Update time! After surviving an epic stay in the Bates Motel in Iowa and being visited by the famous Leslie Hall, we plowed through Corn and made it to Adventureland Friday morning. This park ended up being REALLY nice and SUPER friendly!

Following this update will be our quick credit run and Prowler ERT on Friday night before our full visit to WOF on Saturday!

IMG_3977.JPG.903e442d5b5153a7eaea36d368cb4588.JPG

The TPR bus pulls into Adventureland. As Clark would say, "Were the first ones here!"

IMG_3980.JPG.0253c84bbc635aefde4826dbe32a13ca.JPG

The park's entrance immediately reminds you of Magic Kingdom!

IMG_3981.JPG.2394e542f231b3cb4892b0d6ceaf5190.JPG

See what I mean? It was very charming!

IMG_3982.JPG.e5b46ad06ffdb772855ae7487140fb07.JPG

Unfortunately we visited right after the front area of the park just claimed by a fire :(

IMG_3983.JPG.ab9b0fc7232e909237cea362d9c95e37.JPG

The park was VERY nice though! It was pleasantly surprised as we walked back to our first coaster of the day...

IMG_3990.JPG.a9617356f5c60ddfcdecbf95bfaf6bc7.JPG

...The Underground!

IMG_3989.JPG.6fc6457189802068b8eae3de5ae0d7fb.JPG

This basically was very similar to Blazing Fury and Fire in The Hole but didn't have the large drops those coasters had...but it IS a wood coaster!

IMG_3992.JPG.a24a0bfa0305ca28b70a7ff09a1d01da.JPG

Next door was Tornado, the parks classic wooden coaster!

IMG_3995.JPG.2e1de365b65184c3029bc63767544ca4.JPG

It really pays off to get to park at opening!

IMG_3999.JPG.f1d4aae2da1e793874de7960a43d35e6.JPG

Robb did some filming as we rode, so I joined him and took some pictures for your enjoyment :)

IMG_4001.JPG.81443979ddb6283708f18a5bdf39dd60.JPG

Lift hill enthusiasts, rejoice!

IMG_4003.thumb.JPG.89ffb1938d37323ea82a0f38a100cc13.JPG

Spot the TPR members! Its so much fun going around the park in a big friendly group :)

IMG_4004.thumb.JPG.88cb9e30a8725baef04760a7a9144945.JPG

First drop fun!

IMG_4007.thumb.JPG.47bdd2669bda4888fa4ec3836cb5280e.JPG

This was my favorite drop on the ride! I love how it just disappears

IMG_4010.thumb.JPG.1e0a46250494e97fe8ad456bf367c9eb.JPG

Overall I found it to be pretty forceless but really smooth and just FUN!

IMG_4017.JPG.7a7b173faef0362ce85423feb5654cfd.JPG

As we headed to the back of the park, it appeared that Outlaw wasn't open yet...

IMG_4016.JPG.5b9096bfca9c8c361601180a6c34c099.JPG

...so lets ride the raft ride!

IMG_4021.JPG.8b48349638a0b612f9032a0fefa6fc45.JPG

We decided to join forces for the fat mans raft, and robb and myself were on the other side of this photo =]

IMG_4022.JPG.45c87c2a58e686b4ab216d0af0ac61ec.JPG

The lift hill provided some cool views of Outlaw ;)

IMG_4024.JPG.8ff331b6c206fae32a830390671d06d2.JPG

CRAP.

IMG_4026.JPG.104ef7a55e594833225e6bec18307928.JPG

We ended up creating a huge splash at the bottom and got soaked...and broke the freakin ride!!!

IMG_4028.JPG.639958c667a38c6db8c392040d475fb8.JPG

Hmm, that's a good sign! Seems like a good way to dry off.

IMG_4033.thumb.JPG.626c543a2f2ace3faa3b8f9af7c56521.JPG

Wow, holy fail on aiming the camera, Jake...but you can still see us!

IMG_4034.JPG.15881385cb6a352cfe8a8488777764ad.JPG

Outlaw is technically a CCI...but everyone knows it's the first GCI ;)

IMG_4036.thumb.JPG.de16744bf51e071778fba26993a425ff.JPG

I will never let down the lift hill enthusiasts.

IMG_4059.JPG.daeddb560cd823941826aaf7c21e29c4.JPG

Some of the layout.

