yankeeman311
Little trip report from today. This was my second visit of the year and me and my friend got to the park at about 2:30. Didn't know this til later but there was a Jewish concert at the park today that probably increased crowds. Since El Toro had a 2 hour wait, we decided to start with Bizarro. It was about a 20 minute wait and I actually had my best ride in a while on it. BIG shoutout to the Bizarro crew today. They were absolutely flying. I've never seen them go so fast and they actually were only single stacking for once. I don't know what they changed today but whatever it was keep it up. We then got our ride on RMT before taking the Skyride to the other side. We went on Dark Knight and I noticed a few things weren't turned on for the ride. This is still by far the best themed coaster in the park though. Next was a 50 minute wait for Nitro where we saw the departure of Nitro Weave. I also noticed a ridiculous amount of rattling today compared to Saturday on the ride. I feel like I was on Train C today though admittedly I didn't pay attention. We finished off the day with a backseat ride on Toro. I have to say this is the best I've seen this ride run in April lately. I feel like it's in summer mode. Overall pretty nice day at the park despite only 7 rides. Sorry but I have no pictures.
Generational
^ Good report, glad to see everything is shaping up. What worries me sometimes about coasters that feel like they are in summer mode early season is that there is a chance that that pace could burn out, but hopefully that isn't the case. Holy crap, that had to mean that it was either running only one train or the queue was outside the entrance. Hopefully it won't be this bad for me today. gerstlaueringvar
I don't see the need of a wing coaster. When they get smooth, they are boring; when they get intense, they are bouncy. Or if you are unlucky, both boring and bouncy! There are plenty of great choices in the market. Premier launch coaster, Mack launch coaster, Gerstlauer Euro Fighter with longer trains, RMC woodie, Change Hyper GTX, Maurer X-Train, etc. They can have very high capacity just like B&M wing coasters if not located at SFMM. KBrylczyk
I don't see the need of a wing coaster. When they get smooth, they are boring; when they get intense, they are bouncy. Or you get lucky and end up with Raptor. I love that ride and was really surprised by it. However that's mostly from the themeing they invested on it. If you took away the scenery, the lake, the fog, and the GUARDS SHOOTING AT YOU CAUSING WATER GEYSERS TO ERUPT IN YOUR FACE, it wouldn't be nearly as memorable. But this is Six Flags. What's themeing?
rcjp
^^I think that, if wing coasters were any good, one would be a nice addition as it would be a relatively different experience from what they have (still, a 4d coaster would be more different). The problem is, so far, (like you said) either they're pretty boring or bouncy (or both!). If B&M could come up with a more intense layout (like furius baco) but without any shakiness issues, we wouldn't have any problem with that, I guess. gerstlaueringvar
Six Flags needs all kinds of gimmicks. I think they can hire S&S to break FujiQ's record unless the air tank explode again

