Pirouettes907
"This kid was just sleeping there. For a while we thought he was sick/dead and almost contacted security, but first we had to take a picture." Because of this, I pretty much choked on my dinner and started laughing so hard that my dogs gave me funny looks because I'd disturbed them from their naps. Thanks. stingrock23
IB definitely had lots of charm, I really enjoyed it there. I thought Cornball was insane. But even more insane, those kankles. I've seen plenty of kankles before, but nothing quite like those.
jray21
^^^I thought you'd like this report! Unfortunately, the next day was Six Flags Great America and surprisingly there weren't too many fatties so it will be a more 'normal' report again. However, the Wisconsin Dells is after that and it was a winner! ^^The sad part was that we were watching him for at least 15 minutes! He was kind of in a hidden area, and the way he was lying did not look like a comfortable resting position. But yeah, had to take a picture first just in case Cornball and LoCoSuMo were both very fun rides. LoCoSuMo was definitely a WTF kind of ride, like one you'd find in Japan! jray21
Ok, it's time for another update! Now, there weren't as many food and fatties in this portion of the trip, but it's still a great park with lots to see. This was the first time I've been to this park, but I grew up with California's Great America so it was a really weird experience. So many things were similar, and yet there were also a lot of difference. The ride I looked forward to the most here was the Whizzer! The one in California was my first real coaster, and I haven't ridden it for as long as I can remember. It was really cool to somewhat re-live that. Up next will be the Wisconsin Dells, one of the best places ever for fatties! Anyway, on to the photos! What better way to start of the day than with a Cracker Barrel breakfast! From the parking lot it looks like CGA, but with much bigger rides. Nice Amy picture. Robb leads the pack to ERT!!! Jake has the 'I haven't slept in days' look. Dan uses sign language to show us that we are riding Superman for ERT! The scariest part of the ride is the lift-hill. I can't help but think of what would happen if the restraints popped open. First ride of the day! Jason and Olivier enjoying Superman. TPR superman ERT takeover! Can you guess who didn't use Dial? Over the loop! The GP waiting to get in. This is why it absolutely pays to do the TPR events. And of course the mad mouse is full of TPR credit whores! Oh wait, two more! Who carres about comfort, it's all about spinning! Jack and Jackie took the minimalist approach and ended up spinning a ton! I just love this picture. They even had the Jetson's! Maybe I am in some time warp back to the Great America of the 80's! The Joker masks in the queue weren't anything special, but still better than a vast majority of other SF queues. I don't know what Barry M. Deeper was doing during lunch, but Elissa seems to be a little grossed out. Good old American delicious junk! Next up is one of the best perks of a TPR trip/event, backstage tours! We get some nice views of the coaster. The first drop These were rafts that too many ACEr's were in. A TPR approved, and well traveled, highway. He was late to the bus. That's quite a bit of fog juice they ordered! A bunch of old parts, including an old bucket from the Sky Whirl! There is a ton of junk back here! Krum? Isn't that the dude from Harry Potter? He's much better as fertilizer. I think every broken kitchen apparatus from 100 miles around is right here. Even these bugs seem vaguely familiar from the California days. They also had a graveyard for the trains. Umm, somehow I don't think that is going to be big enough. Iron Wolf is the first B & M, but the cycle times were way too long for me to wait for a picture of the train. Speaking of "wait." We got very up close and personal with Demon! American Eagle looks even better up close! Raging Bull looked great against the blue sky. Noted! Quality folk at SFGA! They must have been having a lot of problems with the employees drag racing the golf carts. More Raging Bull goodness. Ok, I guess that sign is legit. The lift hill looks massive. $1 doesn't seem so expensive now does it? I don't see this anymore now that I use my motion sickness patch! This could have been one of the most incredible air-time hills if it wasn't for the extremely noticeable trims! For Mummy the Ride? Reverse gravity garbage cans are the future. Hey California fans! Remember when our park looked like this! There are people in that