I think it just needs a woodie to be complete.

I've heard this so often and don't understand it. Why does a park need to have a woodie to be "complete?"

Some of the best parks in the world don't have wooden coasters: Europa Park, Silver Dollar City, Alton Towers, Epcot, etc...

But imagine if each of those had a Prowler clone.

Sure it would be a great addition, but I don't think it's mandatory for a park to have a woodie.

Sometimes I wonder if those who say this have actually been to the park before. It certainly doesn't need one to be complete...would be cool but not necessary.

I know what the "surprise" is on Thunderation. It's a great mine train, that's for sure.

Also, there's a CAVE at SDC?!?!??? Wow....I feel stupid. I went there in '03 and thoroughly enjoyed the park, but had absolutely no clue there was a cave underneath it. Something to do for next time I guess!

A few pics brought back memories of living in the midwest when I was in college:

wof55.jpg

The last time I rode this, it malfunctioned and did the cycle three times. I could barely walk off it and people were throwing up everywhere. Ended up being a fun date to remember.

lam93.jpg

I went here, ONCE. They were aiming for the black man's head on purpose and throwing them like baseballs! Hopefully they have a bit more class now.

I personally liked the restaurant that was the home of the little round pies. They didn't throw them and they were quite tasty.

I was actually there today. relized as I was getting ready to go that TPR would be there. Was hoping to run into the Alvey's to say thanks for Club TPR..

Were you the one we ran into in line for Powder Keg and the train?? Just trying to put two and two together!

Nope not me. Actually was only there for a couple of hours. Actually trying to make sure I am where I need to be for my 5 park adventure in 2 weeks.

Theme Park Review has rented out a St. Louis icon...the City Museum!

SL24.jpg.8e5512bbdef9daa67124c9559e5069d2.jpg

It's difficult to describe City Museum... It's like a 10 story Chuck E Cheese play structure made by insane welders for adults to torture themselves on!

SL25.jpg.0f2d1ab7cabcb8459c84927da6422f10.jpg

One of many City Museum's many random slides.

SL26.jpg.614e5fcaf3df60281dd764cf7b9bdd33.jpg

There are tubes and chutes to crawl through everywhere.

SL27.jpg.83c22825874aa8999e20220e853b6ad2.jpg

Another slide!

SL28.jpg.d6e60b7add0271d728081f12fcf8d321.jpg

The BIG slide!

SL29.jpg.eb6cbe20fa2d96f084142a8968e288c9.jpg

There are hidden mazes and hallways everywhere. It's like part Winchester House, part insane play structure.

SL30.jpg.db2618968df0451096dd57007f298b30.jpg

Outside on the roof - 10 stories up!

SL31.jpg.488ec041411b47ea95e28775728c1373.jpg

We are totally lost in here!!!

SL32.jpg.25104c2eacddebba76a2a9a5c7f66055.jpg

I found a way out!!!

SL33.jpg.d9d9fc64f0d43ba8ce41fa75fa93306f.jpg

In the skate park room everything is a slide.

SL34.jpg.3c8fc3957322c90a18016b26bc89369d.jpg

There are random exhibits in between all the insanity.

SL35.jpg.b3a2fe277001f0f2c94698827f33717f.jpg

City Museum used to be an old shoe factory warehouse that has been converted.

SL36.jpg.fc7492dbd9b91354d5318495c5f65f1b.jpg

Spiral slides.

SL37.jpg.d2ffab1fb4f36e8e3cd4148ceace7f55.jpg

City Museum is KidTums approved!

SL38.jpg.a593002f4b20a45c634cf62e44998127.jpg

This way to the cave slides.

SL40.jpg.fff94356ba820ac2577a0256186a8847.jpg

To get to the slides first you have to get through the cave!

SL41.jpg.0820c7d8d7e9edd9b4c4954b06a81b93.jpg

Where are the slides????

SL42.jpg.4109b92c0ba73c52b319470ecd6310d3.jpg

The cave slides, aka Shoe Slides are 10 stories tall and used to serve as the system to transport shoes to the shipping department.

SL43.jpg.520c64ba3eb81d40090d810047b43df3.jpg

Yes, human bodies fly down these slides!!!

SL44.jpg.bdda9b4b94c86dae4557e3c66d1f45d0.jpg

Yup! That is a long way down!!!

SL45.jpg.d3a90b3f15313abe241e05b45cece631.jpg

You kind of flop around like a rag dog all the way down!

SL46.jpg.ee8c4730cde0a6a370cc09bbbb38aeb4.jpg

The shoe slides are one of the main attractions of City Museum. Do not miss these!

SL47.jpg.138c00a6f08a9293418cf11bb7ef39d3.jpg

Up on the roof area there is the swing of death!

SL48.jpg.a5b4b330a146ea914635011591be333b.jpg

Push! Everyone push!!!

SL49.jpg.8b4e53fe6ae43427f96ef24a93bedcee.jpg

This is completely insane!

SL50.jpg.2fa97eb402c1b37cc3d666b6ddf8f09d.jpg

And if the swing of death wasn't crazy enough you could climb all the way to the top of the roof!

