Six Flags Enthuseast
I'm gonna get a credit at Rocky & Bullwinkle's Family Fun Center in Tukwila tomorrow. It's a nice little Indoor/Outdoor combo FEC (they're very common here in Washington and Oregon). I'm sure nobody has ever seen or heard of it before, so I'll give you a little rundown: Inside, they have a pretty large arcade, a big kiddieland play structure (think McDonalds except on steriods, and the ball pit WITH the plastic balls), an indoor S&S Frog Hopper, a laser tag arena, a simulator, (NEW for this year) bumper cars, a restaurant, and a prize corner inside. Outside, there are 2 mini-golf courses, an S&S bungee trampoline, bumperboats, batting cages, a kiddie area with a carousel, a mini-train (I believe, I'm not fully sure on that one), a mini-chairswing, and picnic tables, and (IMO the best part) a 60ft S&S Screamin' Swing. This is one of the few places 'Where Robb & Elissa AND KidTums could all have equal amounts of fun' (that is, if they're up to go carts, mini golf, some arcade games, laser tag, and a few S&S rides, KT will be up to the Frog Hopper for sure)! It also neighbors a Hampton Inn, so you can stay a night there (and possibly get special offers for R&B's FFC). If you want to find out more about this awesome little FEC, you can check out their website, their Facebook page, their Twitter page, or their YouTube page. I'll post the photos of my visit shortly after I get back. Edited April 11, 2010 by Six Flags Enthuseast
linearinduction
...I'm sure nobody has ever seen or heard of it before...I would hope Montezuma has heard of the Family Fun Center and Bullwinkle's Restaurants in Tukwila, WA, and Wilsonville, OR, considering him and his Family Built and own them, along with Cowabunga Bay Water Park in Draper, UT. - Sid Cowabunga Bay Water Park Parking Lot Supervisor