station! It was so cool being able to ride this again(for the first time). It is a fun ride. They had a really cool model of the original park. Time for a ride on the Sky Tower and a great view of Superman! The front of the park is almost identical to the California park. But this park doesn't have stupid cry baby residents nearby to complain about the fact that the park was there before they were! The water park has a pretty good collection of slides. This is where California got shafted. Riding Whizzer after all these years was awesome! A lot of good rides, and yes, they do still have Yankee Clipper! I know many people would have loved for me to go into the forbidden area and pulled a "Scream." Nothing says Six Flags quality like duct tape on a seat. I look 'Day 9 of a TPR trip' terrible. And there's no better way to look even more terrible than to eat wonderful junk like Pulled Pork, Cold Stone Ice Cream, Cookies, Brownies, and BBQ Beef! Next up was a quick walkthrough of the water park and a view of the coolest shark mailbox I've ever seen! Amy was trying to set up a great picture of a fatty, but the idiot who doesn't know how to zip up a bag got in the way! Shark! Holy Crap! Something is not right with that dude! A massive play structure. Nope Dan, it is definitely not Dan friendly. These racers looked really good having both tunnels and the racing sections. No comment That is just beyond disgusting. They had some nice sandy areas in the park. Dan is too cool for a stupid pose. This was our review of the park. Dan didn't care because it was water and he's allergic to it, I was disappointed because it closed when we arrived, and Amy liked how many good rides there were. Not a bad looking lazy river. Much better than the one at Indiana Beach! Time for some nachos and waffle fries! Robb is amazed that Dan even owns anything water related like board shorts! One of the rarest pictures for TPR nerds (and a few creepos), Dan enjoying water. Barry M. Deeper always likes to get lubricated with water. Helllooooo Daniel. How's the Chaffing? (inside Joke) Woah, is that even physically possible? Time for Raging Bull ERT!!! I'm sure quite a few people learned the answer to that question during the trip Who's excited for ERT? And whose even more excited for ERT!!!! Stay tuned for an epic fatties day coming up next!
Movieguy
Ooh! Ooh! Cracker Barrel breakfast! I had one while I was in Erie. I had steak, grits, three eggs over easy, apples, sausages, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, and coffee, of course. Awesome stuff Great Photos of the park too. You made me feel like I was there. jray21
Thanks for the comments! I know some people are iffy on Cracker Barrel but I think it's one of the best places around (by far the best coffee shop style restaurant)! It's gift shop has some really cool stuff as well! jray21
Day Ten: All about Bryan day, and the Wisconsin Dells! The Wisconsin Dells was a tourist trap town with a few coasters, parks, and activities scattered throughout. The coasters at Mt. Olympus were extremely rough and had incredible, and downright scary, airtime. The operations could have been better, but with TPR, any park is an awesome park! The employees had very interesting attitudes , but it made for some great pictures! Enjoy! **Edited: Cleaned up the report a bit. The only time I am ever up early enough to see the sunrise is on a TPR trip. They had some very interesting buildings on the way to the Wisconsin Dells Today was spent at the Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park! The park was very interesting, and they had a nice small collection of rides. Yay! A nice and pretty sign just for us! They had white sheets to make sure we didn’t blend in with the lower-end, population, or they were just hiding us from the public. Today was “It’s all about Bryan” day!!!! But Trent is the true Power Packer! If Bryan demands it, it must be done. Alas, Bryan is finally showing his age. We all prepare ourselves for what will be an insane, and extremely painful, ERT session! Bryan is upset. We must stone the unbeliever! This kid will make a wonderful driver in just a few years. When Bryan says something, it instantly becomes a sign. The employees had wonderful, not my job, attitudes. Jake and TPDave look like animals being sent to slaughter But everyone just needs to be patient while the ride op finishes texting her plans for the evening! This group shows all of the stages of accepting death. Miles makes sure him manhood is intact after that violent ride. Since a chair isn’t