We went to a bar and saw a local band called Blame The Victim I saw a couple of months ago. It was great to see them again. My friend is a singer for another band and he was invited to sing a song with them onstage. It was their last show and everyone had a great time.

I went to Warped Tour yesterday, and it was a really good time. This was my first Warped Tour, so I wasn't really sure what to expect other than big crowds and a ton of bands. I got there really early because the line to get in will get really long, and I was smart enough to bring a couple bottles of water along for the day. From the second you pull up to the place, you will literally have people trying to sell you things left and right. When waiting in line to get in, there are small bands pushing their albums on you and clothing vendors pushing their products. If you ever go to a Warped Tour, just get used to saying "No, thank you" often, because I had to say that a lot throughout the day.

Aside from the people pushing their crap on you, the prices were really high for food and drinks, and most people working there seemed to be working for tips. So pretty much, Warped Tour was charging $4 for a bottle of water and then asking you to tip the person who takes your money. I was advised to go to Warped Tour with the attitude that I wasn't there to save money, and I think that it helped to just expect high prices and deal with it.

One important thing about Wared Tour: go with the flow. It's simply not possible to see every single band you want to see in one show. With the way the crowds work, I decided that I would rather get really close to a few bands that I love rather than be far away from a lot of bands I like. I missed some bands that I really like, but that's just to be expected from something like Warped Tour.

The tour itself was awesome though, but I'll let the photos do the talking.

Warp17.jpg.79c7104f5878df8f63c2a3aa60ae8923.jpg

It was a pretty awesome day. The only band left on the stage after Say Anything was Angels and Airwaves, so I gave my spot to a couple of girls and headed back to Gainesville for work in the morning. I stopped by the back half of We The King's set on the way out, but I forgot to take any pictures since I was pretty far back in the crowd.

oh btw, yes that is an autographed set list from Jack's Mannequin. Don't hate.

Warp16.jpg.25521c3d11d1c3435480b93e56199fb2.jpg

Max Bemis is just all sorts of amazing.

...Is a Real Boy is one of my favorite albums of all time, and he ended up in a mental hospital while making it.

Warp15.jpg.7a0ae7d31070d6353a31d4eefb99d517.jpg

I LOVE SAY ANYTHING.

...and that's pretty much all I have to say about that.

Warp14.jpg.0a91bab5518bb75149f094933a80677b.jpg

I headed back to the main stage because one of my favorite bands of all time was going to play in about an hour. This is Relient K, and they were the band playing before the band I came to see, so when they finished their last song I charged into the crowd and managed to navigate myself back the same place I saw Jack's Mannequin from.

(I don't play games, I REALLY wanted to be in front)

Warp12.jpg.b46285abfaf2c765e89d97e018ac6e91.jpg

I hung around the smaller stages for a while since I was pretty tired from being directly in the Florida heat for almost five hours at this point. This is Charlotte Sometimes playing on the Ernie Ball stage. I saw them in Columbia with We The Kings and they were really good, so I decided to check them out again as well as some other random bands that were playing the smaller stages.

Warp13.jpg.d0cfb9fa79aa4bb79030391d388f2aa0.jpg

So after being at the front of one of the main stages for three hours I decided to take a break from the crowd and walk around a bit. I managed to see the Katy Perry hanging out at her merch tent.

She's the reason that I was driving a van of 8 year old girls to Tampa a couple of days ago and all of them were screaming "I kissed a girl, and I liked it". So disturbing....

Warp11.jpg.cf08b8b45e2a15b206f8fa5eba5ab2bf.jpg

They put on a really fun performance, and their main guy came down to the crowd which was pretty sweet. I'm glad I stuck around for it, even though they're not really my style of music.

Warp10.jpg.b3cd9bb0578d013a50bd8e770f3d3db9.jpg

The guy from The Academy Is... came out and did a song with them

Warp9.jpg.2c84d187a7c3ab93510b1f8a36f77c67.jpg

Cobra Starship was the next band on the Main Stage (Right), and I decided to stick around since I had such a good spot in the crowd. I let some fanatical girls in front of me since I didn't really care about being in the very front, but I was still really close to the stage.

p.s., would it kill any of them to wear jeans that aren't made for girls, or is that not what the trendy kids do nowadays?

Warp8.jpg.7ecf377007f0ae2c1c6d1927067b5179.jpg

I was really happy to see these guys so close up at such a big tour, I really did have the best spot for the entire stage.

Warp7.jpg.b937661cda22b748606905eb5c714e09.jpg

They were really into their performance, which was awesome.

Warp6.jpg.098da162f11af53aa057c0e094e62582.jpg

It was finally time for Jack's Mannequin! I love these guys, and apparently they have a new album coming out in September.

Warp5.jpg.d42661ca004011d38f6f43acc54254e8.jpg

The security guy between the crowd and the stage had a very... umm.... "interesting" tattoo

Warp4.jpg.866bec78ab29c5a9c88083b0260f460e.jpg

You really couldn't get any closer than I was, because I'm just baller like that.

