RoCo
Loving that TOT2 video a bit too much. That launch tunnel is TEH HOTNESS. Â I'm hoping our good friends at Magic Mountain are thinking about some further upgrades to ol' Supes... Â Also, koalas FTW!!!!!
robbalvey
I'm also curious does Giant Drop feel much different to the other 300+ foot drop towers? I personally favoured Blue Fall over Giant Drop, but I was in the minority of our group. I might be a little bit jadded when it comes to this huge drop towers having now been on Blue Fall and Hurkan Condor loads of times, I just didn't get that OMFG moment on Giant Drop, but I think it might be because I'm used to the feeling of the ride. Â It was still an great, awesome, amazing ride! Don't get me wrong. I just have been on this type of attraction too many times for it to freak me out! jynx242
Thank you guys for taking all of the photos and videos - it is appreciated. As always, it looks like an amazing time is being had by all. Â I freaking love kangaroo's!! I know they are probably the epitome of all that is evil or something, but I just think they are the coolest animals ever. I was definitely thinking that the additional what 60 feet of Giant Drop probably wouldn't add as much to the experience as the Blue Falls fake drops. That said I would love to go on either of the rides and need to find an opportunity to do so. Â Out of curiosity do you have any Intamin 2nd Gen Drops left at this point? doublestufforeo
Is ToT2 on the same tower that giant drop is? If so that's pretty interesting, and a great way to make use of the tower, do any other parks do that as well?
downunder
^Yes, they are both on the same tower, the Giant Drop was added later. I don't know of any parks that do this, given there are two Intamin reverse free-fall coasters in the world (the other at SFMM) - I guess no. I was definitely thinking that the additional what 60 feet of Giant Drop probably wouldn't add as much to the experience as the Blue Falls fake drops. I actually found the sides with the fake drops on Blue Fall pretty lame. The sides without it are AWESOME. Giant Drop is absolutely better than the fake drop Blue Fall version. aimster
Still loving this trip report! Â The photo of the kangaroo in the box is hilarious? What is that box exactly? The sign looks like it says "Self-Service kangaroo food?" I love kangaroos and wallabys. Obviously considering how many photos I take and post of them here when I go to Busch Gardens Tampa. I can easily spend HOURS in the kangaroo area watching them and feeding them and petting them. They're just so freaking AWESOME! Now they just need to get some koalas and wombats and I'd be a happy girl. Â BTW, you stole that baby koala for me, right?
Paul_Hollibone
When on the Giant Drop, one of the Best sensations (which you guys probably didn't get to experience) is when the Tower of Terror is launched whilst your are still ascending the tower. As the Tower of Terror pod hits that tower, you get a pretty shaken up experience which no other Drop ride can deliver. It's even better if your creeping the final few meters of the tower, waiting for the drop when it happens. On your first ride on it, it is a very "WTF" experience which I have come to hope for every visit now. It is Un-real!

Pete
I actually saw you guys at Movie World. A couple of you were waiting in line for the Superman ride but were worried you'd have to leave the line as it was close to 3pm when you were due to leave. I saw the tshirts you guys were wearing but didn't actually see it was 'theme park review' until I recognised it from your photos in this thread. Â Enjoyed reading through this thread, hope you all enjoy the rest of your trip here in Australia.
MacPark
Hey guys, I have been lurking this site along time and decided after this thread I had to sign up. I am from Brisbane and grew up on the Gold Coast and was at the Gold Coast Parks alot as a child. I was visiting Dreamworld and Seaworld in the early 80's when they were new and small and was at Movie World on opening weekend. I even used to go to Wet N Wild way back when it was Cade's County Water Park!. Its amazing to see how the parks have changed over my life time (not always for good) but its cool to see your opinions of them. Â I look foward to the rest of your trip. Have fun! robbalvey
And now for another update and another POV Video! Â This time around we visit Aussie World on the Sunshine Coast. What a GREAT little family park! It's one of those little parks you wished we had more of in the world. Great place to take a family for an afternoon out without huge lines at the rides, and without having to spend loads of money. Â Fun rides, a GREAT Wild Mouse, and a really friendly staff. Well worth the visit! Â Onto some photos, but first a POV Video of the wooden Wild Mouse... Â TPR's next stop...Aussie World on the Sunshine Coast! We all got wristbanded up and went inside. Park manager David gave us a bit of history about the park. We got to try the Wild Mouse for about an hour before the park opened. The Wild Mouse is one of very few (three?) wooden mice left in the world! And this mouse has more than one OMFG moments on it! Everyone loved this mouse! Loved this brake system that dropped the cars onto the track when the car before clears the block. Here's one for the lift hill enthusiasts! Crazy Chuck! An OMFG moment! "Blasarrggghhhhh!!!!!" "This mouse is awesome!" There's the cars... There's the control panel... And there is Elissa going "Oh crap!!!" Freakin' awesome little ride!!! TPR loved the Wild Mouse!!! After the Wild Mouse ERT they opened flat rides for us! TPR loves indoor themed flat rides! It had a decent program, rockin music, and with great lighting effects! This kangaroo speaks the truth! Point taken! WTF?!? Aussie World was a great little family park... It had a lot of charm... And has enough for a family to enjoy an afternoon out without insane lines or spending a fortune. We all got our "pointing at the Octopus sign" credit! A highlight of our day was getting a sneak peek at Aussie World's new "Giant Redback" Disk-o! TPR got to ride it before it officially opened to the public! The park even had the local news station come out and interview us! We had lunch next door at one of Australia's most famous pubs! They take this place pretty seriously! They make this claim... And they are right! Proof that Australians Looooooove Fosters! Many different words for the "toilet!" And they had funky toilets! TPR had a great day at Aussie World and an awesome lunch at the Ettamogah Pub! Edited April 1, 2011 by ernierocker

chrisdanger
This is why I love the Aussies, unabashedly honest about themselves and their culture, not to mention the fact they relish in it..We yanks could take a lesson or two from our friends in the southern hemisphere.. Mickey_079
^ That's a beetroot. Â ^Umm, a couple of us we're making a joke, I believe that's allowed on TPR occasionally. That photo is from Hawk's Nest, and has been featured in the news today. Â I know, I was joking before sort of stating how serious the attacks have gotten this year. Sorry if it looked as though I was attacking you in anyway. Â Looks like you guys are having a blast!
ozziboy
Another great update Robb, and an amazing unique POV of the old woodie Wild Mouse. Â Having been the one and only permanent coaster in Perth for several decades, although only ever in operation for one week a year during our 'Perth Royal Show', its to blame for my love of coasters. Â But it's a great thing that it now gets to be ridden and enjoyed all season/year in its new home.
