cal1br3tto Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 ^Love it. When it comes to coaster lighting, more (and fancier) is definitely better!
angryemobeaver Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Â As seen in this video, the lights change to all types of colors! This looks great, more parks should do it!
larrygator Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Chad - any idea if this is only a temporary pricing structure during the slow season?
chadster Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 For right now they said they don't have an end date in mind for the promotion. Reading into that more than I probably should, I'm taking that to mean if it's extremely popular they will keep it around.
larrygator Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) ^I could see them implementing a similar promotion for weekdays during the summer. Edited September 6, 2012 by larrygator
sfog1985 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Is that Hopkins flume? I've never seen a traditional log flume have that much splash at the bottom of the drop. Pretty impressive. Â I seem to remember reading during the park's development that the flume is from Interlink, who I'm not familiar with at all. Â http://www.interlink-lg.com/index.html
texcoaster Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 ^ I hope Interlink has better ride designers than they have website designers. That site is horrible.
biker7766 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 ^^ The website is pretty awful! I was just wondering, I saw a picture and it looks to be the Bobsleigh from Kobe Portopialand! Can someone confirm that this is the bobsled for sale? Here is the photo from Interlink's website.
narkitty Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Pretty sure somebody's been messing with the WIkipedia page, lol. Â As of September 2012, Pleasure Pier announced a new ride named, "The Guzzler". This falice shaped ride will hurl riders up and down a long shaft to receive a face full of fresh sea mist. Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galveston_Island_Historic_Pleasure_Pier
disneyfan1313 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^ Heh! I edited the Wiki page back... poor Galveston Pier!
Mrlittle Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^^ haha that is hilarious  On another note: On Oct 25th and 31st, they will be having discounted all day ride passes for only $12.99. I will be going on Oct 25th.
cal1br3tto Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^^^They had me at "falice." I mean, um, no comment. Â I will be going on Oct 25th. You are a lucky, lucky man.

larrygator Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 ^Granted it is not the biggest place in the world, but I thought my dollars spent earlier this year were worth it just for the repeated rides on Iron Shark and watching people got unexpectedly soaked walking past the log flume. A lot better than paying $5 for some random kiddie credit.
narkitty Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I finally have a chance to go check out the pier! I'm going to be going next week during their Mardi Gras special. All day passes are $19.99, and while I feel like that's a little steep based on the rides, I'm willing to fork it over for the experience. Plus, I'm in desperate need of a coaster fix with SFFT and SFOT closed. Anybody else planning to hit up the pier before the big parks open for the season?
boardwalkbullet91507 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 ^I thought about going with a friend because they are discounted. And I'm with you, I need my coaster fix!

19.99 is not bad, I really wish they would lower the price of the pier. They just had a 16.99 deal which is about what its worth. I will be down in Galveston during the 19.99 deal but I will be there to party it up for Mardi Gras.

Cool, I'm either going to the Pier or Kemah next weekend as well. Sadly I couldn't make the ACE gathering this past weekend but I go frequently enough. I would recommend maybe getting the weekend pass to both Kemah and the Pier for the weekend but if you are just going once then I'd just pay the $20. It's over priced but they can get away with it. I think Kemah is more reasonable for that price but I just settle with it. Someone should organize a mini TPR gathering at Kemah/Pleasure Pier one day. It could be really cool opportunity for those of us in the Houston area or just Texas to get together without having to do a trip or travel very far.
jedimaster1227 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier has posted two new POVs of Iron Shark!  http://www.youtube.com/user/GalvestonPier/videos  Â
_IntaMAN_ Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 NICE! Always wanted to see an official POV of the coaster, so awesome and it packs a punch for being pretty small!
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 LOL, what a bad Pov, the camera is angled down the whole ride...
Zem Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 LOL, what a bad Pov, the camera is angled down the whole ride... Â On their FB they said they would be uploading more POV's at different angles.
ScottyDoesKnow Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Galveston Pleasure Pier is an AMAZING park! The rides are placed specifically to provide the best "over ocean" visuals possible. Iron Shark is a great roller coaster as well. This park is A MUST at night. The lighting packages are amazing. I highly recommend this place.