Six Flags Enthuseast
^^Wow, I've can't believe that somebody has actually heard of the R&B FFCs! Is Cowabunga Bay a nice waterpark? Is it a fun pla...(ponders the Montezuma thing)... WHHHHAAAAAATTTTT?!?!? (Chris style when he figured out he could marry that hot South-American chick) ^Yup, I'll probably be able to give at least my report on it tonight. Em-Z
I had no idea this place existed. I can't believe there's a Screamin' Swing so close to me! Looking forward to pictures!
Six Flags Enthuseast
^You should definitely check it out, it's now my #1 Screamin' Swing (even over Skyhawk)! It was excellent fun today! I managed to get 3 rides on Screamin' Swing, 1 on the bungee trampoline, 1 play at laser tag, and 1 ride on the go carts. I will post the pictures tomorrow. Six Flags Enthuseast
Finally, here are the photos. Yes, this deer is friendly enough to pet! (We always feed her and her friends before we leave our house) 'Somebody's gonna feed me, right? RIGHT?????' Hey, look! The mail guy has stopped by! Yesss!! My maps and postcards have finally arrived! Remember that Puyallup Fair trip report I did? Remember all the fog? This is what that fog was covering up! Hi ASIMO! I hate having to pay for this new bridge... ...but it's certainly a pretty bridge! Attempting to take advantage of it to increase my artsiness... Again... Something's different here..... Everything looks normal here... HERE'S where it's different! Comparing to the last shot I saw of repainting, they've added paint to some of the lift hill and the chain-return, the corkscrews, and the brake run. I wonder what's coming next! The exit you need to take if you're coming from Tacoma. But before we hit the Fun Center, we stop at Claim Jumpers. This is the awesomeness-on-a-plate that I had for dessert, the Heath-Bar chocolate chip cookie with extra chocolate chips, caramel sauce and chocolate sauce ontop! Requires a gallon of milk to consume in order to prevent over-dialation of the eyes and over-stimulation of the tastebuds. Here we are! The S&S Bungee Trampolines, misleadingly named Sling Shot. Probably the most exiting attraction at the Center (and up there in the whole state, I kid you not), an S&S Screamin' Swing. The structure of the Screamin' Swing tower. The very clean pathway, along with the bumperboats and the mini-golf courses. Hmmm....... Here's what you see when you walk in! They have a gumball machine that dispences bouncy balls! The brand-new bumper cars they added, as well as the X D Theater. Swipe shot! Yes, they even have an indoor Frog Hopper! (KidTums-friendly credit #1) The awesome, huge kiddieland playset! The most hardcore one around! (KidTums-friendly credit #2) It's everybody's favorite Cold War-era cartoon characters! NOTED! Shall I eat or obtain cheap, plastic prizes? Let's see.... mini-carousel, mini-chairswing, mini-train, mini-planes... This place screams KidTums! Mom and dad were playing with their newly-aquired bouncy balls. This bounce went stratospheric! Us getting ready to ride Screamin' Swing. At this point we begin hearing the pneumatic swing-system warming up. Wheeeee!!! Dad sorta liked it.... ...but I liked it so much I decided to ride again, this time on the other side! Wheeee! Once again, I love it! But it has the traditional problem that every Screamin' Swing has: it's way to short to be good, and it ends right as it's beginning to get really good. "This is the only time I'm getting to speak in today's update!" Yup, another S&S ride. They actually played some pretty decent music outside. Not much of a fence to climb..... Typical theme park-style slow carts. Actually, the track was amazing! And the yardwork and themeing were excellent for a go-cart track. But it was the fact that it took 5 seconds for the carts to go down this extremely short straightaway that brought the ride down. We got into a discussion on what to do... Dad and I eventually decided to ride. (look at dad's 'Oh crap!' expression, he must've gotten pretty close to hitting somebody or something!) Both dad.... ...and I took the go-cart racing pretty seriously! We're a NASCAR family, so it's just us to take racing seriously, even if the carts suck. One side-effect of these crappy, gas powered carts is that you get a lot of exhaust in your eyes, which caused me to squint for a little while. S&S Frog Hopper action-shot! Me am too talls to rides. The entrance to, quite simply, the coolest kiddie playset in the state.... maybe even the West Coast! This is a pretty cool game thingy. They had one of those crappy Cedar Point Blue Streak/Gemini simulators. And then they had one of those 'design-it-and-ride-it' simulators, although they already gave you a preset design to ride to. Hmmm..... Hey, wait... Remove all clothing?!?!? Dad staring down at us from up there. Nerdy electrical-outlet shot from where dad was just standing! Looking down the scaffolding, we see this curious little orange thing. Orange gumball? Orange bouncy ball? Orange Cheeto Puff Ball? Ahh... I remember those things like it was only yesterday. Those were awesome! Stop playing that game, Beach Head! (that's actually the name of the game!) From up here, you can see the vast expanse of the arcade and play area. The video for the laser tag was VERY 90's! They even included advertising for the Center in it! Hmm.... So Bill Gates and his homeys were visiting today? Yes, it is true.... You can actually rent skyboxes here! For birthdays, corperate meetings, TPR parties, etc.! It wasn't this cool, it was just those same pylons with some blacklights and some fog. Hi Elissa! Looking at the graphics for this game, you realize how much we've progressed since 1994! The 'play until you win' game.... ....with all Tootsie Company candy! Interesting.... Very interesting.... (I'm green #5) Reviewing my score, I did the best on the team! But Red #2 kicked some serious a$$! Me with R&B. Mom with Bullwinkle. And finally, Bullwinkle holding Lucario! Double S&S shot. "Whoa.... that's a lot more than I expected!" I decided to bounce around a little while waiting for my harness to be put on. I'm kneeling on thin air, sucka! Right now, I'm in more of a 'Vertigo at CP when it's beginning to flip.... damn, I wish that ride was still there!' pose than a 'Bounching on a trampoline.... yay, sorta' pose. I did manage to get a few flips.... But they all took a serious toll on my future grandchildren.... These girls were pretty freaked out by how nerdy I was. Z00M! Just by looking at this photo I can go into a detailed explanation on how this ride works! Want an explanation? PM me, and get ready for excessive nerdiness! This shot shows you just how long the Screamin' Swing arm really is. There's only a couple of inches of clearance. Control panel nerdiness ahoy! Wheeee!!! You can tell I sorta like this ride, right? Sigh... I wish it didn't cost $5.50 to ride this thing. I've hit the limit, photos will continue on the next post. Six Flags Enthuseast
Final photos. It's got Pepsi, it's got Sierra Mist... But it lacks Vault on tap, so it's a FAIL for Robb. Please open it REALLLY quick, I gotta go REALLY bad! See 'ya later, pneumatic Air Launched S&S Screamin' Swing! I'll be back to make out with your supports. On the way back from a friends house today, we noticed this little traveling carnival in the parking lot of Quilceda Creek Casino. It looked tempting... ...but we already spent all of our money on the Fun Center. Driving back through Seattle. The Space Needle. But you knew that already. 3 random radio towers. Within seconds, the sky got orange, so I decided to get another shot of the Needle. (Note the plane to the right of the Needle) Lots of buildings. Tallest building in Seattle? Nope. Mount Rainer looming in the sky near Boeing Field shall end the update. Thank's for reading!
atem122
Cool trip report. That place looks much better than the typical fun center. The brand-new bumper cars they added, as well as the I like small boys in tights. Theater. I love this site's word filter. It makes my wildest dreams come true! the ghost
Does anyone else remember an old Rocky and Bullwinkles in California? I swear I have been to one before, and it had a kiddie coaster, a swinging ship and a ferris wheel. This threads title lead to the days biggest dissapointment, excitedly remembering the old so cal R&Bs and logging onto coaster fanatics and finding the coasters not on their list so I cant add it to my credit list. That was a good TR though, nice work. Also, nice work to Shane if he owns this place, it looks like a blast for a small family center, Ive still never ridden a Screamin Swing. I am REALLY hoping a lot of FEC's get the mini Frisbees and mini Top Spins that were at IAPPA, those looked crazy, and Robb got flipped upside down about 90 times. Those seem like good investments though and they are very small. Also, that coaster concept thats not really a coaster at MOA would be a good edition to a lot of FECs IMO. Anyway, good detailed TR. Six Flags Enthuseast
^^I know, every time I put XD (let's see it happen again) it says I like small boys in tights., and I hate it! ^Thank you. Actually, those do sound like pretty interesting investments. This park is pretty tight for space, though.
linearinduction
Dude, thanks for rubbing it in that Cowabunga Bay is the only Park in the Company that does not have Pepsi! lol However, we do have Vault, unless I convince someone to switch it to Cherry Coke. - Sid

