Mechanic
Oh yeah, maybe I forgot to mention the most important thing about this themepark. At the topleft on the parkmap you see 'naaktstrand' mentioned. 'Naaktstrand' means 'nude beach' ..... this must be the only themepark in the world having a nude beach in the park I'll never believe that without photographic evidence. robinschroder
Such a shame you didn't get to ride the coaster - it looks so strange! RCDB says 'This is being called an "Energy Free" coaster. It will use solar power as well as power generated by cross trainers operated by waiting riders.' - how unique! Groetjes!
Groteslurf
Thanks for the comments. Sorry, no pictures from the nude beach. I don't think anyone was there either because the weather wasn't like summer should be. The park is indeed not in Belgium but in the north of the Netherlands, close to Eindhoven. The coaster must be custom designed, I didn't do my research though. But like Robin wrote, Hans explained me during our visit that it indeed a energy free coaster. That also why the exit is on the ground so that the lifthill doesn't have to pull cars with people in.
Jeroen_twee
Its an ABC coaster I believe, and it's a custom. There is a flat part between the station and first drop, to give riders the same feeling as a lifthill ('Oh no, theres the drop, hold on!') Groteslurf
Main reason for our day out was the Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg concert in Tilburg that same evening. I've always been a fan of the Ramones and since MRB is the closest one can get to the Ramones, we didn't want to miss this concert. The singer is now the ex-Misfits leadsinger Michael Graves. It was still about 4 hours before the concert started when we arrived in Tilburg so a lot of time to eat and drink. The concerthall was rather small, which turned out to be excellent because the place was really packed and sold out. Great supportact. Don't remember the band's name though Where's Marky ? There he is ! Michael Graves Pogo all evening Last pictures; Thanks Hans for the great day

Groteslurf
Last week, my kids, wife & me rented a villa in the South of France. I saw on the internet that there was actually a themepark in the same city as we stayed in but I couldn't find anything back anywhere on coaster nor themeparksites. By accident I saw a flyer of Lunapark in the supermarket, so the same evening I went to check it out. It turned out to be closed though but it didn't look like a dump so I assumed it would only be open in the evening and so it was. Lunapark website : www.lunapark-frejus.com/ It's actually only open during summer, so it's more of a funfair than a themepark I think, although it's there 3 months a year. First some pics of the villa we rented. Poolshower & toilet and bbq patio in the back My kids LOVED the swimmingpool Karate kid We also went a day to Cannes I assume this is the building where the yearly Festival of Cannes is taking place And we went for a day to St Tropez as you could have noticed on the kids' tshirts. Actually we bought those 2 'cheap' shirts to wear in the pool because the kids were sunburned the first days ok, time for Lunapark Next to Lunapark, there is a waterpark A nice selection of rides ... But since we had our own private swimmingpool, we didn't go to the waterpark Lunapark is a pay per ride 'park', so no ticketbooths at the entrance Skycoaster UFO YAY !!! There are even coasters Spinning mouse Crazy Mouse Ferris wheel Bumper boats Logflume Inflated fun Big Ben See ... 2nd credit Weird loop, weird painful Karting Wonder what this is .... It's a similutor shark !!!! Bumper cars Part II to follow.
Groteslurf
Lunapark part II Another flatride Funhouse Credit nr 3 Ghost ride Flipper Booster You could win this here. But I'm sure it would cost you a lot before you win. I decided to wrap my kids airtight Some pics from the ferris wheel The Med Fjéjus down town. The waterpark Thanks for watching Like the sign says : it was Nice !!