IMG_4060.thumb.JPG.f55793bf41876bc7a5079b9397cf1730.JPG

Here we go!

IMG_4063.thumb.JPG.13503f5e8bf4b4c0309cf31dbb9da5ea.JPG

Outlaw spends a lot of time crossing underneath and around itself...a true twister!

IMG_4045.thumb.JPG.9f66d833432af72af0337370ca3a4005.JPG

Airtime!!

IMG_4067.thumb.JPG.46a633f73e782127d7c0a793df0cc689.JPG

Outlaw has a good mix of curvy bits and hills, a solid coaster for this park!

IMG_4073.thumb.JPG.51e619476637f11fc9c0d66f3f1a5cca.JPG

Funny story here...this first hill of the ride is VERY violent as it is full of negatives and the first Robb filmed it jarred the camera...luckily the people in line let us ride again and thats where the great footage you guys can see came from :)

IMG_4076.thumb.JPG.bdab126414d012403d8c574656c64e46.JPG

One last picture of Outlaw because it's that fun!

IMG_4079.JPG.0de7e9df182aa36b6caa4c8d45a49366.JPG

A couple of us took a little break from coasters and checked out the parks mini frisbee!

IMG_4083.thumb.JPG.fd69e8a62088a40d119669e279c661f1.JPG

It was amazing! It ran a really long and really great program! I swear these are so much better than the big ones (Sorry MaxAir!)

IMG_4084.thumb.JPG.f042fafa61bd6bcaf9aac51a21ecdfb1.JPG

Unfortunately we had one last coaster to ride here...the infamous Hopkins looper.

IMG_4085.JPG.01307a07f45378062487b8e346c81ca2.JPG

This was also the only line we encountered all day...go figure ;)

IMG_4087.JPG.6b3aa2f70d14ea091771cf6f8e3d687d.JPG

I thought the lack of air gates was totally awesome.

IMG_4088.JPG.7899b7ddef00cacf52192de30f5e5aa3.JPG

One last coaster of onrides for you guys!

IMG_4091.thumb.JPG.89a8c7e284652a8feaac198143335014.JPG

This made really weird noises...oh god.

IMG_4096.JPG.112efeb9790739bed0dd439e6f136029.JPG

Just incase you were wondering what most of Iowa looks like...

IMG_4099.thumb.JPG.6c0a635d198fb32ab1e200c73e31ae9b.JPG

And this is what pain looks like :(

IMG_4107.JPG.a8abd66ad80feb8896eeb9eac86c7dda.JPG

Thank god, we made it back alive. All Adventureland coasters conquered :)

IMG_4112.JPG.5908c9aaf63defaec6f8bfe027af2355.JPG

After all our riding, we were ready for a nice lunch.

IMG_4113.JPG.7c9013464591d9217144656dec673f1c.JPG

We hung out and ate at the clubhouse!

IMG_4114.JPG.acc7241ec72d8881a65df43f266502d4.JPG

After lunch we walked around the park and checked out some of the other attractions, such as the sky ride.

IMG_4120.JPG.b931dc1292b509b25d7a2e47b2524418.JPG

It came very close to the log ride, but I didn't feel like getting wet ;)

IMG_4125.JPG.07b2fec9e978c9548437669b88aa92c2.JPG

Waling around the park is just filled with charm everywhere.

IMG_4128.JPG.edf055117b634281b399ee3f24589d5f.JPG

How about a train ride?

IMG_4130.JPG.ac61352768ff3f9eec51e4c14c40b4f7.JPG

This is actually where the park's Galaxi used to sit but closed over 10 years ago. Notice the extra long platform?

IMG_4132.JPG.6ef787e1e1099cb482d9237a2ea42396.JPG

The train also took us by the parks rapids ride which looked VERY nice, especially for a smaller (relatively) park.

IMG_4134.JPG.d776c2fc9614a9abce86ccd6e8ec716f.JPG

The last thing we did was have a mini TPR take over on the rotor!

IMG_4135.JPG.8359193f0686f54f715a1d522a4bf7ff.JPG

Hi guys! KT totally LOVED the rotor!

IMG_4139.JPG.ec1767df6b5ca56729c35bf91a66bf58.JPG

That's it for Adventureland! This park ended up being a lot bigger than I would have ever thought and so much nicer too! I really enjoyed the visit!

  • 5 weeks later...

