Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Holiday World has sent us a press release about Splashin' Safari's latest honor, this time from TripAdvisor.com.

The world’s largest travel site - TripAdvisor.com - just announced the nation’s top water parks, and Holiday World’s Splashin’ Safari is on that list.

The 40-acre water park, among the largest in the world, was named the #4 park in the nation and #13 in the world, following only Disney and SeaWorld parks in the U.S. rankings.

“For Splashin' Safari to be named among the nation’s top water parks is a huge tribute to our Hosts and Hostesses,” says park president Matt Eckert. “The votes for this TripAdvisor award came from our visitors, who were impressed with not only our fantastic line up of water rides, but also the friendliness of our staff. We greatly appreciate the many reviews posted on TripAdvisor – we read every one.”

Splashin’ Safari is home to the world’s two longest water coasters, Mammoth and Wildebeest, plus dozens of other water attractions, slides, and wave pools.

The review quoted on TripAdvisor’s “Travelers Choice Awards” webpage mentions the park’s "excellent value." Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari offer free soft drinks, sunscreen, parking, and use of inner tubes and Wi-Fi.

Holiday World & Splashin' Safari are open daily. For more information, visit HolidayWorld.com or call 1-877-463-2645.

^ The footers are square and have a almond cutout. B&M is the only coaster manufacturer that uses that footer design.

Translated- The words are a bit mixed up.

"The Swiss finally take the LSM launch coaster in their portfolio. In recent years seemed B & M this trend has missed."

We have solid evidence that this could be a B&M launched coaster. Granted, it doesn't say where, but it does say that they're going to be designing one at some point. Could be now, could be later.

Solid evidence that this could be..... so that's not 100% sure then.

Did I say 100%? My point was that you can't just dismiss the fact that it can't be launched coaster because B&M hasn't built one. We have an article saying that an LSM launched coaster is the next coaster type that B&M is adding to their portfolio. To me, that is solid evidence. Not saying it is 100%, but it is enough to be able to make a realistic guess that this might indeed a be a launched coaster.

^ I know you didn't. My original post was in response to another post saying there was no solid evidence that this could be a launch. I felt I needed to explain that to properly respond to your post.

No worries.

Reading back over this thread I have to say you have made some really good points.

I have no idea what this will be but you have made some observations that make sense out of all the speculation on here.

I'm not trying to argue with you (ok maybe a little)... but only in good fun, gotta have some kind of distraction from the constant "what could it be" talking.

Seriously though I think out of everybody that has posted I'm going to follow along with what you have mentioned because it just makes the most sense.

Is it a B&M launched flyer? Maybe.... maybe not..... who knows! But one thing is for sure.... whatever it is, it's going to be good!

^ This is my home park and I'm very passionate about it. Some times I come across as a little argumentative, but that comes from participating in college classes where open debates were welcomed. I do it all for the fun as well, plus it keeps the discussion on this thread going. As I said before, I'm not trying to make anybody go along with what I'm saying. I'm just making realistic observations based on what the park as given us and what we've found independently. It could be a launched flyer, it could be a launched terrain looper. I could care less as long as it is awesome!

Gotcha, totally understand.

Evidence that B&M may at some point build a launch coaster is not evidence that this ride will be a launch coaster. Nothing in the clues hint at a launch, nothing written in the blog hints at a launch.

Price tag, probable size of the layout, manufacturer, how they keep talking about it being one BIG thing, all of this says hyper to me. "First hyper with inversions" would be a very big deal.

That's ma guess.

My name is Collin and I enjoy this site. I have been reading but haven't posted yet. I figured now would be as good of a time as any with this huge announcement coming up. I cannot wait! A thought came to my mind today regarding Holiday World's new ride. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but does anyone think this ride might break the inversion record for most inversions in the USA with eight? I was thinking if they were going for a record breaker maybe it could be inversions.

Wonder why they still have the boats for Giraffica, could they be planning a new flume for 2016 using what is left of Giraffica. I would have thought when they took the structure down for Giraffica they would have sent the boats back, makes me think we may see a replacement for Giraffica in 2016. They could use a new Flume ride, Frightful Falls is getting old, that would clear some space in Halloween for something?

Ok I have a question/thought for those of you that are into engineering and construction. In the picture here I'm posting from the construction cam. Is it just me or does the footer I circled in red on the LEFT look like it has a water pipe coming out of it? And also the footer circled in red on the RIGHT just looks weird with a like thin slab of concrete on top of it with a gap between it and the footer... Plus a weird copperish colored fin of some sort on it. What could that possible be?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1406065644.878793.thumb.jpg.2c33c0c7831b369854a97537cca494c4.jpg

Wing Coaster for sure.

Or it means the coaster will go so far into the woods, that you wont know how long it really is. Or it can mean there is a large tunnel. OR, could even mean the station is themed to a port and will have seagulls. It could mean anything, its not definitive.

I noticed the footer on the right with whatever it is on top too... not sure. The other footer looks to have a bucket on it.

As much as i was thinking winged coaster, now Im thinking not, because of how close the straightaway of footers is to the building. At this point Im not even guessing because Im just that lost lol
