JimmyBo
The only thing really needs to be said here is... the Pima County Fair has the most credits in one place in the entire state of Arizona...that's how freaing lame this state is. There were 5 credits (1 of them powered) at the Fair this year and no park in Arizona has more than 3 credits. If you decide to read this then you are awesome and should pat your back. There were SHARK exhibits at the Fair this year. That's right...SHARKS! Anyway, off to the pictures and the wonderful sarcastic captions by yours truely. Have fun trying to pick out the serious captions... Boo-Ya! It's the Fair! It's full of awesome carnies, fatty foods, deadly rides, and homo animals This pig was the featured swine at the Fair this year. He won first prize for fattiness Here are the champs and they sing the Queen song "Ride my bicycle" instead of "We are the champions". They were a little lost Here's the emperor from Emperor's New Groove. He looks pretty bored This is a duck and they are the delicious dark meat This is a turkey and he will be my thanksgiving dinner this year. I only bought him for $10 so I hope he survives until November Beef! It's what's for dinner! This cow was sold to Arby's...NO JOKE! Oh wow! Kids look away...it's Pig Porn! Look at those nipples! Off to see Mega Shark vs Giant Crocodile Hunter Killing Sting Ray They have a Great White! AWESOME! Where's Dave and Ice Bat to check this out Sharks just swimming and about to bust out of the tank and eat everyone watching the show All the other sharks are coming up with a plan to take over the world and destroy all humans After watching the sharks bite off the trainer's hand, it was time for us to eat No Fair is complete without an Ostrich Leg...I mean Turkey Leg Ready to tackle the beast! Cassie decided to get real food and they were so impressed with her decision that they gave her a toy Forget the toy! It's time to eat! I'm doing my best impression at the shark eating the trainer's hand off Now it's time to check out the rides and carnies in all their glory I spot some awesome rides out there! Credit! It's the Rocket Rockin Roller Rollin Coaster You will never see me get in one of these because a friend of mine nearly fell to her death on the Zipper at the Del Mar Fair when I was a kid. My only Zipper credit will be the one on my pants This beauty was an awesome beast Creep Show! Why pay money for this when all you need to do is walk around and see the carnies Star Flyer goodness. Although, I wouldn't trust it at a Fair because it still scares me silly when riding at a REAL park Credit! Crazy Coaster! Your typical spinning silly wild mousey coastey The Ferris Wheel was closed because they had a jumper the day before... SPEED! IT'S LIKE A DRUG! Credit! Everyone loves the rib breaking, bone smashing, baby maker punching, rough sex ride they get on this 8th wonder of the world Time to cool off on a hot, hellish day in Arizona Disk-O! Hey Bruno! Any one now why it's called Dodgem? Anyone? Answers will be much appreciated Techno Jump is the wannabe "Bouncey Bouncey" Ride from the TPR Spain Tour. I have yet to ride one that was as insane and as intense as the one in Parque Zaragoza. Here's the lame attempt at trying to be cool and top the "Bouncey Bouncey" Ride Freefall! At least no Zombies are trying to run up and eat your flesh...that's left up to the sharks in the tank. This guy peed his pants and the ride was closed after this shot. Some people are just so weak in the bladder Credit! "It's, like the most awesome, like, ride in, like, the entire, like, universe" Direct quote taken from rider after getting off this ride...like. It's, like, a snake or something Look at all the, like, people, like, enjoying themselves and some junk No big @$$ bruises on this slide on anyone's @$$ Time to check out the games and carnies I am in heaven! Fried EVERYTHING! Cassie got a frozen banana because she likes her arteries to not be clogged by fatty mcfatfat Time for Fried Oreos and for my heart to stop...Boo-Ya! Cassie's first ever fried anything at the Fair. She was not pleased and enjoyed her banana instead Why aren't Fried Oreos a food group? They are so good for you! Here's the infamous carosuel. Why is it infamous? Google "Pima County Fair Carosuel" and let me know what you find...seriously...I want to know! And for all those credit whores and just plain whores...here is Puff the Magic Weed Dragon He's huffing and puffing and enjoying Mary Jane Pima County Fair will be 100 next year but still younger than Jeff Johnson. (sorry Jeff, I had to) Check out this awesome train display! Model trains are cool This train display just got cooler because it has a Fair full of carnies! It even has a miniature golf course! At least Elissa isn't here screaming "Penalty!" at everyone. If you don't know what Coaster Expedition that is from then you need to start buying the Coaster Expedition DVD's because they are AMAZING! Let me just go get my sewing kit and eat it because that's a freakin cake! Bungee Jumping > Sky diving. Yes, you read that right! Feel free to comment because you are all wrong unless you agree with me Here's where all the freaks and geeks and nerds and turds live...the REAL freak show! Now go and enjoy a fried anything at your local Fair because they want your support! That is all!
larrygator
Awesome JimmyBo, I'm still leery about riding any rides at any fair.
cfc
You will never see me get in one of these because a friend of mine nearly fell to her death on the Zipper at the Del Mar Fair when I was a kid. I won't go near one of these rides, either. They always sound like they're on the verge of falling apart.
