Diamondbacker27
Everyone is saying the current trains are wearing Voyages structure and trains, causing it to have heavy re- tracking every couple years, Do you think a RMC track makeover could work Edit- This was discussed a couple pages back. But I would love Voyage so much more if it had maybe a couple inversions and topper track.
HWFan
Indeed. We tweeted about it a while back - thanking everyone who pestered Google to update their satellite image of the park. I was going to post it on our Google+ page, too, but they might have taken it personally ... I saw that tweet, but it just linked me to Google Maps, which still had the old image. I wonder why Maps and Earth have different pictures. One interesting thing to note is that you can clearly see the Bamboo Chute and AmaZOOM where they have been relocated next door at Lake Rudolph. robbalvey
New Themed Dining and Retail Coming to Holiday World PGAV Destinations designs Wildebeestro, Safari Outpost, and Mrs. Klaus’ Kitchen Three great new attractions designed by PGAV Destinations are coming to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus, IN for the 2014 season. Matt Eckert, president of Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, chose PGAV Destinations as the concept and attraction designer based on the firm’s theme and water park experience with destinations such as SeaWorld and Universal Studios. “PGAV is in tune with the story we want to tell – they get us. We are excited to add to the magic our park has offered since we opened as the very first theme park back in 1946,” said Eckert. Mrs. Klaus’ Kitchen The popular bakery and candy shop is undergoing a magical reimaging in the Christmas hub, leveraging the warm colors and inviting nature of Germanic Christmas design themes. The new design calls for heightened visibility and fun theming appropriate for the holiday zone, including peppermint candy decorations, a massive Christmas tree made out of baked goods, and will incorporate much of the structure’s existing piping as themed “candy factory” supply tubes. The bakery includes a fun cookie bar where guests can decorate their own Christmas cookies. The design firm is delighted to tout that this serves as their first official design project for Santa Claus himself, as all letters addressed to Santa are sent to and replied from Santa Claus, Indiana. Safari Outpost Safari Outpost aims to be a fantastic new retail offering at the Splashin’ Safari water park. While guests prepare to enter the park in the large welcome plaza, they’ll be able to pick up last-minute water park needs such as swimwear, sundries, towels, activity shoes, and souvenirs at this African-themed shop with plenty of colorful animal friends! Wildebeestro A great new restaurant is coming this year to Splashin’ Safari near Wildebeest, the four-year-running #1 Water Park Ride in the world, as voted by Amusement Today magazine. Wildebeestro will be African-themed with totems and other inspired designs, and will serve wraps, seafood, salads, fruit, and other treats to nearly 800 guests an hour. PGAV Destinations looks forward to a great continuing partnership with Holiday World, as the two work together to develop an exciting 20-year master plan for America’s first theme park. About PGAV Destinations PGAV Destinations is a global leader in the planning and design of unique destinations. Now in its fifth decade, the practice has evolved to become the ideal destination-consulting partner, skilled at developing growth-oriented master plans and translating those plans into successful projects. WildStangAlex
The concept art looks great! It's nice to see theming for shops & restaurants like this at a regional, family-owned park.
Raven Maven
^ Thanks! We're really excited. The story behind the naming of Wildebeest is told here on our HoliBlog.
cfc
The planned revamped of Mrs. Klaus' Kitchen looks particularly nice--and who doesn't like Christmas cookies? Edited March 11, 2014 by cfc
Koasterking48
Very nice. Although I was hoping the resteraunt was going near Kima Bay or Hyena Falls because those two spots could use some food nearby, the Wildebeest location is great as well. Raven Maven
^ Wildebeestro is actually quite close to Kima Bay. West to east on the east side of Bahari wave pool, there's a restroom building and soft drink oasis, then Wildebeestro, a few cabanas, and then Kima Bay. HWFan
^It is accurate. It's been in the works for a while, but was just publicly announced. Lori and Matt will keep up the great work with bettering HW, and now Dan will take the great HW hospitality to a separate venture. It's as close to a win-win ending possible. I'm excited! (Dan is also planning on reopening Rampage.) This is something to be happy about.
mikeykaise
so will it be two separate parks or is this a start of a chain of parks possibly, with Lori running the one in Indiana and Dan running the one in Alabama?
Raven Maven
Where is RAVENMAVEN When you NEED Her!? LoL She was getting her hair done. Nice to know I'm needed here at TPR. Back in the office now. This isn't a Holiday World project, so it wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment, except to say we wish them a safe and successful endeavor. GayCoasterGuy
I knew Voyage was super huge, but the darn ride is bigger than the park! Longer than the distance from the front gate to the back of Splashin' Safari ... Voyage rocks

GayCoasterGuy
^Heck yeah! What Holiday World really needs is a nice family steel looping coaster. I'd suggest one of these models: One of these green models would be nice, too! Edited March 14, 2014 by GayCoasterGuy
GayCoasterGuy
^Or a combination of the 2; a world-class coaster with tunnels and a lengthy pre-lift section. PERFECT "retro" trains non-negotiable Something not too intense for everyone.

John Peck
This may be unpopular with some, but I think it would be cheaper for the park to make their first major steel coaster out of their last wood coaster. "Voyage 2: The New World" and place 2 inversions into the circuit. I wouldn't be surprised if that idea is being explored by the park.
gerstlaueringvar
^ If it's from RMC, then Voyage 2: The New World; If it's from Gravity Group, then Underworld Voyage