Warp3.jpg.599de788d36122f10afc236b89ff456a.jpg

I grabbed a front and center spot at the Main Stage (Right), because I really liked the second band playing on that stage. I had to suffer through a semi-decent performance from Street Dogs so that I wouldn't have to give up the best spot at the tour, but I was ok with that.

Warp2.jpg.839c493ee2414fd898ce79c3b6aaeedd.jpg

The first thing to do when you get inside is go check out the board. I brought a notepad and a pen so that I could write down all the bands I wanted to see so that I wouldn't have to keep coming back to check times.

Warp1.jpg.cacbc0538084b21134ac3b7aa3471ba1.jpg

I got there an hour and a half before gates opened, and this was the line already. It wasn't bad waiting as long as you had a good attitude about it, but it was kind of annoying having PETA trying to get you to sign a petition while some random band was trying to push their demo on you.

I went to Mayhem yesterday and slipknot destroyed the audience and mosh pit. There were literally people bleeding and it was amazing. Here is the order of my favorite bands at the concert so if you are going as it is a huge @$$ tour remember this as these bands are all totally awesome. These are all the bands I remember. I will review the main bandsd and the rest I will rate from least to greatest.

Slipknot- &^%^ YEAH, So totally awesome, we were in the rows of seats as mosh was pretty expensive but they pretty much owned the ampitheater for the hour long set. They are extremely energetic and were yelling and screaming, and going frickin crazy and are great live. 10/10

Disturbed- Ummm, They were great live but a lot of their songs sounded

the same, They were a pretty solid band and I had a great time seeing them though. 8.5/10

Dragonforce- Not as good as they are on thew CD but they were still really good. 8/10

Mastodon- I hate Mastodon but whatever they were not that bad live. 4/10

Here comes my ratings for bands not on the main stage

Suicide Silence 10/10 Craziest mosh known to man. OMG people were being like thrown and stuff

Machine Head- Another great band although bewfore this I was not at all familiar, another great mosh band 9-10

Underoath- The only Christian or probably the only band there that is not a Satan supporter. I am a very bad Christian as I was chanting 666 with everyone else but I think if I had said Jewsus I would have been shot. Anyway they were very good and had a fun mosh pit. This was the only band I moshed to as I was scared of all the others. I got owned 8/10

The Black Tide- A very cool ban due to the fact that the lead singer is like fifteen and the basist and drumber are like sixteen or seventeen. Also the lead singer/ guitarist was great at guitar and we had a great time with this band. 9/10

Airborn- They totally sucked, It had a lot to do with their Australians accents ( No offense to any Aussies) as the guys voice was kind of high and he was a terrible screamer 2/10

36 Crazy Fists- A pretty good band and also the first band we stopped and saw. They were not as good as machine head or suicide silence but they were still good and we enjoyed seeing them. 7.5/10

Those were all the band I remember and we did not see Walls of Jericho as they had a chick screamer ands she was not very good.

I cant wait until next year for mayhem #2. I wonder who will play as the main reason most of the bands were there was to promote new albums but hopefully they will have some more good bands on main stage.

If you get the refrence of my sig add that you know what that is in your post and you will be awesome in my eyes. Also tell me what song its from.

MAGGOTS UNITE!!!!!!!

Dude, I just mooched off the freebies all day. My bro and I just kept hitting up the Kraft mac 'n' cheese and Hansen energy drink stands. The workers didn't really care since they were working for the man.

I grabbed a front and center spot at the Main Stage (Right), because I really liked the second band playing on that stage. I had to suffer through a semi-decent performance from Street Dogs so that I wouldn't have to give up the best spot at the tour, but I was ok with that.

That's the way to do. When I went, I got to Main State Left an hour and a half before Less Than Jake played. Everytime a band on the left stage finished, the crowd scooted to the right, so we eventually were very front and center for LTJ. The last band on Main Stage Right before LTJ was Simple Plan, and by their last song, the entire Left Stage crowd was giving Simple Plan the finger and chanting "L-T-J."

It paid off 'cause the show was amazing, and out of the three guitar picks, set list, and can of water (yes, a can) that they throughout, I caught everything but one of the guitar picks. I'm pretty sure everybody hated me, but I really didn't care. And God bless Buddy for throwing that can of water. It was insanely hot and humid that day.

You really couldn't get any closer than I was, because I'm just baller like that.

Ha wow. Yeah, I had the same deal, only the lead singer of the Suicide Machines was actually dripping sweat all over me. It was fairly disgusting.

The security guy between the crowd and the stage had a very... umm.... "interesting" tattoo

Just... wow. People never cease to amaze/horrify me.

p.s., would it kill any of them to wear jeans that aren't made for girls, or is that not what the trendy kids do nowadays?

Apparently, that is what the cool kids are doing these days. How's it goin', Brent?

The guy from The Academy Is... came out and did a song with them

I'm sorry. How much gauze did you need for your bleeding ears? I saw The Academy Is... last summer and they quickly earned a spot in the Top 5 worst major bands I've ever seen live.

oh btw, yes that is an autographed set list from Jack's Mannequin. Don't hate.

