Mitch Hawker 2010 poll

Kind of a bummer that we're only supposed to rank 2010 steel coasters since a bunch of us just did the Australia trip and could certainly help the poll out. I wonder if an email to Mitch is in order to see if we can go through March 2011 at least.

 

That would seem inappropriate for any rides which opened in early 2011 to be on the 2010 poll.

That's not what Elissa said. She wasn't talking about a ride that opened in 2011 not being on the list, she was talking about a ride that opened in 2010 or prior, that she didn't ride in 2010, but she DID ride in 2011.

 

According to Mitch's poll instructions, there is nothing stopping you from including a coaster you rode AFTER 2010, but you should mark that you did not ride it in 2010. This is not a gray area, it's clearly stated in the ballot instructions:

 

Please change the first 'n' to a 'y' for each of the coasters you

have ridden. Change the second 'n' to a 'y' for each coaster you rode

in 2010. It is important that you mark ALL coasters you have ridden.

Marked all you have ever ridden 'y'

Marked all you rode this year 'y'

 

It does NOT, and I repeat DOES NOT say "marked all you have ever ridden in 2010 or prior". So therefore, all my 2011 coasters, I will absolutely mark "Y" if I have ever ridden them, per the instructions.

 

I fully intend on including all the coasters we rode in Australia, even though I didn't ride them until 2011. When I have to select Y/N if I rode them in "2010", I'll choose "N", because I didn't ride them in 2010. But the ballot instructions tell me to include all the coasters I have "ever" ridden. It simply could not be more clear.

 

And for the steel supports question, there's a reason the Coney Cyclone isn't on the steel list and Gemini is.

You clearly don't get TPR's sense of humor, do you?

Says who? Who says it's "supposed to come out in January?" I never saw a release schedule for the poll. Did anyone else? Nope!

 

I'm going to fill mine out per the instructions on the ballot and include every coaster I've "ever" ridden.

I can't see how anyone could have the slightest problem with this. The way I see it, this only improves the poll. The more input, the better the results imo.

Robb, it's just something else they'll blame you for when Y-coaster is ranked higher than X-coaster. Take it with a very, very, very fine grain of salt.

I rode X2 three times during WCB last year. The first two were during morning ERT, and it was pretty smooth given its reputation. The third was during night ERT, and it basically kicked my ass like Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal combined. However, I was willing to let that one slide and put it at #4 in my rankings.

I rate X (unfortunately no X2 yet) pretty highly, I've never had a bad ride on it, must have been lucky.

 

I've decided to go the full geek, and replicate Mitch's comparison method to rank my coasters, wins and losses, it's gonna take a while.

I just realized that I completely forgot to place my favorite wooden coaster on the steel ballot. Since I don't have that many coaster credits anyway, hopefully it won't matter that much. Honestly, it was just a mistake and I wasn't trying to skew the poll. You know how TPR gets accused of that...