provided, I’ll just sit on the floor. Yes little goat, you will do just fine for Christmas. Just fine indeed. Like the movies starring Barry M. Deeper, you must be 18 years or older to ride in the back car. They aren’t too sure about this 18 or older seat. The airtime in the backseat was so OMFG amazing! More holy crap amazing airtime! Chunk loves it, but Mike Austin still hates it. Look at how much higher James is than lauren! Kidtums and Sharktums enjoy a nice ride on the swings! Colin hits 200, or he’s trying to cover up a man-boob. Please people, can’t you practice any patience? Can’t you tell he’s just about to score some digits! Russ and Stacey are all ready for their ride! Just go over to the red button, push it, and you will be free from all of your worldly cares. Nothing says 'Greek' more than a Pizza. Whoever washed this floor did it with the wrong soap. It was literally more slippery than an ice rink. Bryan gets extra special attention from Robb! Next up was a Greek themed wild mouse! It’s good to know that they take safety so seriously. Then again, maybe they don’t. Hi Mr. Beachball! These guys were working on the Screamin’ Swing(?), but they would run some cycles and the ‘arms’ were getting so close to taking them out. Another odd thing was that they would drive all sorts of vehicle through out the park, even the main walkways. Doesn’t that kid realize he’s on a freeway? He should really look both ways. It really was incredible how they would just plow through the crowds with vehicles. Anyone order a side of cottage cheese? One of the bungee jumps in the area was operating. It’s a Coke park! That definitely earns them some bonus points. The mini-corndogs were really good! The rides did go through some really nice greenery. One of my favorite shots ever! So gross and funny at the same time. More Airtime! Poseidon’s Rage is a wave pool that only releases one wave every few minutes… …but, it’s a 10 foot wave!!!! The structures in the area are repaired and maintained with the highest of standards. Little Titans was the credit that was unattainable. This was that scad tower….that forgot to raise the safety net. :/ One of the highlights of the Wisconsin Dells is the Dam boat adventure. Get an up close and personal view of the crystal clear pristine waters in absolute safety! Next up was a quick stop to Timberfalls for a woodie credit! It actually was a fun little park with a few attractions. Jack and Jackie try out the log ride. Martin, Cheryl, and Lauren approve of the log ride. Hanging on for dear life! Scott and Jason participate in one of the extreme attractions. They finish building the ride just in time! Fatty me is ready for a quick credit! How a true professional takes a picture! Our lunch for the day was sausages and hamburgers. The hamburgers were cooked fresh on the grill for lunch! Really good stuff. Mike enjoys another incredible ride. I tried to get a taste of the essence that is Bryan. TPR members can check another credit off the list! Up and over an airtime hill! Another well dressed pissed off Wisconsian who doesn’t understand what ERT is. Bus time with Kristen is always fun! Time for a surprise credit whore credit! Yes, we are credit whores! It was a fun, yet slightly painful, credit. All of you should be ashamed! The world's toughest bar. disneyfan1313
I've considered a trip to the Dells in the past.. Your TR made me change my mind. Thanks for all the fun photos! Edited August 20, 2011 by disneyfan1313
gisco
I like your report and don't take any offense to it but you are turning into a stalker. One or two candid shots of the fatties is about my limit in each part. I think this last segment went over the top. Those two animated pics are very annoying and border on inappropriate in my opinion. More food pics!
jray21
^ Thanks for the input. I will definitely change things in the future. More food, less fatties I've updated it so it's more professional. Edited August 21, 2011 by jray21
gtman316
When I was at Mt. Olympus last week, the lapbar for the back seat of cyclops was missing. Upon further inspection I noticed that they didn't unbolt it and take it off, but it had actually broken and snapped off.
mattnz
I say keep the fatties coming - I had a feeling your Mt. Olympus segment would deliver quite a few! That was a crazy day. Those ride ops were so disinterested and lethargic it bordered on hilarious!
amyzoo
My Olympus was a fun park. The wooden coasters were really good but a little rough for me. I kinda wished we went to the water park, the giant wave looked really fun.
