Dorney Park or Six Flags GAdv?

Recommended Posts

How many trees are in Dorney? My least favorite part of Cedar Point are those sections with no trees, or no places to sit in the shade, and you're just baking out in the sun on hot days. This is why I've really enjoyed parks like Knoebels, Hersheypark, BGW, and Kennywood, which incorporate natural beauty with their overall look very well.

The top of the park where Talon is doesn't have many trees but the lower part of the park has more. In this picture:

BarryH - we've been to Knoebel's before, and LOVED it. The only trouble is that it's 3 hours away, while Dorney is only 2 hours away. I don't mind driving, but 6 hours in one day is a bit much even for me lol. And I can't really afford the extra expense of a hotel right now. Hopefully, we can do Knoebel's again another time.

Shivtime and Tater - thanks for the tips! I do plan to leave before the scary Halloween stuff begins (they recommend kids under 13 don't attend). So if we get there before opening (noon) we should have plenty of time for rides and still leave early enough to get home before it's really late. One thing I REALLY hope my big butt fits on is the Wild Mouse, I've never ridden one and always wanted to. My son and I watched it on YouTube and he agreed to ride it with me. Wish me luck!

Obviously, my group enjoys the scary stuff, but ignoring that, everyone above is correct that Dorney is the park you want, especially as it seems the new team seems to be making things worse at the park already.

I should mention that if you do not have tickets already that you may want to buy the tickets with the meal off the haunt website. The meal is at 6 and is $6 more than the day rate and you can leave from there out of the park if you prepurchase the tickets from them. They did have actors scaring guests last year at the meal, so that may make you choose against it, but it might be a bit easier on the pocketbook to do the meal before leaving. My group is going this Friday and Sat and ordered in advance after enjoying it the last two years, so I can say the food is not bad and muich cheaper than getting everyone a meal on your own. This is, of course, assuming you aren't already holding tickets or have a season pass. I think it's $10 or $12 at the park, but is an option that way too.

The Wild Mice cars are fairly tight to me (the Dark Knight was an exception and felt fairly comfortable to us, but the Hershey and Dorney ones were not terribly comfortable to our large posteriors), but if you split one person in front and one in the back, I think you'll be okay. Just hold on. Those tight hairpin turns will fling you around!

Thanks for the advice! It's just me and my son, so meal prices aren't a big deal. I am going to buy tickets online because we'll save $8.

I really wish parks would be more specific about what size people will fit and not fit on rides. It seems like they're so scared of offending, all they say is stuff like "our "larger" guests might not be able to ride". What's "larger"?? 200 lbs? 500 lbs? How about estimating a waist size, that would help! Oh well.

I'm about 250lbs and a size 16/18 so...keeping my fingers crossed!

Sit in the last row of the Wild Mouse, there is more room there since the seats are low. I don't know if you are going to ride Possessed or not but the test seat is not accurate. I can't get the belt buckled on the test seat but on the actual train I can buckle the belt without any help from a ride op.

Thanks for the tip Hopefully my little guy will be okay riding in front by himself. And NO I'm not getting on Possessed lol.