How about right now? Here's a quick little update!

After our amazing day at Adventureland we made the trek down I-35 to Kansas City, Missouri. After a quick stop at the hotel we went over to the park for a quick 2 hour credit run (since the next day would be Saturday) and PROWLER NIGHT ERT!!!!

IMG_4140.jpg.d905e04bcc8d7751b213739c5d1883a4.jpg

This would be the TPR bus outside our hotel! Shout out for our AMAZING bus driver Brian. Epic stories were told.

IMG_4141.JPG.dbccfc3fcc7c95d199f7549d71a7a16a.JPG

This was also the view from out hotel room! I like how the ride's just sticking up above a field.

IMG_4142.JPG.837a7d0f5ef3bf541a626611defee1a0.JPG

For a Cedar Fair park I felt like this park actually has a pretty unique location...the egdes are very "hilly" and field like while the inside is very...lush.

IMG_4145.JPG.7fa2a4412cb9ad9f59a860cc6d0405a4.JPG

It was still light outside as we filed in.

IMG_4146.JPG.a3a1b350f0a936c8a9b37e509d639ac1.JPG

The first part of the park we walked through was the nighttime spectacular thing...it was a nice touch!

IMG_4147.JPG.fb55352888a0b24d5ea7e46b9056afa0.JPG

Might as well knock this POS out first...it was a walk on thankfully!

IMG_4152.JPG.3bea9155475b2f71c84d0c381582e595.JPG

Lots of cool down time was spent inside Coasters as we made our way to the back of the park

IMG_4155.JPG.53620fda94e8270eaf2379216c0b844c.JPG

We took Mamba for a few cycles...just a good fun ride! Nothing too special but not boring either.

IMG_4159.JPG.8cdc1cd79325b5c502726331ede46944.JPG

A nighttime ride on Timberwolf was filled with some OMFG moments, but also many WTFs???

IMG_4162.JPG.14997a4865e8113ecc4a19d1e61c6ff0.JPG

Continuing around the side of the park we made our way to Patriot.

IMG_4164.JPG.d5f3d0db29031628f5ff38da215fd72d.JPG

Sadly, this invert was a perfect example of the "new age" forceless B&Ms :(

IMG_4167.JPG.b5f35cc94bb1beff02b42c4bc9a4967d.JPG

The longest (and really only) wait of the evening was for Spinning Dragons!

IMG_4168.JPG.cd3ac34c4953d039973e6dc1c4358046.JPG

These rides honestly do nothing for me, but every park I go to that has one it seems to be a big hit with the GP!

IMG_4169.JPG.83561a1b53226109024ac397dbe7b54f.JPG

Coasters are pretty at night.

IMG_4171.JPG.f99f2dc429bc1df7a8afe5f86149feb1.JPG

After gaining 5 of the coasters and still waiting for Prowler ERT...we took another lap on Mamba! Can't go wrong with a little airtime.

IMG_4173.JPG.526543dcdbf23d902005724c595ff909.JPG

But finally 10 pm came along and it was time!!!

IMG_4174.JPG.623d24a25a873a18a71c97135ae409fc.JPG

It might not look like much, but this station is where you board the train to heaven.

IMG_4175.JPG.63e1692bb3af84a6371f291e0e909f5a.JPG

Prowler makes everything move at light speed.

IMG_4176.JPG.78f03e8b0263a9e1022442c57aa0942a.JPG

Nick and David have no idea what a life changing experience they are about to embark on.

IMG_4177.JPG.29c99be8f51e22299bfe42dd1b0d08ac.JPG

OMFG where did all the riders go? Heaven of course, to hang out with the ride's designed God himself.

IMG_4178.JPG.5d05d7bc8bebf0ccdf0da56fc1b1ec37.JPG

All kidding aside Prowler was a petty kickass coaster and the night time ERT was wild! I just only managed to grab a few shots as ERT was ending.

Luckily for you, in the next update we get up and close with Prowler!!!

Goooooood morning Worlds of Fun!

IMG_4182.JPG.758c6298463b96ee35001020beedf14c.JPG

We were back up at the park bright and early for some ERT!

IMG_4184.JPG.a0b475239cfbbf311c2e3b2e522fb5a5.JPG

This mornings ERT coaster was...Patriot! How American!