Groteslurf
A few weeks ago, it was time for another holiday in the Usa. I signed up for the TPR NE trip, but we arrived a few days early so we decided to rent a car and drive South to revisit KD and BGE. In fact the main reason for us doing so was I-305, which wasn't there yet during our last visit in 2008. I really hate the intercontinental flights. To comfort myself a bit, I bought a Gordon Ramsey lunch at Heathrow, where I would meet up with Hans for our flight to Newark. The food was very good, but after finishing this, the flight lunch was served and it all was a bit too much After a long travel day, the next morning at 6 am we were ready for the drive to KD. Our rental car reminded me of Pulp Fiction for some reason. Lots of space. The handling of the car after every slightest road bump was very special though. The car seemed like jumping after every bump and we had to correct the wheels after every jump. Well, we got used to it quite fast so no problem. I love to be in the USA for all the soft drinks we can't get out here. Pulp Fiction car requires a Pulp Fiction t-shirt. It was 6 am and I was already sweating. I only got used to the heat after 2 days. On the road to KD We arrived at KD shortly after opening We were going to meet up with Dennis & Werner at KD. After some texting, we found out they were already riding I-305 which came in extremely convenient because that was exactly what we also wanted to do. Passing by Volcano Looking sweet I really enjoyed riding I-305. It is sooooo fast. Even the 'grey out' over there was, euh ..., how shall I call it, well it was an experience. It is by far the most intense coaster experience I have ever had. I think the expression of the lady on front row perfectly explains what most of the gp thinks about I-305 Quick ride on FoF Since I had all other credits, I didn't re-ride this Arrow goodness Although I admit the settings are beautiful R&E wouldn't be very happy if I brought one of these on the bus I assume. Volcano was running with one train only. Although crowds were fairly light during our visit, of course there was a considerable row for Volcano because of that. Hans, Dennis & Werner It's not a good coaster, but I like it. No Togo torture for me it's a pitty the cars don't have the doors any longer It's like being in Paris. Now this is a good ride ! I didn't remember exactly which woodie at KD is the worst. I still don't remember because I didn't feel like remembering and re-riding all the wood they have. Hans, Dennis & Werner did ride and got some blue souvenirs. Sitting in the shadow, and I started to sweat even more. It must have been more than 200° that day. Some pics taken in Paris It is not only an amazing ride, it also looks so amazing. I love the fact that the top doesn't have any supports The sudden turns are so smooth True The sky wasn't looking too good, so we quickly rerode I-305 a few more times. And took some last pics of it While Dennis and Werner were going to stay till closing time, we left the park at about 6 pm and headed for Williamsburg. Just after Richmond, we ended up in a giant a$$ thunderstorm, one we've never experienced before out here. The only thing we could do on the highway, was staying close and follow the rear lights of the car in front of us. As we also didn't have too much fuel anymore, we decided to play safe and get of the highway and park somewhere and wait for hell to end, which soon happened and we enjoyed a nice evening in Williamsburg. TR of BGE coming soon. Thanks for reading.
Skycoastin Steve
Glad to see you enjoyed Kings Dominion! I think you got here right at the end of the brutal heat wave that hit most of the east coast right before the NE Trip began. KD is not a good park to visit during a heat wave! Groteslurf
^^Wow, you certainly know your hotels !!!!! I had to look it up, but that is exactly the hotel we stayed at Steve, that's right, it was just before the NE trip. And I agree, that KD is not the park to visit during a heat wave. There is almost no shade at the park. But despite the heat, we had a great day at KD EB, Robin, thanks for the compliments.

Intimidator305
I'm glad you got the chance to come back to KD and check out Intimidator 305, and then enjoyed it! Great trip report and photos!
Groteslurf
Thanks everybody. It's a bank holiday out here, so I have time for the next update : Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Crowds were rather light so we decided not to purchase their front of line pass. I liked the colored glitter things For the first time, I didn't suffer from the usual jet lag. Not sure about Hans The flight simulator. Not sure whether it was already there in 2008. We didn't ride it then in any case. This was one of the worst simulators I have ever been on. Total waste of time. I recovered from the simulator while watching some birdies. Aaaaahhhhh, that looks MUCH better I love this ride. Especially on the back row The water part is so beautiful to watch BBQ I love the long first drop on this ride I had to look twice at this pic to figure our what exactly goes on. Yay, Pepsi So there is Mountain Dew. More Alpengeist Yeah, ..... couldn't resist Noted Gotta love this Darkastle time Festhaus It was still early Not open yet unfortunately The landscaping is really beautiful The only Arrow I like Remainders of BBW One of the best B&M hypers Not sure what the guy in the middle was thinking about ... Rapids Most rapids in the USA get you rather wet .... see ? But they survived Love their expression This doesn't get you really wet though Almost there and splash Different angle Sesame street There are some great kiddie rides. And even a new credit Hey there ! We did a second lap of the park to reride the coasters I simply love the interlocking loops In a bar with this name out here, there WILL be hookers. So I have an idea where the Busch people got their inspiration. Oh yeah, this ride is called Griffon in case you didn't know I had to take a picture of this because the water is so clear. You will not find this in Western Europe. In a weird way, the Festhaus kept on attracting us. Let's eat Don't remember the name, but remember it was nice Et voila ! This concludes our own pre add on days to the TPR NE trip. Let's head back north for the TPR NE trip. Wish we drove this car