jray21
FINALLY, THE LAST DAY OF THE TRIP!!!!! After taking way too much time off, it's time to finish this trip report! Our final day of the trip was Valleyfair in Shakopee, MN! It also turned into DOMO day! You can read more about DOMO day here, but remember to visit this report when you are finished! Anyway, thanks again Robb and Elissa for an INCREDIBLE trip! We have a ton of fun, and met a lot of awesome new people! TPR is truly the best way to do a vacation! Thanks for following along on our trip! On to the pictures! By the way, THE CAPTION CONTEST TO WIN A COOL PRIZE IS IN THIS UPDATE!!!! Look for it in the pictures below! Welcome to Valleyfair! I wish more parks would do this. It saves so much time, and lets the ride ops not have to be the height police Behind the scenes of a group picture Yeah for the TPR sign! Sorry Joey, hand them all over. Wild Thing greets you as you walk in That’s a pretty big looking lift hill This could’ve had amazing airtime if it wasn’t so slow! Still a fun ride Chuck is ready for the first ride of the day! Wild Thing ERT is always a good thing! Yeah, you’re one Bad-A Number One Mofo on that coaster Steven’s hair fits perfectly with the Wild Thing theme First stop after ERT? FOOD! These were cooked perfectly! As long as it clicks, you can ride! Watch out Amy, it’s trying to eat you! Is this a food, or something obscene?! We must have had six orders of these this day. When they are fresh, AMAZING, when they aren’t, TERRIBLE! Excalibur causes you to go through all the stages of accepting death! Xtreme Swing was a lot of fun, but too short. Weeeeeeeeeee The guy in the blue shirt just crapped his pants Robb wins a DOMO! Not to be outdone, Jake and his intimidating posse win one as well Time for a snack. This time a corndog that tastes like it was heated in a microwave Time for Steel Venom! The ride would be so much better if it actually went into that cloud of death! I love the faces people make! Jake is being an irresponsible father and almost lets Domo fall We had an awesome Taco/Burrito Bar for lunch! Dave is so excited for the Bathroom ERT he is going to be having tonight! I grabbed some more Funnel Cake Fries as a pre-lunch snack A special guest appearance by the now retired Colonel Ohoompapa! The Yellow Jackets were included FREE with our drinks! Amy is one of the few TPR members responsible enough to babysit Domo We each got one of these awesome magnets as a gift from Valleyfair! Thanks! Out with the old, in with the new This is going to be an Awesome Show...I mean, accident waiting to happen! There are microwaves, and then there are microwaves. Domo posing for a picture This is what Valleyfair thinks of the Universal/DreamWorks partnership. If you were ever wondering how they wash and clean the wheel bearings, well, now you know! Power Tower is a standard S & S Tower And….drop It’s better when you can’t see anything because of your hair Two classics. Yes, Domo is already a classic. Renegade was an amazing ride! Two tools in a field We had an awesome walk back tour Neil was a little creeped out by an adult (questionable) male walking around with a stuffed toy. No clue what the dude in the pink shirt is doing, but the one in front forgot to protect his ‘family’ Renegade definitely was the surprise coaster of the trip for me. Fun drop! The kid is like, “hell yeah, but since I'm riding alone I don't want to draw attention to myself." I think someone just had a stroke More fun faces Renegade zooms behind Amy I agree! Brian is a.......Great Guy! No Robb, don’t eat it!!! Quick, show us your best "What do dumb Americans look like" face! Is the lady in blue sitting on a seat divider? Chicken Nuggets, microwave quality, Cinnamon Roll, delicious! The family raft ride went through some really nice areas Olivier is too exhausted to move anymore. He is still there to this day. :'( One of the elusive credits of the trip Many tried, but all failed. TP Dave will get it anyway he can! Corkscrew was rough, but there are a lot worse! They seemed to enjoy it. Now that’s safe! Good luck you two! Robb and Hanno are thinking, “Why the hell did we do that again?” I see some TPR members in line for a credit! Corkscrew’s Corkscrew Nice people shots. Corkscrew is in a really nice area ***Ok, here is the caption contest! Best caption for this picture of a couple of no teeth mid-westerners (as decided by me) wins a special prize!*** Here is the prize! This was called a “Cassette Tape.” It was used many, many, many years ago to play music! I’m sure they are going for a ton of money of the Antique Roadshow, and it is signed by Leslie Hall and other Famous TPR members!!! I mean, this is Priceless!!!!! Heeeeyyyyyyyy! They were stuck in the shrub maze for hours How easily we TPR members are amused. Domo decides to be a farmer Pizza on a Stick = Circular Hot Pocket with a cold center on a stick Chuck always knows how to get the girls. Video to follow! Twisty!!! More fun faces DO NOT TOUCH OUR DOMOS!!!!!! Whoooosh! Dan is so skilled that he can even keep a perfect pose on the launch Next up is our farewell dinner; so naturally, it’s time for a milkshake! It was delicious! Dan was feeling a little anti-social at dinner. Buffalo Wild Wings is always amazing! TP Dave and Michael attempted the Atomic challenge. TP Dave was crying for quite a while! Why So Serious? Swings at night are always fun! And now it’s time for our final ERT of the trip, RENEGADE! It was running so amazing that night. Seriously one of the best ERT sessions ever! And then we came home to this! What the hell were our cats doing while we were gone? Did Angus McNasty stop by while Chuck was away?
