Haunted Houses

Mr. Cleaver's Bloodshed:

Cool & Creamy/2nd Games Warehouse

Within the depths of the slaughterhouse, innocent mortals will witness a gruesome massacre as murderous butchers and maniacal plant workers lacerate the tender flesh of their human victims. “Slice and dice” will take on a whole new meaning inside this brutal meatpacking plant.

Chateau Du Damne:

If you survive the visit, you’ll make your way outside to the fabled gardens. The Baron hopes you partake in the delights of his fauna. From there the gardens exit to the entrance of the Chateau’s graveyard and mausoleum where you can meet other visitors who never left. If you’re lucky, perhaps you may leave to live another day. If not, the Chateau always has room for more.

Mangler Asylum:

Bumper Cars

Over a century of torture and pain live within the walls of this defunct facility that housed one of America’s most notorious sanatoriums, the Mangler Asylum. At the turn of the century, Dr. Frederick Mangler conducted numerous dreadful experiments on the local unfortunates. Within these halls, his hideous endeavors opened the door to the evil nature of man and his most disturbing nightmares. Some say the wicked doctor unlocked the barrier between reality and nightmare.

With lack of funds and Dr. Mangler’s mysterious passing in the 1970’s, the asylum staff abandoned the facility, leaving the building and grounds unsupervised. Most patients died of a slow miserable death, but some still linger living off the decaying corpses of the dead. The doors of this evil place will now unseal. Guests will be invited within the bloody asylum walls, which house a collection of living fears and phobias waiting to wreak havoc on innocent souls. They could venture, if they dare, into the unholy depths of the building where Dr. Mangler conducted his most bizarre experiments...that is, IF THEY MAKE IT.

While you are waiting in line, you look and notice something different-- there are only clowns around you. As you enter the tent through the clown’s eye the music changes and the only thing you can hear are the screams of those who passed into the tent before you. You have to get out. Who will have “The Last Laff?”

The Asylum:

Meet Dr. Starkweather, but do not question his methods of treatment. His cruel tortures caused the deaths of many mentally unstable. Their bodies never to be found again. Now, spirits have been seen in dozens of the rooms; their shrill cries and tortured screams are often heard in the desolate hallways. The Starkweather Center for the Insane has it all-- cold spots, disembodied voices, and apparitions roaming the halls. The atmosphere is further darkened by a chilling history of mass death and of patient abuse. Ever since the doors at Starkweather were chained shut there have been rumors. Rumors about the patients and staff, and the chilling fact that they will never, ever leave THE ASYLUM.

Dead Inn:

These stories always start out with a dream. This one is no different. John Cole and his family had always wanted to open up a cozy little inn in the country. They scrimped and saved for years to bring their dream to reality. In the summer of 1963 the Park View Inn opened for business. After several months with few guests, John became obsessed with making their plan work.

His obsession began to tear his family apart. Following the one year anniversary of the opening the conditions had not improved. John's wife left with their kids and decided it would be best if they went their separate ways. Losing his wife pushed John even further over the edge and he decided that he would make the Inn a success. John believed that if the inn were a success he could win back his one true love, but fate had other plans in store.

Within months of his wife leaving, John began to change and reality began to fade away. He saw each guest that came to his Inn with suspicion, believing that they caused his wife to leave him. Several guests that had visited the inn simply disappeared, never to be seen again. The sheriff’s office began to investigate the disappearances but was not able to learn the truth.

On October 13th 1964 John reached his breaking point. In a violent rampage he murdered 18 innocent guests who had made the mistake of staying at the little inn. Following the massacre, John walked into the front office and slit his own throat.

For years, several owners tried to revive the cozy little inn, unfortunately all of their attempts failed. The story of the massacre is too well known, all of the locals call the inn by a more sinister moniker, Dead Inn. Only a few years ago the inn was condemned and boarded up. The old building that was built on dreams is off limits. Even to this day locals claim that the ghost of John Cole and his victims still roam the rooms.

Within the doors of the Park View Inn history is coming alive room by room.

Who will be the next victim at the Dead Inn?