Meteornotes
Sharks at a fair?!? THIS IS AWESOME. This is one of the greatest trip reports ever, even if there were no sharks. You are a god among men. dt
kumba830
I agree with Zippers being one of the scariest fair rides out there. Took me a ton of courage to get on my first time, but I ended up loving it. My favorite fair ride no doubt. That last coaster you showed looks VERY painful!
the ghost
Zipper is the only ride in the entire world to make me feel sick. The speed ride and ARM tower are easily my favorites in the entire fair. We have the same fair in the OC(RCS) and I like the ride collection, but they havent added a new coaster forever. The speed ride is awesome, but the capacity sucks, and although the arm tower is small it packs a CRAZY punch and gives awesome airtime.
gisco
How can you have an encounter when there are no Great Whites in captivity?
oriolat
For a split second I thought you were going to say there was a cred at the fair named "Manta" which had a preshow about Sharks and Stingrays Great TR! I absolutely *love* Fabbri drop rides. Despite being only 35 meter they give a very solid ride and if the carnie is running them on manual mode, it's even better! slither37
Hey, did you have to use the "Fastpass" line? I am sure some Disney lawyers will be interested in this..... Looks like a nice fair. Great photos and TR. There is no way to eat a frozen banana that does not look obscene.
Guy T. Koepp
Awesome TR JimmyBo! I only have one question regarding the whole rib cracking thing. Was it any worse than riding a scrambler with yours truly? Guy "Peace Bro!" Koepp

Steelinwood
I can't believe how small the turn on that coaster looked. It wasn't even banked!
boweryboy
The only thing really needs to be said here is... the Pima County Fair has the most credits in one place in the entire state of Arizona...that's how freaing lame this state is... Primarily a lurker here but I had to sympathize with you. Washington State is just as lame. Wild Waves has 4 credits: a just OK woodie that could benefit from being taller, longer, and faster; a rib crushing spine rattling wild mouse; a kiddie coaster; and a decrepit Arrow coaster that is so painful it's not worth the ride (and they cycle you through twice unless you protest). The Puyallup Fair (which is only open 3 weeks out of the year) has 3, 4 if you count the rickety water ride/rollercoaster. My friends and I call it the "dirty water ride" which is self explanatory. At least the Schwarzkopf Wildcat is good for repeat rides and the Coaster Thrill Ride is fun moreso because of its history than actual "thrills". Then we have the 2 at the Space Needle Fun Forest: a kiddie and one of those compact Hurricane coasters that aren't worth the $7 to ride. I haven't been there in a while but the last I heard Fun Forest closed because the lease was up. If that's the case there goes 2 credits. It's a sorry state of affairs we have up here in the Northwest corner of the country.
JimmyBo
We did not use the Fastpass on the Cobra coaster but they actually had quite a few of those Fastpass lines throughout the fair. Guy, the rib cracking was not as bad as riding the Scrambler with you because you nearly did crack my rib (where's that video!) while the Hi-Miler you can at least brace yourself. Six Flags Enthuseast
Sharks at a fair?!? THIS IS AWESOME. The fair itself is comparable to the Puyallup Fair, but that shark tank, as well as the awesome variety of fried foods, makes it WAAAAAAYYYY better! freekeee
that fair looks so nice and clean How can you have an encounter when there are no Great Whites in captivity? I was thinking that.

zottewoef81
Great pics and report! There's a lot of crazy poo poo at this fair that we'll never see here in europe, like the sharks and other animals and the fattie food. I hope one day, I'll be able to experience the typical American fair atmosphere. I really want to try out that Zipper!
alilstronger
I LOVE the Zipper!!!! I almost fell out of one here in MD a few years back. It was the carnies not paying attention. I love that everytime you get on it, its a different ride.
boweryboy
Yes the Windstorm is in Texas now, sad because I found it to be the best of its kind strange how the same coaster in Santa Cruz sucksBummer. It was the closest coaster to my apartment, literally a 15 minute bus ride. Even though it wasn't worth the $7 to ride I would still ride it just to sate my coaster cravings. I use to live in San Jose. We would go over to Santa Cruz almost every weekend in the summer. I remember how bummed out I was when they removed the Jet Star and replaced it with the Hurricane coaster. There was no comparison between the two. And you're right. It's interesting how the same coaster could provide totally different rides. The Fun Forest one kicked butt.
ScottBrown
Yes loosing a Schwarzkopf Jet Star for any coaster is a tragedy and now that same Jet Star is rusting away in a closed park in Oregon as far as I know wish they would just bring it back and scrap Hurricane
tedten
Just wanted to mention you can get some EPIC airtime on zippers when they flip around the top. It works like a whip but you're going over a hill not around a turn so you get airtime instead of laterals. Great forces!
fatdaddy
After visiting alot of amusement parks and even seeing all the new rides they have at fairs and carnivals now, the zipper is still one of my favorites. You just can't duplicate a the hairball, out of control feeling it has. Maybe im just old but i still like the hammers and the octopuss too, oldies but goodies. Last time i was at pima county fair i got got my picture taken with tito santana after he wrestled, damn im a nerd.