IMG_4185.JPG.942dc214e1a0fbc48dc8e7b07c83d4e7.JPG

Patriot unfortunately was having technical difficulties this morning...but it's damn sexy to look at! For you R.D.

IMG_4193.JPG.04f3839951b9f81a3a68a777b31bcb19.JPG

However eventually the ride was fixed (it was actually a pretty major problem I think, kudos to the park) and we were allowed up into the station!

IMG_4194.JPG.c93bd78ba7d4edc97355ef17ef131bc4.JPG

Hi Jason!

IMG_4195.JPG.9c8172db89f82641c89bddb4fbd4e338.JPG

The park was actually open at this point, but they held off the GP so we could still get out ERT!!!

IMG_4197.JPG.c447e6d1f89968f0d04b55f9a6ff966e.JPG

This one's for you, R.D.

IMG_4200.JPG.6b5241e57f39ef44745da366c72208de.JPG

One last shot of Patriot. While not the best invert, it still is freakin' good to look at.

IMG_4196.JPG.badb96f84877ca181f0e2b029abcdafa.JPG

Bryan still needed his WOF credits so we made a round of the park. First up, Spinning Dragons!

IMG_4203.JPG.097276be269dcca734b476e4d9d1aa80.JPG

Time for another WTF was that OMG ride on Timberwolf.

IMG_4204.JPG.95c5a53a43f582a5c6371a26f914c356.JPG

Last night I tried the front, so this time I opted for the back seat.

IMG_4208.JPG.8738e620690a4ccc5d567a92564ed46d.JPG

Timberwolf doing it's thing. This ride has some crazy ejector hills but the rest of the ride is like banging against two walls for 2 minutes.

IMG_4210.JPG.c174222103d7293d2a1c584b3ad9ebdf.JPG

Nerdy wooden coaster shot for those types.

IMG_4212.JPG.d359e7478e5cbe4cd5d047ab6f6472dd.JPG

Ladies and gentlemen...I present to you the GREATEST FLAT RIDE EVER!!!

IMG_4214.JPG.d3340870ea11afbdf718055c21f75e99.JPG

This is the only shot I managed to get, but I don't want to give away any details of this sweet ride.

IMG_4220.JPG.7d5e64bc57ed5b3123517050105302f1.JPG

Back to the coasters, another ride on Mamba was due.

IMG_4222.JPG.7e7d4a0a773835386521c8f67311fba4.JPG

The lines aren't even that bad today! And folks it was freakin HOT on this trip...there is an example.

IMG_4230.JPG.d3911b9b9539a46fae127214feec180e.JPG

After a lap on Mamba, it was time for more PROWLER!!!!!

IMG_4232.JPG.45ab7a3ea2c36220fe5c793a66728785.JPG

Wait a second...where is the line???

IMG_4235.JPG.fe634c2af5225b964636c50ce09e2d09.JPG

Yeah, at 2pm on a Saturday this was the wait on Prowler!!!

IMG_4237.JPG.baf954dff06db2fc5507d622ed940d34.JPG

Short wait = numerous rides on Prowler's glorious curves and heavenly lifting airtime.

IMG_4238.JPG.cd2b863bdc74e20cac441ee79a98093e.JPG

I guess the GP just isn't up to the challenge of conquering the mighty Prowler.

IMG_4243.JPG.70165cbd44980fa6900869c30fce7b03.JPG

I suggest taking Prowler (and any other GCIs for that matter) from the front side.

IMG_4245.JPG.c7a12df55e94f196dbf57b5e13435bf3.JPG

Classy tattoo.

IMG_4253.JPG.29a66a63f53dd7b6fb685fd0f8a99ae0.JPG

After a few rides it was time to go backstage and get a little more personal with Prowler.

IMG_4262.JPG.86b9a303060a8d175d4fc1e74d90406a.JPG

Everyone get your cameras out! Jesus may appear at any moment.

IMG_4263.JPG.382d243386ee4e5544a7ac1dab45c0b4.JPG

No one but god himself could have shaped these heavenly blessed curves.

IMG_4271.JPG.cc621334f28c5a5297b0dcbb535c05d6.JPG

I had to use a quick shutter to capture a Prowler train because it travels at the speed of light!!!!

IMG_4274.JPG.fc823c7fcc5a76c52a8ddb0b2677859a.JPG

What are you guys doing???? That's not Prowler! You're going to hell.

