I am not a fan of flat turns.

I mean, if you have a collection of wooden coasters, one of them has to make the noble sacrifice as a ride for laterals.

^Just stating my preference. IMHO Legend was running better than all the other woodies there this last season. I just don't care for flat turns. Most of the Helix Tunnel is filled with them, and that happens to be my least favorite part of the ride. I would much more prefer outward banked turns. Laterals are my least favorite element on any coaster. But the combined airtime with the opposite direction to the turn creates much less of a neck whip than you get from just the sudden unbanked jerk. That was my biggest complaint with the Texas Rattler. Too many flat turns, especially during that god awful triple helix up on the ridge. It was brutal! I was so happy with the Iron Horse reprofile of that ride.

Maybe a new station for The Legend? I love the theme of The Legend, but I think a new station that looks even more like an old school house would be perfect. I love the old school bell and the howl sound effect, so I hope they don't change those, but I doubt they will. I still can't decide what I think they are doing about the track. I keep imagining a steel track with a launch, but I know that probably wont happen. Whatever they are doing, I am sure The Legend will be running better than ever.

It would be great if they did some theming for Frightful Falls. It really doesn't have much theming now, but has a lot of potential. I have had my eye on Frightful Falls for the past few years, watching for signs of plans to update it, or retire it. At the beginning of this past season I noticed them working on the Frightful Falls observation deck area, but I never figured out exactly what they did other than put up a new fence. I have had a feeling since then that they were doing more than just replace a fence. I noticed that Frightful Falls got new cameras last season, so that makes me think they might have plans for the ride, like better theming.

One of the two guys who designed The Legend, Dennis McNulty, commented on that Holiblog and said "Legend has it that the survey stakes were high…"

Don't know what that means, but thought it was interesting.

Also, Paula commented on another site and said this wasn't a "keeping up with the jones" deal with KK and that this is something Will Koch always wanted to do on The Legend.

^ I've had my eye on them as well. I believe it was last year before TB was announced and we were speculating about the old PP/ Giraffica station and plot of land and what would become of it. I have said that they should update frightful falls and retheme it, and also completely remover Rafing Rapids. Then they could make an even better Raging Rapids style ride(maybe some kind of first) over where PP used to be. Then it would open a ton of free land for an expansion of Fourth of July and maybe Halloween, Splashing Safari, or Thanksgiving. The other land plot I could see them changing and moving is the old time cars from where they are to maybe a new place that doesn't take up as much land, which could free up land for Halloween and Fourth of July and maybe even Christmas. Maybe a new kiddie land or an intermediate coaster

All three of the woodies have TONS of laterals, The Legend just happens to have the most vicious and sustained. Here's hoping it stays that way.

Yup I was saying the EXACT same thing... Actually I think you and I were the ones having that conversation, lol.

Removing the laterals from the helix basically makes it a huge waste of time. I understand that there are other people don't prefer laterals that much, but hey, there's a whole lot of other coasters in the world for you to ride. Can I maybe preserve one or two that actually have changes in direction? Because no amount of changes to Legend is ever going to make it Balder or Phoenix if that's your type of ride.

I personally love the double helix and its my favorite part of the ride. It shouldn't be painful because you are already up against the side of the train. If you sit on the right side than it can be uncomfortable, but sitting on the left is just plain fun.

100%. The Legend is the only coaster I've ridden or can easily think of that provides the kind of experience that it does. Straining against the laterals in the helix and four corners finale is the very essence of the ride and neutering those turns in any way or trying to carve airtime out of them somehow will only make it a poor imitation of other coasters that were designed to do different things. I hope HW realizes there are still plenty of people who appreciate the uniqueness of this coaster.

I may be reading more into this than I should, but I've been examining still frames from the "Dear Santa" video, and I noted that the drawing of the Legend in the background has some sections of the track shown double and, in one place, tripled. Now that the photo of the survey stakes is out, it looks like they are going to move some of the curves and other sections of the track.

I was just thinking about how Hallowswing is taken down for off season maintenance and painting. I know they that they always take rides apart during the winter to do maintenance, paint, keep them out of winter weather, etc., but Hallowswings looked like it was getting completely taken apart for new paint. Will Hallowswings be put back in the same spot? If they have ever thought about moving it, now would be a good time. I am not sure where they would move it though. Are Hallowswings conveniently out of the way for work going on nearby? They are obviously working on The Legend, but they could also be working on the Splashin' Safari entrance.

In an Instagram photo from 8 weeks ago, they had pieces of Hallowswings lined up against the side of the old theater near the fountain where they put Holidogs 3D maze during Halloween weekends. Is that near the paint shop? It also almost looks like the Halloween section sign in the background has been moved a little bit, but I think it is probably just the angle of the picture. It looks like the Halloween section sign got new paint.

I have been thinking about the Sparkler location, and maybe Revolution or Liberty Launch could be moved there. Revolution was down during Halloween Weekends. I am not sure why it was down, but that made me think about them possibly moving it. The whole area with Revolution, Liberty Launch, bumper cars, and Indian River seems a bit dated. There is also a seating area that I think used to be a theater that seems kind of wasted. I am not complaining, it really isn't that bad, and they have done a lot of good updates in that area in recent years. That area just has a lot of potential.

They had that Strike U Up game in Sparklers old spot for a little while last season. At least I think they had it there. It was on the map there, but before I got around to checking it out, it had been moved to Thanksgiving. Maybe they will move it back.

This picture is from December 20, 2015. It almost looks like Liberty Launch was moved into Sparklers old spot, but I think it just looks that way from the angle of the picture.

"60+ miles" as in 60+ mph?? The rides top speed is already 59 mph, so a redesign of the first drop could allow for a higher top speed.

EDIT: Never mind. Holiday World says it's top speed is 65 mph according to their website. I was going by RCDB originally.

I don't know LOL.

So I've watched this video a few times now and I am clueless. Apparently this is something that Will had always wanted to do to the Legend so I doubt the layout would change much. For the life of me I can't figure it out. Paula did REALLY good this time.

EDIT TO ADD: I also wonder if they aren't adding a go-cart attraction of some type. They could use a tunnel on such a thing. She never ever said all that stuff was devoted to the coasters. The coasters themselves may just be getting slightly more than normal track work and the big thing would be the addition of the go-carts.
