Tmcdllr
So at the mall across the street from my work, about 3 to 4 times a year they close off part of the parking lot for events. Sometimes its a circus, an RV sale, or a carnival. This past couple of weeks the carnival has been there and this time they brought with them this ride... I had to take the picture from across the street because I was "working" at the time, but in the center you can see a mini drop tower, its the thing with the red lights on top. I estimate it to be 50 feet tall, maybe taller- its hard to tell, don't know the make, but the cool thing I thought is just like the Intamin drop towers it has magnetic braking. I couldn't get close enough to take a pic but when I drove by earlier you could clearly see them on the bottom of the tower. So, would you ride it? I just might have to go over there on my lunch to try it!
MayTheGForceBeWithYou
They're portable Larson towers. I've been on them before.
Tmcdllr
After looking at it more I would say its closer to 40 feet, or about 4 stories tall. ^Yeah that's it, the Larson "Super Shot" or in this case maybe just the "Shot" Larson Super Shot Edited March 28, 2011 by Tmcdllr
rolercstrluvr
Is that the carnival at Oakridge mall? I was just there yesterday, it's an ok carnival needs more rides.
Tmcdllr
Haha, yeah it is. They are packing up now. Did you ride the drop tower?
rolercstrluvr
I did, scary as hell for such a small tower. Reason why it scared me was because you can't see when you get to the top.
kalikoasterman510
That looks like the same group that went through the spot in Oakland across from the Coliseum!
DarkStitch626
To think just a little while ago I was eating at I think its called BJ's Pizza? at that mall.I was in California for like a week. I LOVE fair ground drop towers to boot.

DJeXeL
I've had more airtime on these Carny drop towers than any S&S tower.
Pufferfish
^Yes indeed. Larson's towers are extremely powerful on the airtime. Very close to the same level most second gen Intamin towers give you. I really love the things.
samisthabomb
Yeah, I actually got more scared on OH-Zone at Lake Winnie than I did the first time I rode Superman Tower of Power at SFOT! Those things pack a punch. Probably my favorite portable drop tower.
Geauga Dog
Waldameer's X Scream is a Larson and is one of my favorites. That drop has quite a punch to it. Love the fact that you don't sit there at the top.
robman
I go to that mall a lot and always seem to see that fair around this time of year. I am always nervous to ride those portable towers because they scare the hell at me.
DJeXeL
Part of the thrill while sitting at the top is wondering "is this thing going to collapse?"
SoCalCoasters
Part of the thrill while sitting at the top is wondering "is this thing going to collapse?" Agreed The two most powerful drop towers I've been on were Larson, Drop Tower at the SD County Fair, and Zoom at Lakeside. Zoom was actually my first drop tower too! DJeXeL
Cliff Jumper at Scandia in Ontario gives some nice airtime as well.