printersdevil78
That was pretty cool. I've heard about the Rocky and Bullwinkle fun centers, but I'd never seen pictures of one. Didn't they used to have a R&B Audio-Animatronic stage show, similar to the ones at Chuck E. Cheese only more copyrighted? I thought I read about them at one point. Seattle's one of the few major American cities still on my list of places I'd like to see. Hopefully I can cross it off my list soon.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^I'm not sure if the one here had an animatronics show or not. I'm pretty sure the one in Willsonville, Oregon has that. Seattle's definitely worth a trip to visit, there's a lot to do in it. Along with that, there's good whale-watching in the San Juan Islands, Wild Waves (and of course this little place), hiking, mountain climbing, skiing, local sights, and more! You should make sure to check it all out if you come here.

the ghost
Lol, it seems like Cowabunga is the only water park to serve coke. I work at Wildrivers and people literally get so amped on Mtn Dew cause I am a cashier and we have 25 cent refills with employee cups. I kind of wish we had coke products though, Mtn Dew is the only Pepsi drink I really enjoy.

Six Flags Enthuseast
^It is a pretty nice place to have fun. It's got a nice variety of attractions (for an FEC) and is only moderately expensive. A lot of FECs are rip-offs, but this place isn't really that expensive, especially if you only do an attraction once or twice.

Melonballer
What is this? A local trip report? Amazing. Thanks for posting it. I love the new bridge. Before it was there, it would sometimes take a hour or more to cross. Now it is a breeze.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^It is. R&B's FFC is actually less than 1 hour away from my house (when south-Seattle traffic isn't bad). Thank you. I personally don't remember the original bridge taking more than an hour to cross when traffic was bad. But I certainly agree that the new bridge makes things much more effecient. Now to just wait for the tolls to drop a little. $4.00 every crossing adds up over time.