The Slaughterhouse:

For sixty two years, generations of men made their way to the outskirts of town and worked in the dimly lit corridors and bloody death rooms of the Shady Lake’s Pork Processing Plant. For sixty two years, father’s ritually passed down to their sons the secrets of how to best “stick a pig.” For sixty two years they fought against their own primal nature and tried not to “enjoy” their work of committing unspeakable acts of violence and murder upon millions of innocent and defenseless pigs. They succeeded for sixty two years…

Finally, all of the killing and torture has taken its toll on the sanity of the butchers at Shady Lakes. The pigs have now become too boring. Too predictable. Not even smart enough to hide. The crazed butchers have decided that it is time to make their work “fun” again.

You are about to enter a place that you will wish did not exist; A place where your last breath is controlled by the twisted and insane. How many ways are there to die? Our butchers have decided to find the answer to that question. Over the year’s, they have become very creative.

Have YOU been chosen to be their next little piggy?

At the local hospital, the virus has begun spreading from patient to patient by direct physical contact or by the means of non sterilized medical equipment. If the virus doesn’t kill you, fear might! Those who make it through will be too terrified by what they’ve seen to speak of it again.

Along the way you will encounter many of the Manor’s inhabitants – most of them long since departed.

Join the circus like you wanted to when you were a kid … permanently! Despite the presence of elephants, giraffes and other circus animals, this is not your run-of-the-mill Big Top. Only the most determined will make it out alive.

Canada's Wonderland Halloween Haunt

Haunted Houses & Mazes

Blood on the Bayou (New for 2010):

Behind Splashworks

Residents along the Louisiana bayou have long been warned not to venture too far from the water’s edge; beyond the opulent river mansions lies a mysterious, twisted world where curses are whispered in the dark and no one ever makes it back to shore. Those who go too far are soon driven mad with fear and bloodlust so be cautious – there’s no telling what you could wake in the Bayou.

Club Blood:

Next to Time Warp

At the hottest new nightclub in town, they line up to get in, but no one makes it out alive. Because inside this devilish dance hall, vampires staff the bar and the DJ booth in an effort to lure the most edible into their isolated lair. The most delicious dancers are invited to the VIP lounge, where away from the throbbing heartbeat of the music, the vampires slowly suck the life from their victims.

Kingdom of Carnage:

Pod 2 (Courtyard behind Dragon Fyre)

Castle Carnage had a dark and twisted reputation for using medieval torture methods on their prisoners; but what could the starving peasants do to save those captured, and where were the chivalrous knights to resettle order? Bertilak de Hautdesert gave up hope on being rescued, and rallied the prisoners to overthrow the cruel tyrannical nobility. The torture which they had long been subjected to has now come full circle on their royal oppressors in a scene of carnage that makes Countess Bathory’s castle look like a holiday retreat. Let the brave of heart and noble of spirit beware: chivalry is dead.

Mother Noose:

Medieval Maze (Laser Tag)

When the Grimm brothers set out to document folktales from across the country side, they had no idea about the dark horrors they would encounter. Tales of massacre, evil creatures, ferocious beasts, bloody endings . . .certainly not the romanticized fairy tales we all grew up with. Mother Noose has revitalized these forgotten and censored tales, for anyone brave enough to see just how dark the dark ages really were; and be introduced to the chilling side of such classics as Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and Briar Rose. Be warned, those who escape this maze will find themselves disenchanted.

Red Beard's Rage:

Pod 1 (Courtyard behind Dragon Fyre)

The legendary pirate known as Red Beard is said to have led his crew into a massacre when they set to the sea for a preemptive strike against the Spaniards; but neither he or his ship was ever found. A single surviving manuscript details how his mistress, a sea witch who was later burnt at the stake, cast a spell to keep Red Beard and his crew from fully crossing into death. His ship has continued to haunt the stormy seas for centuries. Now it has set up dock and Red Beard and his crew await new victims to help them fulfill their bloodlust.

Clowns at Midnight:

Bumper Cars

In 1857 the circus top tent caught on fire. The spectators escaped unharmed, but the performers were left behind to choke on the heavy smoke and burn in the infernal heat. The audience claimed they thought it was part of the show, but the angry spirits of the clowns and circus freaks do not believe such a claim, and know that the spectators simply did not believe the freaks were worth the effort to save. Every night, the circus freaks appear to perform their act in an attempt to lure in fresh blood until they have gathered enough to return to this world for good.

The Asylum:

Tent behind Wonder Theater

In 1923 Miles Gravestone was admitted to the asylum after surviving the curse of Slaughter Mill. No one believed his story, and most believed that it was he who gruesomely murdered his camping friends. The doctors forced electroshock therapy while the nurses cruelly sedated him with rusty needles. Pushed to his psychological brink, his sorrow and fear exploded in a rage of fury and he gathered all the other inmates to form a revolt. The inmates have taken over the asylum entirely, and those doctors and nurses who survived such actions are just as deranged as their former patients.

