Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I've ridden one half of Lightnin' Loops, and I don't think Great Adventure is missing much. It was one of those that I wanted to ride because it was so different from anything I'd ridden before, but it was awful. Replacing it with a boomerang would be an upgrade.

I realize I'm a few pages too late but to add T Express was closed for annual winter maintenance and nothing to do with whatever is going on with Collosos. It and the water rides close every year for around 2 months and they get the annual maintenance done then because the temperature is so cold that it isn't allowed to open most days anyway. The English website always sucks at updating but Samsung have bigger issues than updating a page i'm sure. If you look at the Korean site they are advertising the reopening.

^ @Garet thank you for that! The insufferable whiners over @ the GAdv Connoisseurs FB group were just going on about how T Express was having problems and how it was tied to Colossus and insinuating the other prefabs would have issues too, with no source to back any of these claims up (of course). Good to hear it from a local its running like usual.

Also, 10 days y'all!

Well this is pretty cool. Via the parks snapchat (gradventure), looks like they are installing an entirely new pathway.

When was the last time GAdv had shows in the Showcase Theater? (you'd think during the summer, they'd have shows there so people can dip inside and get out of the heat)

HITP. Also pretty sure the "Slash" show was in there during Fright Fest.

New path? I assume it's not that super convenient one that used to connect Kingda Ka and El Toro?

I still don't understand why that path is not opened up!

Its simple really. There is nothing for you to buy along that path. Sure, they could add a few booths/kiosks but why bother when they can make you walk through the boardwalk with its endless plethora of mediocre food and crappy games? This is likely the same reason they aren't opening the Old Country path when JLBFM opens - they'll send us around through Movietown since there is stuff to buy there.

When stuff Six Flags does doesn't make sense, just follow the money.

And in regard to that path - if Safari Discoveries is open (it usually is during the day) use that to cut between PDC/Golden Kingdom. You get to look at some fun animals on the way.

I understand the logic, I just feel like they really wouldn't lose much money, if any at all, by opening the path. Most people that frequent theme parks don't usually (I stress the word usually) make impulse purchases. I know I'm not a theme park expert. But I do feel I'm right. Either way, SF isn't going to listen to little old me lol!

That's a pretty general statement that in my experience is far from reality. I've found that when I take non-enthusiast folk to the park (often, since I don't drive) they are much more likely to stop and want to buy something, or at the very least browse since they don't go so often, compared to me who wanders around the park from ride to bar to ride, mostly oblivious to the parks attempts to sell me things - I rarely go looking in retail stores (except Coasters and Candy - I pass it coming/going to the Bull, and I always check for new magnets) and Ive even gotten pretty good about completely tuning out the incessant advertising everywhere you turn that everyone seems to complain about.