IMG_4276.JPG.747899932585f0b1a75cc0266fc0e7ec.JPG

Ahh, that's better.

IMG_4284.JPG.b919cac29acf631dbcc4075dae4d8335.JPG

Prowler makes you go CRAZY!!!

IMG_4286.JPG.90d361d3aadfb5c682f46aa510f3c3e5.JPG

I believe Prowler has the airtime of El Toro, Balder, and New Texas Giant COMBINED

IMG_4295.JPG.058c006b5d16aee9970bceff5aa5899b.JPG

I couldn't keep my hands off of this heavenly blessed beauty. Prowler will change your orientation forever.

MORE PROWLER PHOTOS!!!

IMG_4333.JPG.ba3b674010db14e4276ce1ef4a9c1ce5.JPG

Okay okay, I'm sure you've seen enough Prowler. Moving on...

IMG_4335.JPG.5d9f6be82661b7d28a5bc0f5bca1cc6b.JPG

We spent the rest of our afternoon hanging out in one of the park's restaurants which over looked the log flume.

IMG_4337.JPG.37f108dc517e912a0861531e07c0360d.JPG

It was very nice and relaxing and brought us back down to Earth after our holy Prowler experience. This is the last photo I took at WOF before....

IMG_4344.JPG.a03618049175a5294276567b2bffef30.JPG

the World Famous Lamberts Cafe!!!

IMG_4338.JPG.0858e7f18928c9aef51c051de2071950.JPG

This is what it looks like from the outside.

IMG_4341.JPG.8612235b29ddbc859506f908b40085c9.JPG

We had some time to kill before our tables were ready so we poked around a few shops and found these.

IMG_4346.JPG.8a56772d72ae7d5e195e57b5a35635ee.JPG

I love Lamberts giant cups. I don't even think I needed a refill!

IMG_4348.JPG.cbe0eae24f0b40cae26a33d46348faf7.JPG

Fried Okra is delicious!!!

IMG_4349.JPG.a7b1fe122a8d61d2177a9af0d839a3f0.JPG

Oh yeah, this is what it looks like on the inside.

IMG_4356.JPG.14b915dae30f01bee183c98e0fabb94d.JPG

I ordered the classic Chicken Fried Steak plate...wait that's not a plate.

IMG_4357.JPG.11bffae2e0c2a1f8fec751a14a79dfbb.JPG

This was amazing.

IMG_4358.JPG.e57a27f398b2d30572b466b164f672d5.JPG

Newly vegetarian Bryan ordered a salad.

IMG_4359.JPG.e0d15030ebd0f825bfadab6a40d3c17e.JPG

THIS IS A SALAD!!!!

IMG_4361.JPG.4f84fdb231753e4a86c7c316bea279a4.JPG

The service here is great, as they throw rolls at you whenever you want one, bring you all kinds of sides, and then even deliver desert!

IMG_4362.JPG.3cb6a0ea4e58f564846ebd7342eb348b.JPG

Lamberts was amazing and totally lived up to the hype...I don't think I ate for the next 3 days. Everyone go there NOW!

Silver Dollar City next :)

I agree!

Next time I'm anywhere near Missouri, I'm going to Lambert's. That place looks fantastic!

There's also one in Alabama I think! One of the brother's owns it I guess. It's soooooo good.

It's like a good 3-3.5 hours from the park (map here: http://tinyurl.com/3rfgrnf )...it was perfect for us because we were heading to Branson for SDC the next day!

Speaking of the devil...i'm heading to work until 9 but will try to get SDC uploaded tonight because I'm heading to SFOT, In-n-Out, Wonderland, and Joyland for the weekend!!!

Yep! It's in Foley, about 10 or so miles north of Gulf Shores. I love it and eat there every time I am down there. If you are ever in the area to check out Cannonball Run, just journey up a few miles for some great food!

Cool! My roommates live pretty close to Gulf Shores so I definitely want to do a day trip out there to ride the coaster and get some Lamberts!!

Ah man Texas great photos! I really enjoyed our time at World's of Fun, and I have a friend whom just moved to Kansas City- I was telling him I really need to come visit so I can go to WOF again. I really do miss Lambert's Cafe, that place was awesome, but afterwards I was so full that the bus ride to Branson was slightly uncomfortable. Good times, I still believe that Middle America is the best trip I've done so far with TPR.
