Six Flags Over Georgia (SFOG) Discussion Thread

Looks great ! I love looking at babes on a coaster Nice addition, it's been awhile for SFOG, got to hit it this year. Maybe I'll meet one of those babes!

If you do - I'd recommend not calling them "babes" to their face .

Coaster looks even better in person. Wish it had been completed when I was there on Easter, but it looked great!

Got a chance to ride during media day today. It's a fun ride, especially the first drop and the barrel roll. LOVE the lap bar only trains. Not sure this thing is going to be "big enough" capacity wise for the park though. I can see this getting huge lines just due to that. Overall though a good addition to the park

Just got back from a weekend at SFOG. The park was great -not too crowded, friendly employees everywhere, good efficiency on rides, etc.

Wanted to give everyone a heads up about Dare Devil Dive. In order to ride everyone must reserve a time. It is similar to the Ticket To Ride program Cedar Point did when Millennium Force opened... starting at park open they give everyone an one hour time frame to return between (they stamp your arm). When you return you are allowed in the queue - this was the only way to to ride during the day. It actually worked out quite well. We got our stamp around noon for 4-5pm and walked by shortly after 4pm to see a 60min wait, decided to grab some food and came back around 4:45 and only had to wait 30 mins... not too bad for a holiday weekend/second day of operation for a new ride!

So this means if you get there too late in the day and they run out of tickets, you can't ride? It's nice that the system reduces lines, but it would be a bummer if you didn't know this system was going on and there was no way to ride because of it.

I live about ten minutes away from SFOG and have a season pass, so I go there like twice a week. Expect a lot of SFOG updates from me!

I rode this ride 3 times today and I have to say the combination of smoothness, comfortable restraints, and exciting inversions with great airtime make this one of the best rides in the park. It's capacity could spell doom for it though.

I rode Dare Devil Dive twice and I don't think the capacity is a problem, granted there are only four cars on the ride. The line moved pretty well even though the queue was only three switchbacks before the ramp to the station and the crew was good with dispatches.

Being my first Gerstlauer Euro-fighter, I was pretty impressed with it. Very smooth and ultra-quiet. Laughed all the way through the ride.

I definitely enjoyed Dare Devil Dive when I visited last week. To sum it up, it's really just a fun smooth ride. But really the best part right now is that there's shorter lines for Goliath, Mind Bender, Batman, and Scorcher . ...Which are still the best 4 coasters in the park.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/worlds-first-water-park-virtual-queue-system-debuts-at-six-flags-white-water-125003399.html

Six Flags Atlanta Properties and Lo-Q plc have once again teamed up to introduce the newest technology in virtual queuing designed to shorten wait times for guests at the Southeast's largest water park, Six Flags White Water.

The virtual queuing system, aptly dubbed The FLASH Pass after the popular system used at Six Flags theme parks, utilizes a revolutionary new RFID wristband that is lightweight and waterproof. Guests can use The FLASH Pass wristband to reserve a "virtual" place in line at the park's most popular slides. When the reservation time arrives, guests enter via a separate entrance, avoiding the need to stand in line.

"Six Flags Over Georgia debuted the world's first theme park virtual queuing system ten years ago," said Melinda Ashcraft, Six Flags Atlanta Properties Park President. "It is certainly fitting that Six Flags White Water would be the world's first water park to feature this exciting new technology."

Six Flags White Water is open daily through August 14 while weekends-only operations continue through September 5, 2011.

Argh, I was at Six Flags Over Georgia the day before it debuted. I shall make a trip back there soon, if I can.

This does look like a very interesting system. Less time in line, more time in the wave pool and lazy river! (Or other slides.)

I went to Six Flags Over Georgia yesterday. After a slow start (I couldn't find the glasses strings anywhere), the day turned around. I ended going on 20 rides and got two new credits!!.

Goliath 2

Dare Devil Dive 2 (new!)

Georgia Scorcher 1

Mindbender 2

Batman: The Ride 1

Dahlonega Mine Train 1

The Great American Scream Machine 1

Superman: Ultimate Flight 1

Georgia Cyclone 1

Ninja 6 (new!)

I can see what you mean by Ninja being the roughest steel coaster. (Only in the second row of a car.) The new train really did help, though.

The lines were awful in the morning but they died down near the late afternoon. Batman's line is terrible. Six Flags needs to learn how to cover their lines like Busch Gardens does.

All and all, it was a good day.

I definetly agree that Dare Devil Dive is good ride but the intensity of it is nothing compared to the other rides. The lapbars make the ride experiance alot better than mystery mine in Dollywood. Not one of Gertalauers best Eurofighters. I mean the dive loop isnt even completely upside down. The roll at the end of the ride is the best part. Also the lines for all of the actually good rides are nothing now so i do appreciate the ride being there.

Six Flags Over Georgia has sent us a press release regarding its 100,000th rider on Dare Devil Dive.

Less than 45 days after its grand opening at Six Flags Over Georgia, DARE DEVIL DIVE thrilled its 100,000th rider on Friday, July 8 sending 11 year-old Chase of Lakeland, Florida down the spine-tingling 95 degree drop.

To celebrate this milestone, Six Flags Over Georgia awarded Chase and his family with a free V.I.P. Tour for the remainder of their visit. A V.I.P. Tour includes front-of-the-line access, a personal escort and unlimited food and drinks.

“We are extremely happy to announce this great milestone” said Melinda Ashcraft, Park President. “DARE DEVIL DIVE is a wonderful addition to our park and the 100,000th rider represents the success this exciting coaster has achieved.”

On Saturday, July 23, Six Flags Over Georgia will bring We The Kings, The Summer Set and Downtown Fiction live in concert as part of the STARBURST ® Summer Concert Series. Mike Posner will perform live at the park on Sunday, July 31.

The park is open daily through August 14 and resumes weekend operations through October 30. Operating hours vary by day. For more information and to save $15 on a one-day admission ticket, visit http://www.sixflags.com/overgeorgia.