SL51.jpg.93eed081d184944b3bb90b86277808cb.jpg

Yup! You can climb up there!

SL52.jpg.2d9dddf4ff8f07420f6196e4bf32d817.jpg

The instructions at the top of the shoe slides.

SL53.jpg.132ab752d742abfd9819be0218023b8f.jpg

Holy f**k! This really might be the most insane thing I've ever done!!!

SL54.jpg.4ebb8a3c990402e21d2c5033add5e7ad.jpg

Well! Here goes nothing!!!

SL55.jpg.e201023067844e8bc110d55ec41ef45a.jpg

SL63.jpg.f775dc652942fff2fa71127749224863.jpg

Hey! I found a secret passage!

SL64.jpg.1fbd8dca00f1d87746b32087f81bf80e.jpg

Crap! Back in the caves again!!!

SL66.jpg.b035d285250b9519c3da8e16c8f84921.jpg

Help me!!!

SL68.jpg.edf76e6bfe99c1bedc12303358a19164.jpg

KidTums will come and save you TPDave!

SL69.jpg.837435a1cc68b0073a2963acd2436572.jpg

This is the only "park map" available. You need to explore and find all the cool stuff on your own.

SL70.jpg.13538221dbacbd12ad9fd5b0b2f30d17.jpg

NOTED!!!

SL71.jpg.85d5e5431060d82ee270902ac2df441c.jpg

The rooftop awaits!!!

SL72.jpg.fbab8a3870fcd5971849173e4d213fe3.jpg

And yes the rooftop is just as insane as the rest of the place.

SL73.jpg.b98739fc0c1750d067bb2c074e6feb3c.jpg

Yes!! There is even a Ferris wheel on the roof!

SL74.jpg.a8d3d1ea1ea8b50aa514ddf58f8116e0.jpg

This place is just crazy!!!

SL75.jpg.af548ea3bf7dd5022d184fa03ab29b62.jpg

The Ferris Wheel is the most "normal" thing in this entire place!

SL76.jpg.152b27510d21be99cc5adf2c44255d41.jpg

Hey everyone! There is a good chance tonight that one of us is going to die!!!

SL77.jpg.f787ee73d4cbe509826aea99504ad6c3.jpg

SL81.jpg.0047fc21db4af740a1bf9bb6199b66d6.jpg

See? School bus off the roof of the building!

SL82.jpg.1d858bbc003dc4eb31d1af4a595da165.jpg

GIANT ball pit!!!

SL88.jpg.54d50815b39467d2fc785a786e7e275e.jpg

This place really is made for adults! Like someone was all "Why isn't there a Chuck E Cheese for adults that refuse to grow up?" and this place was made.

SL89.jpg.481727e517b94a7c86b1ce1cac25d8ef.jpg

I'm not even sure what this is!!!

SL90.jpg.7737555b59cfd31238b5b11c259d5be5.jpg

Quick! Someone close the vault!!!

SL98.jpg.0498e668021025825048efe4735c8638.jpg

Hey! They have a random Big Boy!!!

SL99.jpg.cda73c594ac7177797e46a8698c517f9.jpg

Now let's take a break and check out the random weird "museum exhibits."

SL100.jpg.406396c5b9acf0bf47ea4a991c06750c.jpg

Um...yeah.

SL101.jpg.d9a3c2d55e8d278f195daf8909fabd40.jpg

SL105.jpg.766e9db4a01ec0d647708f346a8e2235.jpg

I don't know what this is, but it's really cool!

SL106.jpg.f543ce499f005adf9d27d2ff0a52af21.jpg

Oh look...more people stuck in these wire things.

SL107.jpg.a82047875556c31c46e4eb2811313a3b.jpg

In the skate park room, TPR took over the giant pencil! (I can't believe I just wrote that sentence.)

SL108.bmp

You had to be personally chosen by KidTums to sit on the top of the slide.

SL109.bmp

And then we all went at once!

SL110.bmp

KidTums chooses her next group of sliders.

SL111.jpg.6b26295a7a45477551f0a34e02b49417.jpg

Slide bitches!!!

Jake is dead. You can tell by the trail of nasty sweat.

SL113.jpg.30eca53a0c4429ab1b7384a5e4f84211.jpg

Time to go climb around the airplanes.

SL114.jpg.004456acc6655b31869433d0d9239038.jpg

Yup, these are real planes!

SL115.jpg.b2f60926c3de03c964662640bd754f01.jpg

They have converted the planes into slides and play structures.

SL116.jpg.6d269809b2994511c491f8e690775bc8.jpg

You can crawl through and sit in the cockpit!

SL117.jpg.ec3709f1269dbd99caf86b5c23ce6fa4.jpg

TPR's takeover of City Museum was AMAZING! One of the single best moments of any TPR trip! This place is totally insane. While it might not be a real "theme park", it probably is more interesting and more thrilling than some parks on this trip! We highly recommend checking it out next time you're in St. Louis!

I actually went to the city museum before they had even completed it. It was open on new year's eve '96 and all they practically had done was most of the whale on the first floor and it was fun then just running through that building and all of its different rooms. It looks completely awesome now and can't wait to get back to stl in October so I can visit it. Wish I was there with all of you.
