Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

^^Perhaps you need to be reacquainted with the definition of "sure."

Does anyone have word of when the new construction cam will go live? Paula, feel free to chime in as you may be the only one privy to this info.

For those pictures posted on the last page, I don't think they're supports for any type of coaster. If that was the part that went into the footers, there should have been a plate with holes in it to connect the bottom of support to the bolts coming out of the footers. If it was to connect to the track, that is the weirdest connector that I've ever saw.

^ I had a hard time believing it too, but after I thought about it, it started to make sense. A park who has had two of their projects over the past 5 years not deliver, goes with arguably the most reliable coaster manufacturer in the business to design and build their first major steel coaster. Say what you want about B&M, but they always deliver a reliable ride, whether it is a forceless piece of crap or crazy intense balls out roller coaster. Even if it is B&M's first launched coaster, they have the technology available to make it their most reliable coaster to date.

^ Timberliner trains for The Voyage. Not a ride, but it was project that was ultimately a failure seeing the Gravity Group could never deliver them trains good enough to run on The Voyage during a three year period in which HW gave them every opportunity to get them running.

Provided this ends up being B&M, what are all of you thinking will be the most likely model? My order of likelihood:

Sitdown/Floorless - launch or standard lift

Wing -"featured" model at the moment

Flying - would be unique to the region

Dive - very unique

Invert - yes, please

Hyper - would be cool but footprint seems too small and clues point to inversions

Standup - haha, no

I'd love to see an invert, but I don't think it's going to happen since Banshee is so close by.

A wing rider would be a possibility. If so, I'd like to see one that pushed the envelope, just like they did with Banshee. I know B&M has the capability to do more exciting things with Wing Riders.

Anything but a stand up or a flyer. Flyers make me sick to my stomach.

To me, it has to be something the HW region hasn't seen before. That marks off invert, hyper, stand-up(if you're counting when Chang was at KK), and maybe wing rider(if you consider Dollywood to be in HW's region). I personally think that a coaster similar to Kumba (maybe launched) would be the best choice. I believe there was a pic that surfaced a few years ago, that showed Dan Koch and somebody else on the upper management team riding Cheetah Hunt at BG Tampa. It is possible that they also road Kumba and really liked the ride experience. Dan's not in charge anymore, so obviously plans could have changed. Now this is very far fetched, but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that one of Will Koch's favorite parks was BG Tampa. Don't hold me to that as I don't remember where I read that at, but maybe that could indicate that they're going with one B&M models at BG Tampa? I don't know, but I'm just throwing that out there.

^I think we'd all be pleased if the park got something with the intensity of Kumba, Montu or Sheikra.

Typing those three together really makes one appreciate BGT's lineup. Best set of B&Ms in one park by far.

Yes. A grass roots intense sit down would be great.

Ahh gotcha. I was thinking rides not projects. Makes complete sense now. You know thinking about it, those two companies have to be REALLY crazy to screw something up with HW. I know they didn't do it intentionally, but if I were working on something with HW I would make DARN sure I delivered what I promised. HW, and the Kochs in general are known in this area to be VERY easy and pleasurable to do business with. But you still gotta do what you say they are going to do. Intamin and TGG really screwed up with a company I would not want to screw up with in this industry.... HW being one of the few parks(especially privately owned) thats still growing at a pretty good clip.

Anyway I'm with you on that its prolly going to be something thats really not around in this region. Depending on who you ask, Dollywood and even Kings Island are places that people around here do talk about visiting occasionally. Although in the past I'd say 10 years I've heard WAY less talk about going to those other parks (even Kentucky Kingdom when it was open under Six Flags) and most people feel extremely lucky to have a place like Holiday World close by. I also thing because of these changes HW might be thinking about moving into some more thrill type rides. They have conditioned everyone here with the Raven, then the Legend, and now the Voyage. Plus people aren't going to those other parks mentioned nearly as much. Of course HW will always be all about families and it should be. But I could see how and why they would shift a bit more to more thrill rides. This region is ready for it now.

I know this is crazy, so please disregard...but I had a dream last night that this was going to be a launched B&M wing rider. Probably what I would like to see happen.

After trying to find pictures of footers that look similar to B&M's, I'm 90% sure HW is in fact getting a B&M, seeing I couldn't find any other manufacturer that designs their footers like that. I'm only 90% sure because I'm starting to think that this all might be HW's way of trolling us by having the manufacturer design their footers like B&M. My logic is telling me that is highly unlikely, but you never know with HW. Now the track that is showing up at the steel plant is becoming harder to figure out as it appears the red/orange track is for another dive coaster in Europe. Now the teal track appears to be for a inverted/flying coaster. There is still a bunch of unpainted track sitting around the plant. A bunch of dark blue supports have shown up and looks like they're for a transfer track. If I remember correctly, that was the first thing constructed on Banshee? That could be HW's first shipment on the 25th, but at this point, who really knows? The dark blue would go with ocean theme that has been presented throughout the journal.

You should raise your percentage of certainty because I can assure you this is not a thing.