Nitro1118
Personally, I'd like to see a complete Movietown renovation. It's been very sad watching what was once the park's hotspot be neglected, gutted and essentially left to rot over the last decade. Since the addition of Nitro, the Boardwalk added 2 major B&M's, the GK was added and given a record breaking Intamin, the park's 2 worst coasters were removed and basically replaced with arguably the world's best coaster (along with rebranding the area with some of the better theming in the chain), and even Medusa was refurbished and FA added a completely unique safari attraction. In other words, it's time to give the East side of the park some love. Looking at plans I've seen most enthusiasts, most people seem to simply fill Chiller's vacant spot with a wingrider and opening up the old path that used to lead directly to Chiller's station. This isn't necessarily a bad plan, but I do think it's a little narrow-minded if a coaster is to be the centerpiece of a Movietown revival. Realistically they could completely dig up that old path and make use of that, the Freefall spot, and possibly even cut into the employee parking lot (I'm not opposed to knocking down one of the theaters either). Not saying this is the route to take, but the point is there is great opportunity for that area simply than simply by filling Chiller's spot with a coaster. As for type of coaster...a Mack or Intamin, Maverick/helix style coaster would fit the lineup perfectly and could make awesome use of that space. A GCI twister would give the lineup much better balance, and at least it wouldn't be right on top/under Toro. Of course an RMC creation would be an enthusiast's wet dream and would give a park which had one of the country's worst wooden collections 10 years ago arguably the best wooden lineup in the entire world. Equally as important as the coaster is repainting Nitro, adding a flat or 2, retheming the area (the whole Movietown theme once was executed well, but under current management I think they'd have better luck with a DC Universe angle), and adding new shows to one of the theaters along with major refurbishments. Turning Batman backwards could also be an easy solution to bringing attention back to the area. If SF decides to use the old RT spot instead, then IMO the only addition that makes sense is a Mack/Intamin launcher like Maverick that runs parallell to KK and maybe hops over to that empty area behind GL like a poster a few pages back suggested. A major wooden coaster right next to Toro seems too redundant, even if an RMC would be incredible.
larrygator
I don't understand why a new launched coaster next to an existing launched coaster is not redundant, but an RMC next to a El Toro is redundant. Especially after a wood coaster sat next to El Toro since it was built. I think a launched family coaster make sense as the next coaster for the park. Or a dive machine. Sure as an enthusiast I'd prefer an RMC, but the others make more sense for the park's demographics. Edited April 18, 2014 by larrygator
alilstronger
^ I could not agree more. I would love to see them get something new and not a clone. I'd love to see something like Maverick, a custom invert, a euro fighter, Wooden Warrior (since El Toro may be scary for some), etc.

An RMC, which run like a steel coaster just like Intamin pre-fabs, with similar height/forces as Toro just doesn't make sense. A GCI twister I could make some sense of. As for the KK thing, there is a MAJOR contrast between a coaster with one crazy launch and a 456ft tophat and a coaster with multiple launches, sub-150ft in height, and multiple inversions and other elements. I could easily see them themimg it to as KK's son or something too.

There are to many little things that need to be addressed first. The park dominated the markets (unlike SFMM) so they don't need to spend all their capital expenditures in one place to bring in the crowds. The crowds are already there. I would not mind a comfortable EuroFighter like Dare Devil Dive. A Wooden Warrior type might work, also. Curious to see how Roar-a-Saurus is welcomed in Storyland. Generational
Honestly, if you were to do something to the anemic Movie Town area, it would have to be leveled almost completely. That means the Autobahn building, Musik Express, the theater, maybe even the amphitheater. Then you would have the complete liberty of theming the area, rather than try to work it into the existing architecture. Also, since it's kind of a mess back there. I am not opposed to the idea though, because developing an entirely new area with a few flats and maybe a roller coaster would be reminiscent of a slightly toned down "War on Lines," arguably the beginning point of when SFGadv began to flourish. I like the idea of theming a smaller launched coaster around Kingda Ka, too. However, not very likely.
Brassinthegrass
I think a rebuild of everything from the entrance of the park to Dark Knight is a good move for the park, it really has fallen to close disrepair... I could see them building new paths, with a wooden worrior type ride next to the main entrance pathway out to the parking lot, and something bigger over by the dark night, themed to DC would te into a rebuild of that section... It's really sad to see how the park management has seemed to completely forget about the entire side of the park... Nothing has really been done to help pull guests to that side of the park... Then again, maybe this has all been planned for the past few years and a big change is about to come to the area... We should all keep our eyes open! Generational
^ Like you said, maybe they have been planning something for a while, and the dismay is all a ruse! But that would make the most sense. Like I mentioned before, the park would benefit with a "War on Lines" for the Eastern side of the park. Also, it would match the relentless pace in which SFGadv has been adding attractions and such in recent years. First with Kingda Ka(which brought an entire new area to the park), then El Toro(which remodeled/themed an area of the park that was lacking), then the remodeling of Medusa, then Z:DOD. Hopefully this means they aren't about to let up.
