and I am trying to scrap together a couple now. Atlanta airport is so easy for flights so I wanna check this park out in June if possible.

My guess would be that texas and georgia will be the next two parks to open. So if things at frontier city go well in a few days i could see a mid-late june for texas and georgia. Complete speculation though

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced he is allowing amusement parks to reopen as early as June 12 (Friday). It remains to be seen if that date is when SFoG and White Water actually do open. IMHO the park (and really any other park) planning on reopening should do so on a Monday. This will keep the attendance very light and give the park a chance to see what works and what does not as attendance gradually ramps up toward the weekend.

My opinion is they will open close to that date. SFoG is the biggest theme park in the state so no way he made this decision without talking to them.

They may push it to monday to say they are going above and beyond but by June 15th SFoG will be open. Hurricane harbor and white water I'm not so sure. Lazy River and Wave Pools are crowded normally....

SFOG was one of the parks originally on my 2020 Coaster Extravaganza (RIP), so I am definitely interested in seeing how things go there, as we just might go on down, assuming that I keep my SF passes active this year, instead of just writing it off and waiting until next year. Still haven't ever been, and I'd love to check it out!
