Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Coming to SFGA tomorrow and monday! Im kinda worried about monday weather thought. We are driving from Canada (9 hours drive).second time visiting the park, last time 2 years ago but we didn't hit the park like we wanted.

Annual trip with my work buddy, we then go up un Tuesday to SFNE to mainly do wicked cyclone and bizarro which are amazing.

Plan B: go on monday to Hershey park if weather is better but we dont have our pass there so it would be some extra $

Hi I know this is for the park but I was wondering if anybody can direct me to a site for information on the Hurricane Harbor? I am taking my special needs daughter, just the two of us in July and I have not been to that water park. We always go to the main park as it has some of the best coasters I have ridden.

I am looking for any tips or suggestions?

Thanks you so much

At SFNE try Mind Eraser. The new trains that they added this year have vastly improved the ride. No more head banging. I also think their Joker is better than GA's version. Ride the green side.

Hershey and Jackson both look like there will storms Monday. Tomorrow should be beautiful.

The magic seats are the second-to-last row of El Toro, the last row of Skull Mountain (seriously worth trying), and the front row of Kingda Ka (though this could be quite a wait on a weekend).

Good thing you said about mind eraser because I didn't like it much 2 years back!

We were also planning doing the joker at NE since there is less coasters to do there

Our initial plan was late sunday - monday - Tuesday, but we decided to come for the opening on sunday in case we can't ride monday. But oh boy it is goong to be ghost town on monday of we can ride!

Depending on our sunday at GA and the monday weather we will device on the park sunday night

But extra $ and drive to hersheypark! We have our six flags passes

You will have an amazing day at Great Adventure if there's enough rain Monday to keep people away but not so much that they have to close most of the rides for most of the day. I was there on a day like that last month. I was riding El Toro 4 times in a row without leaving the station. I got a reride on Kingda Ka, even.

You'll have to decide if it's worth it to buy the Hersheypark ticket. If you get a lot of riding done tomorrow, I suggest that you consider it. Hersheypark has some amazing coasters, including one that does something that no other coaster in the world does. Storm Runner and Fahrenheit are cool, too, and a lot of people like Lightning Racer.

WHAT a day.

Arrived on site at 9h30 so ready for the entrance at 10h30

Starts off sick with 5 re-rides on El Toro, followed by:

Nitro front & back

Skull Mountain back row

Bizzaro

King da ka front (hour wait)

Green Lantern

Bizarro

2x El toro (30 minutes wait)

King da ka front (90 minutes wait)

Superman

And the finale...

6 rides in 20 minutes of El Toro including the 4 last without leaving our seat

That was an epic day, unexpected for a Sunday!! Total 22 rides

All walk-ons except King da ka and El toro in the after noon

Disapointed Drop of doom was closed all day tought

Thanks for the tips, really enjoyed the day. Heading for SFNE tomorrow in crappy weather but with free entries!

Great Adventure History has some new photos of the Justice League construction.

This is really impressive looking. See the rest here.

Given the queue location I expect this to be ridiculously popular during Holiday in the Park when the Christmas show dumps. Aside from that, it's pretty out of the way so hopefully once the initial hype dies down the lines won't be too bad the rest of the year.

I feel they've really done a good job with the general cleanup of the buildings over there. I'm really digging the new paint on all of the buildings, all the way down to the Blue Parrot bathroom. I've a feeling this all represents step one towards rehabbing the former Old Country section (either next year or soon after) and reopening that pathway full time.

I love how the only covered part of the queue are the TVs I guess it's smart business to keep guests hot so they'll buy more soft drinks

I thought the same thing but I figured I'd wait and see if they add shade canopies since it's still a work in progress.

It's still under construction, plus it seems like the building casts a decent shadow and this is sort of an overflow queue for the indoor queue anyway. Plenty of queue lines at this park and others are in the sun. Let's not lose our sh*t quite yet. It's kind of funny but not really the end of the world.

Ahem.

I was just thinking about that the other day. This area of the park is usually dead. The theater is always dead, and the stunt area is always dead.

Except during Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park.

Putting another indoor ride there is genius because those are great for all weather.

I think Six Flags needs to add two more attractions to this area

-An all-weather water ride. AKA, your Disney boat ride. You know the type, Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, and just opening last week, the Avatar boat trip. Add some water spray during the hot months, use fire stuff in the cold months.

-A high quality enclosed restaurant. Well, high quality by six flags standards. Again, an all-year area. in the summer, A/C, in the winter, fire places.Top it off by placing an adults retreat on the second floor overlooking the area. Im thinking ski-lodge type place. Half indoor, half outdoor. Bar, couches, fire-pits for winter, misters for summer. It amazes me every time I go skiing that the lodges are packed with people who drove hours just to drink and lounge.

Im thinking the second floor would have an outdoor area like this, but overlooking the plaza rather than the mountains.

Summer:

Winter:

And then once Six Flags doesn't know what to do with all the money that came in, they can spend it on an indoor roller coaster in that area as well. Not like Skull Mountain, but more like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

And screw it, throw in a 4d theater film attraction, simulator, vr whatever thing. Something in a theater with A/C and heat. I loved this thing when it existed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sounds_Dangerous!

Cheap too.

The park has a dark ride coming in a matter of weeks not to mention two indoor coasters, and a(n indoor) Vekoma madhouse. I think we're good on indoor rides for the time being. And we have two water rides that are incredibly popular on warm/hot days so I'd say we're good there too (I know Bill will disagree with this since we all know there is no such thing as too many flumes). But yeah no. We already had a second flume, and Movietown Water Effect. They got rid of them.

If I had to predict, I think more Hurricane Harbor additions are coming next since it seems people are always bitching about how packed it is so we could certainly use some high capacity slides. Or maybe a water coaster? Either way I would not be surprised in the slightest if 2018 was a waterpark year.

The dry park just seems like its pretty well rounded right now. Great well-rounded coaster lineup, good collection of crappy-to-awesome flats, a new dark ride coming, SORA.

Not to say I don't think a further expansion of Movietown into the remainder of the former Old Country area in the future now with Justice League where its at, but I'm not sure we'll see it right away. If when they do expand they don't put one of these in

I'll walk my fat ass up to Jackson and flip the entire dang park into the lake with my bare hands.

WHAT THE F IS WRONG WITH YOU SIX FLAGS.

You are a summer park. It is hot in the summer.

SHADE.

I disagree, it looks like those screens are going to have plenty of shade with those nice parasols.

I feel like those Giant Discoveries will be dished out in similar fashion to the Skyscreamers