Too late... douche bag.

Awesome pics, dude. As I mentioned, I went to the Warped Tour in 2003 and said I wouldn't miss it again, but I haven't been back since. Glad you had a good time. I'm definitely jealous.

LTJ had a merch tent set up at Warped Tour and I was sort of confused since they weren't playing, but they're certainly in my top 3 bands that I haven't seen live yet. When we were waiting for Say Anything to play on the right stage, people started booing Matisyahu since his set ran over time. That's awful that you had to be in the same area as Simple Plan though, they should have ended their set early so that LTJ could have played a longer one, haha.

I'm sorry. How much gauze did you need for your bleeding ears? I saw The Academy Is... last summer and they quickly earned a spot in the Top 5 worst major bands I've ever seen live.

Yeah, I made a point to avoid The Academy Is set, which wasn't that hard since there were plenty of good bands playing. Cobra Starship isn't really the type of band I would go out of my way to see, but they did put on a really fun set.

Too late... douche bag.

Hey! You got to meet Nate from The Format, so there will be no complaining from you!

I'm glad we see eye to eye on this one! They still managed to play a great set in their 30 minute time slot. I actually burned a CD of all the songs in the set list order after the show, just because I'm an LTJ nerd like that.

Cobra Starship isn't really the type of band I would go out of my way to see, but they did put on a really fun set.

Yeah, apparently they opened the FOB show I saw in Chicago last year. However, I was completely unaware, barely cared, and they had already played by the time I showed up... just in time for Paul Wall. Oh joy...

There are a few Cobra Starship songs I kind of like, but for the most part, it's all too electronic for me. I liked the lead singer's old band, Midtown, a lot better. They weren't anything terribly special, but played some good, fun rock.

Touche!

So I guess I probably shouldn't even mention how I got to go back to the tour bus area after the Warped Tour and meet some of the bands, should I?

EDIT: Why the hell did Jack's Mannequin close with "La La Lie"? That's a horrible closer! It's a fine song, but a horrible closer!

I scored some free tickets to see Sammy Hagar and the Wabos last Friday at a local casino. It was a very energetic and fun show. It helps that he knows his crowd and plays a lot of Van Hagar stuff. Its still no where near the best concert I've seen this year. I don't think anyone will top the Foo Fighters.

On a side note of the Sammy show, I could have sworn Dave, (meteornotes) was there rocking out. I've never met him, but it looked just like the dude in his TR's. I thought it was all about death metal and carnivorous bees?

Sir Paul McCartney on the Plains Of Abraham in Quebec City on July 20th, 2008.

What a show! After waiting for thirteen hours in line for the free concert, Sir Paul McCartney gave me, three friends and around 200, 997 others three hours of sheer perfection. From the opening "Jet" to the perfect closing song in "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Reprise/ The End", it was all just...wow. I've acheived a goal in life by seeing Sir Paul live and in turn, it was the greatest concert I shall ever bear witness too. Nothing can ever top it...ever.

I saw Journey, Heart, and Cheap Trick last night. Cheap Trick was ok, they had a few songs I knew. Heart was really good, especially there 70's rock stuff. Barracuda was friggin awesome. Journey was really good also. Its strange to see a Phillipino guy up there belting out Don't Stop Believing, but he sounds exactly like Steve Perry and has great showmanship. I was very impressed with them.

Shout It Loud tour with Less Than Jake, Big D And The Kids Table, and Suburban Legends. It was awesome. Less Than Jake was easily the best act of the night, SO much fun. I'm super tired from skanking/moshing last night, which IMO is a good thing. Can't wait to see these guys again.

The last concert I saw was Gigantour featuring In Flames, Children of Bodom, and headlined by Megadeth. I really want to see the Metal Masters with Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, and Testament but dont really have the money for the ticket + parking + gas to Tinley Park...damn.

Anyway I saw Gigantour at the Rave in Milwaukee, a band called "High on Fire" opened, they were pretty good, not really memorable.

Job For a Cowboy was next and they were interesting to say the least...youtube a video, they're hard to explain.

Children of Bodom came up next and just kicked the places ass, the pits were crazy and they gave a brutally awesome live performance.

In Flames came on next, they were also very good though I dont think could match the performance of Bodom. They dont move around the stage at all they just stand there and swirl their hair which is badass.

Megadeth was next and they gave an AMAZING live performance as always. The new lead guitarist Chris Broderick is incredible, even better than Marty Friedman and they just kicked the places ass. Not only that they played for like 2 hours straight and the concert went hours longer than it was supposed to. They intro'd with Sleepwalker, then played Wake Up Dead then I dont remember all of the songs but I do remember Washington Is Next, Hangar 18, In My Darkest Hour, Peace Sells, A Tout Le Monde, Skin O My Teeth, Sweating Bullets, and ended with Holy Wars. Also I took a ton of awesome pics but during Trust some security guy grabbed me and made me delete all of them (bastard).

Here are some the venues photographers took from that concert