BloodShed:

Kingswood Theater

When the headless horseman realized his head was not in the possession of the humans, he ravaged the Van Tassels’ barn, tearing through the helpless workers and animals that got in his way. The dilapidated barn is now haunted by rabid animals out for revenge against all things human, and the corpses of deceased farm hands roam about in loathsome madness.

Cornstalkers:

Beside Timber Wolf Falls

With the Van Tassel family and their farm hands all dead, the fields of the Van Tassel Farmstead have become overgrown with two centuries of colonial debris and corn. The evil which occurred on the farmstead that night has sunk into the once lifeless bodies of scarecrows, which now consider these fields theirs, and will stalk and scare any crows, animals or humans who dare set foot onto their soil.

I think this Sleepy Hollow deal sounds pretty cool actually. Canada's Wonderland used to have a VERY heavy theme pertaining to the Headless Horseman/Sleepy Hollow before CF took over, and with Pyromaniax changing into this, it could mean some very cool change theme wise for CF Haunts. Definitely looking forward to seeing how things turn out this fall.

^It's always one of the better Haunts at Wonderland. I am sure Club Blood will be back as well as that was a hit last year. I really hope that silly fair tale one is gone...it was good the first year but last year they just seemed to not even bother with scares inside...it was pretty bad. Wonderland needs to take the step to the next level and really start putting good scares in their haunts, last year all I can remember is walking like 20 ft and seeing security which really kills the theme...sure put them in there, but hide them so we can lose ourselves in the theming.

I think I may skip this year as well as the haunts have been mostly the same over the past couple of years and it's not worth it if you know what scare is coming up next.

Just a minor mistake for Kings Dominion's Haunt attraction line-up. Club Blood is in Huler's Structure and not Grizzly's.

KD's Haunt seems like its going to be awesome this year. I can't wait to check it out, the new mazes/former mazes locations all go with the section now mostly (especially the Doll Factory in the former "KidZville Construction Company). I love the new "scare zone"... The Ruins. I was at KD today and while walking through the Congo I was thinking of all of the cool things they could do.

I cannot wait for Haunt at KD this year!! Last year was amazing, and I'm sure this year will be just good. I'm really glad they removed Big Top Terror, it was just a terrible maze. The Doll Factory and Camp KILLaUee sound promising, and The Asylum is just Maze of Madness "freshened up".

Also, poor Valleyfair; they don't get anything new this year!

Can't wait to see what King's Island and Canada's Wonderland do for Haunt this year!

Asylum was mentioned on the previous page. Carowinds actually built a permenent building for theirs, so I guess it's around for a while unless they change the maze inside it.

It's located right behind Nighthawk and is used for storage the rest of the year.

I need to hit Camp K. this year cause I forgot to hit it last year, and looking forward to the new maze.

I wonder if Stan will be back in the swamp again this year.

Matt (aka the unofficial King of Haunt), this is an awesome list! I have to admit that I'm surprised (and relieved) to see no changes to the VF line-up as I heard some replacements were on-tap.

This is just a guess, but I'm also betting VF's Blood Creek will be re-routed with the upcoming Planet Snoopy construction. One thing's for sure, my headstone won't be around for everyone to run into/hide behind anymore .

I'm crossing my fingers for a weekend trip to see Carowinds' Haunt...sounds like they have some great stuff!

Just some corrections on the Canada's Wonderland Haunt. Switch the locations of Blood on the Bayou and Blood Shed. Blood Shed is at kingswood and BOTB is t splashworks. Also the BOTB description is Club Blood's. This is the real description:

Those who go too far are soon driven mad with fear and bloodlust so be cautious – there’s no telling what you could wake in the Bayou.

Thanks for the corrections - I'm going off of what I've seen on CWMania since CW doesn't post the locations along with their Haunts.

Blood on the Bayou sounds very interesting. Reincarnation of KSF's Blood Bayou?

^ Very cool...that's one of the best full-faced prosthetics I've seen! Awesome airbrush job and it fits your face really well. Was the chin a separate piece that you could move?

Any TPR members working a CF Halloween Event this year?

Here's a couple of my favorite Zombie Kara pics:
