Awesome! I've wanted to attend one of these Bashes for years and finally one in my "neck" of the woods. And hash browns? How have I missed out on hash browns at SFOG?

It sounds fun, but this Atlanta area resident will be out of town that week. Got inspired by the cruise photo thread last month and I managed to convince the husband to go on a cruise on Allure of the Seas that week!

This would be my first TPR trip and my first trip to SFOG. I would be driving up from Sarasota and was options was there for hotels, or if there was one that TPR always uses there?

^ I would recommend staying in midtown Atlanta (the park is about 10 miles west of the city), a couple of exits to the west (Thornton Rd in Austell, I-20 exit 44), or the Vinings area which is about 10 miles NW of downtown. There are hotels adjacent to the park, but I'd personally avoid them since the area is fairly rough and you can get a nice, quiet hotel in Vinings for about the same price. The Wingate @ Six Flags *should* be acceptable place, but I would NOT recommend any other hotel within 3 miles of the park.

 

Here are my personal recommendations as a local: Hotel Palomar (higher-end) in midtown, the Sheraton @ Cumberland Galleria (moderate) in the Vinings/NW Atlanta area, or the Garden Inn (budget) on Thornton Rd in Lithia Springs (I haven't actually stayed at this one, but it seems to be the cleanest in the area)

If you want to stay closer to the park, I would go with the Hilton Garden Inn one-exit past SFOG on I-20 (Thornton Road).
