Genx24
I agree with Boldikus. The presence of El Toro makes me think that GAdv will not be getting an RMC. I believe 2016 will bring the Justice League ride to the park.
Password121
Gadv is an intriguing case concerning 2016. I think it is almost a given that 2016 will be the park's big year in terms of capital. Beyond that, there have been so few credible rumors going around that it's very difficult to speculate what this investment may be. Since Green Lantern was the last coaster addition back in 2011 (5 years is a good amount of time for one of the largest SF parks), I think a coaster is the most likely option. As boldikus mentioned, with El Toro on hand as a stand out, extreme wooden coaster, an RMC ground up coaster may seem a little repetitive, if not counter intuitive. That's not to rule it out, IMO (see Carowinds/Canada's Wonderland- two B&M hypers), but it isn't an obvious choice in the least. The other possibilities as of this point would seem to be a B&M wing coaster or a custom/Batman clone S&S Free Fly. On one hand, this park hosts almost 3 million, and needs the capacity of the B&M. On the other, this park already has four B&M looping coasters- Gadv's only inversions are B&M. A Free Fly might be a welcome change. If 2016 is not a coaster year, Justice League is almost a no-brainer. I'd imagine a coaster in 2017/18, depending on the scale of that coaster. Honestly I'd be ecstatic with any of these additions. The park has done a great job beefing up the family/thrill ride collection since Green Lantern, but it's a good time for something major from this park. They've been fairly quiet in the coaster department since El Toro.
rcdude
Of all the Six Flags parks, Great Adventure is the one park where a RMC doesn't necessarily seem like the best choice. With El Toro in the park, it would probably be better to invest in a GCI or similar if the park wants another wooden coaster. However, after this year Great Adventure will be the biggest Six Flags park without a RMC, and given that Six Flags has been very happy with the company so far I wouldn't be surprised to see one appear as the park's next major coaster. 2016 seems like a likely year for a new coaster, as it will be five years since the last one, and there is still at least one 2016 RMC unaccounted for, so it is definitely possible. I also agree with everyone else that if 2016 does not bring a coaster it will most likely bring a Justice League clone, assuming the ride is successful. I think an RMC is most likely always going to be a better choice than a GCI, even though I like many of the latter company's coasters. Password121
^On top of that, SF hasn't done business with GCI for a few years. When was the last time a Six Flags park built a family coaster, anyways? I'm curious (by "family" coaster I mean non-kiddie coasters, and not simply a coaster with a 48" restriction. A standard GCI is much more of a "family" coaster than any RMC, B&M looper, etc.).

I would think that a park would benefit more from an RMC than a GCI. I haven't been on an RMC (just a few more months...) but they seem to be building more intense, smoother, marketable, and they costs less to maintain (I think) than a GCI. I'm a HUGE fan of GCI, and I think the more GCI coasters the better, it's just that I think an RMC is a better option. However, if they wanted an inverting wooden coaster, which seems to be a trend with RMC, I would love to see GCI enter the inverting wooden coaster race. I've heard that they designed the Millennium Flyers to do inversions.
Password121
^As much as I love competition, at this point I don't trust Six Flags to maintain any new traditional wooden coasters (topper track and Intamin pre-fabs being non-traditional). I've heard Apocalypse at Magic Mountain is still running decently well, but as for fast, extreme wooden coasters (especially with inversions at play), I'd be much more confident sticking with topper track and prefabs. Yeah, I was thinking this as well, I haven't heard very many good things about Six Flag's "traditional" wooden roller coasters. Especially is this "traditional" wooden coaster has inversions, then I'm worried that after a few years it might turn into a Hades 360. Gwazi, haven't ridden it but I think I've heard it got REALLY rough, proved that if you don't maintain a GCI well, it shows. I'm perfectly OK with them sticking with RMC and Intamin for their extreme wooden coasters, but I don't want them to turn their back on GCI forever (don't think I'll have to worry about that, though). JaYmoNeY12 12
What I don't like about the RMC coasters, is that they are very short. Since we all know they are not going to give El Toro any treatment, they would give us a ride that is exactly like Goliath at Six Flags Great America. Although Goliath is a great ride, it is one of the shortest rides ever. I felt like it was over in 20 seconds after waiting 2 hours. I rather have a nice GCI woodie. Apocalypse at Magic Mountain is still smooth after a couple years now, so Six Flags must be taking care of it.
Password121
Goliath is the first ground up RMC coaster Six Flags built. They chose a site that limited the space, and wanted a record breaking ride. There was an Alan Schilke interview recently, and he said that with larger rides, there are fewer elements. Six Flags wanted "Tallest, Fastest, Steepest," and that's what they got. With all that height and speed, the elements are very large, and therefore there are fewer. It wasn't RMC that decided "let's make a 3000 foot long coaster that breaks records," it was Six Flags. Gadv isn't as limited on space as Great America (or might not choose a TINY plot for such a coaster), so it really isn't fair to say RMC builds short coasters. GCI's aren't much longer than Goliath, but they aren't nearly as tall/fast, so they have more elements. That's just how it works. When you get down to it, ANY RMC coaster is more appealing to the general crowd Six Flags appeals to. Yes, they have El Toro, but that was 10 years ago. It's records are long gone, the hype is over (granted, still my favorite overall coaster). If Six Flags has $10 million to spend, they're going to choose the RMC eight days a week. I didn't even get a full ride on Apocalypse (my train valleyed!) but the little bit of the ride I did experience kicked the crap out of me. thecoasterwhisperer
2016 is going to shock most of you (from what the dippin dots guy told me anyway). There's an element that's new to America and almost everyone thought was impossible at this park. The photo ops will be breathtaking for sure. Apocalypse is far from smooth. Just ask the people in the SFMM thread! (Personally, I don't think it's as bad as some people say, but it's definitely not a smooth coaster!) Generational
I still can't believe they're adding a god damn carney ride to SFGAdv. I rode one of those at Coney Island. I rode one of those at the local god damn fair. Disappointed. Still want to make the trek back to Jersey for my beloved El Toro though.
vacoaster09
I am just going to throw this in there.... Based on the hint... I don't think I am seeing Aquatrax here, Instead I am learning towards A Vekoma Tilt Coaster... why, because who in their mind would think a Vekoma would come to SFGADV, and the tilt coaster would be first of its kind in the US and this would also be photo op central!
