CoasterGuy06 Posted May 26, 2011 Share Posted May 26, 2011 Got a chance to ride during media day today. It's a fun ride, especially the first drop and the barrel roll. LOVE the lap bar only trains. Not sure this thing is going to be "big enough" capacity wise for the park though. I can see this getting huge lines just due to that. The park was great -not too crowded, friendly employees everywhere, good efficiency on rides, etc. Wanted to give everyone a heads up about Dare Devil Dive. In order to ride everyone must reserve a time. It is similar to the Ticket To Ride program Cedar Point did when Millennium Force opened... starting at park open they give everyone an one hour time frame to return between (they stamp your arm). When you return you are allowed in the queue - this was the only way to to ride during the day. It actually worked out quite well. We got our stamp around noon for 4-5pm and walked by shortly after 4pm to see a 60min wait, decided to grab some food and came back around 4:45 and only had to wait 30 mins... not too bad for a holiday weekend/second day of operation for a new ride! So this means if you get there too late in the day and they run out of tickets, you can't ride? It's nice that the system reduces lines, but it would be a bummer if you didn't know this system was going on and there was no way to ride because of it. Bizarro Hawg Posted June 20, 2011 Share Posted June 20, 2011 I live about ten minutes away from SFOG and have a season pass, so I go there like twice a week. Expect a lot of SFOG updates from me! I rode this ride 3 times today and I have to say the combination of smoothness, comfortable restraints, and exciting inversions with great airtime make this one of the best rides in the park. Geauga Dog Posted June 20, 2011 Share Posted June 20, 2011 I rode Dare Devil Dive twice and I don't think the capacity is a problem, granted there are only four cars on the ride. The line moved pretty well even though the queue was only three switchbacks before the ramp to the station and the crew was good with dispatches. But really the best part right now is that there's shorter lines for Goliath, Mind Bender, Batman, and Scorcher . ...Which are still the best 4 coasters in the park. I ended going on 20 rides and got two new credits!!. Goliath 2 Dare Devil Dive 2 (new!) Georgia Scorcher 1 Mindbender 2 Batman: The Ride 1 Dahlonega Mine Train 1 The Great American Scream Machine 1 Superman: Ultimate Flight 1 Georgia Cyclone 1 Ninja 6 (new!) I can see what you mean by Ninja being the roughest steel coaster. (Only in the second row of a car.) The new train really did help, though. The lines were awful in the morning but they died down near the late afternoon. Batman's line is terrible. Six Flags needs to learn how to cover their lines like Busch Gardens does. krakenmaniac Posted July 9, 2011 Share Posted July 9, 2011 I definetly agree that Dare Devil Dive is good ride but the intensity of it is nothing compared to the other rides. The lapbars make the ride experiance alot better than mystery mine in Dollywood. Not one of Gertalauers best Eurofighters. I mean the dive loop isnt even completely upside down. The roll at the end of the ride is the best part. Also the lines for all of the actually good rides are nothing now so i do appreciate the ride being there.
