MitchCaltabiano
guys dont forget that the Musik Express was also demolished last year. The park wouldnt demolish two iconic buildings/attractions within a few years for nothing. Especially this early. Im sure that a coaster, or at least an attraction is definitley coming, along with a refurbishment of Old Country with maybe a new name/theme to the area. Password121
According to 100% reputable sources over at GAH, the station was demolished over a month ago and the pictures are only surfacing now. It sounds like this had to do with simply removing a building that wasn't in use and very well could have nothing to do with a new attraction in 2017. Why would they lay gravel if they're just going to level the plot for footers?

It sounds like this had to do with simply removing a building that wasn't in use and very well could have nothing to do with a new attraction in 2017. Why would they lay gravel if they're just going to level the plot for footers? Are we sure the entire plot of land was filled with gravel? And it could just be temporary to keep things tidy for the first half of the season before they start construction. The telling sign that SOMETHING is coming is they wouldn't tear down the building after nearly a decade for no reason. It isn't cheap to demolish a building of that size, plus cleanup, so I don't feel they would make that investment after 10 years unless they had plans to refurbish that area. Sure, it doesn't mean a major coaster will take its place, but it is a telling sign they do have plans for Old Country in the next year or two. Context clues lead to the conclusion of a coaster, but of course it is way too early for any certainty, and plans can also change many times between now and the 2017 announcement in August/September. MitchCaltabiano
Wasn't the Chiller station used for a Fright Fest maze? well yeah technically. The queue was used as the queue for 'Asylum'. People are suggesting that the maze will either just not return in 2016 or its just gonna move its location. I would prefer it to just be removed as it was nothing fantastic to be honest
michaellynn4
The walls for Asylum were removed several weeks ago. A photo was posted several pages back, around the beginning of January. And you're right, it wasn't anything special. Definitely one of the weaker mazes.
dorneyfan93
Everyone needs to stop saying it isnt cheap to just remove a building for no reason. Think for a minute, if the crews that took down the grandstands and ft. independence were there already then you can work a deal to do a third building cheaper. its standard business practice to work deals. Excellent point, and to add to this everything a park does has to stay in budget and that's why parks have five year and ten year plans, so they can capitalize on cost efficiencies when they occur. What harm was there in keeping he station standing in an area where less than 5% of the park's guests would walk past it on any given day. I'm unclear how the gravel points directly to a new coaster in 2017. Why should the park spend the extra money to sod the area with grass if the area will continue to not be seen by most guests. Or possibly the gravel is being used now because a new coaster is coming in the future, but not necessarily 2017. The park doesn't need a coaster right now, but Justice League (in the simulator building) will be a big help if HITP continues Edited February 15, 2016 by larrygator

PixelRush
Thank you to michaellynn4 for posting this picture on TPR today (originally posted on GA Roundtable FB page) So let the speculation begin on whose getting a T-Rex! What is this a picture of? Location? Any actual info? This is the past site of Batman and Robin: The Chiller's station (which has just been 100% demolished), and the land seems to be in good shape, and so people are speculating a RMC steel coaster to go in the space. The queue is still in good condition (clearly), so there's a lot to work with!

coasterbill
Definitely looking likely we are getting the first all-steel RMC. That's a hell of a leap to make just because they demolished a mostly unused coaster station while they already had a crew in the park demolishing other unused and useless buildings. Generational
"Maintenance just trimmed a hedge, looks like a new flat is coming our way!" But in all seriousness, I wouldn't be able to fancy a guess as to where the first T-Rex would go. Sure, potentially SFGAdv could get one, but it has an equal chance with every other popular park in the world. I wouldn't hold my breath.
DoinItForTheFame
^ If anything I see SFGAdv as less likely to receive one, but that's just going off the fact they are currently getting a new coaster. I feel like it would most likely go to a park who hasn't received a new coaster in a few years.

MitchCaltabiano
Although a coaster would be fantastic! I can wait till 2018 to get one, especially if its a T-Rex. The Justice League dark ride would fill many of the parks needs (dark ride, indoor ride for all types of park guests, plus everyone loves shooting dark rides, especially 3D ones!!). Whether its in Old Country or the Boardwalk, or even none of the two. And if its not a coaster or dark ride, im sure whatever we are getting in 2017 will make the park much better than it already is. For now, can we just wait till The Joker opens and then progress with some serious talk about a 2017 Coaster?

When has SF ever spent money to demo something in one of their parks just for the hell of it? Like um never!!! The RMC concept was shown in a SFGADv survey, RMC started the concept has be bought, RMC comes out with new coaster type and two parks SFGADv/SFMM starts quietly deconstruction of building that's been sitting around for years unused my bad if people around here can't add things up that's obvious
Generational
The thing is, is that it isn't as obvious as you think it might be. You said that it was shown in a SFGADv survey, but then go on to say that SFGADv AND SFMM start clearing out unused buildings. Where did SFMM come into this? Does that mean it is also getting one, or would it be more reasonable to think that perhaps they are clearing those lots for different projects. For all we know, you may be right, but it is far too early to start speculating what park might get one.

Sources at GAH (again, very reliable) say they had to pay small electric fees to keep the building standing each year, so they were paying to keep a structure up for almost a decade that was used sparingly during Fright Fest. They might actually be saving money by tearing it down.
