coasterfreak101
I always go to El Toro first for a front seat ride, then a few in the back seat before the station even starts to fill up. People start to head over to El Toro after their first ride on Kingda Ka, so when they fill in we head over to Kingda Ka and usually don't wait more than 20 minutes, once it's worked through its opening crowd. Then we backtrack over to Bizarro, which never has much of a line (but does have terrible operations), and make our way down to the Nitro/Batman area, which gets a little busier around that time but isn't overly bad. The Green Lantern/Superman area tends to die down in the late afternoon, so you might just want to ride the other stuff as much as you want and then head over there. Those rides have terribly slow-moving ops and lines, so it's probably best to just wait anyway.
YoshiFan
I had another great trip to the park today. Other than Kingda Ka being closed until a little after 3:00 and then getting a long line, everything except Superman, Sky Screamer, Congo Rapids and Green Lantern (it was a walk on using the single rider line around 2:30 and stayed that way) was less than a 10 minute wait and in most cases a walk on or 1 - 2 train wait. real_cameron
Im trying to plan a trip to Six Flags Great Adventure soon and I want to know if it is crowded on Sundays at that park, because I always go to parks on sundays and its never crowded. Let me know please because that park looks fantastic and I've never been there before this will be my first time ever.
biker7766
To answer both of your questions! On Sunday mornings, the park is dead except for Superman, Nitro, and Kingda Ka. You will be able to get walk-ons for mostly everything else. Keep in mind the Bizarro section opens at 11 in stead of the normal 10:30 park opening. You will probably be able to keep the short line streak up till 1. This is when I call "The Bomb", hits. The buses, the students, the church people, the crowds in general all explode at this one time. Last time I went, this past weekend. I got on most of the ride in 20-30 minutes, but Kingda Ka's line was 60 minutes, not worth it unless you haven't been on it yet, and El Toro which had a 30 minute line, but it was at the 90 minute point. IMO it probably is 30 mins. Definitely worth it. Yes, It is a fantastic park, but not the people there. I was made fun of just because I was giving advice to someone. I mean what is that? I am just trying to help! Well, good luck to you sir. Hope you enjoy!

My hometown park is Six Flags America and they have a bad reputation!
coastercrazy 9
Just wondering, what coasters will operate in a slight rain/drizzle?
larrygator
Just wondering, what coasters will operate in a slight rain/drizzle? It depends if lightning is within a certain distance of the park. No outdoor coasters will operate at SFGAdv if lightning is in the area.
Ccron10
I am planning on going to the park next Monday and the Sunday after that. How do you think crowds would be and would Flash Passes be needed?
YoshiFan
Flashpass will probably be needed on that Sunday, since there is a concert that day, though it will depend on the weather. You can probably get away without it on Monday.

IanKgtr
Planning a trip to the park tomorrow to try and take advantage of early June crowds (or lack thereof). I've already been to the park (once last year), so I'm aware of how to hit the rides. The last few pages don't exactly hurt either The one question I have regards Kingda Ka. I rode it last summer and thought it was awful. Maybe it was running poorly, but my ride was extremely rough and rattly, riding in row 3 or 4. Is there a specific row that gives smoother rides, or is every seat as rough as the one I had?
donkeyman18
I've Heard front row on the left side is nice but I don't know so far I don't have the Kahunas to ride
coasterfreak101
Every row rattles pretty bad, but the farther back you sit, the worse it gets. The back row can be headache-inducing, but the front is bearable, and definitely the best seat in the house!
BaMiTsPaT
Rode Kingda Ka yesterday, and the rattle in the second row was unbelievable! I do not know how people repeat ride this coaster. Keeping the head on the seat hurts, and it hurts when your head is off the headrest as well!
ernierocker
I don't have the Kahunas to ride Kahunas? I think you mean cojones. Kahunas is the Hawaiian word for priest or wizard. Edited June 14, 2012 by ernierocker
cfc
^He needs the power of a Kahuna to conjure up the cojones.
Lenaapple1974
Went to Great Adventure Sunday - and it was an awesome day. Except that Nitro apparently went down after our first (walk on, minus the delay that is) awesome ride in the last row, so we did not get to do our last ride of the day on it. It was having problems all day. Some friends of mine got stuck and had to be exited from the train...she wasn't clear on the where. Anyone know what the issue was? There was a delay, and they ran four or five trains around before I could board. They kept looking at something on the tracks right next to the train shed. I thought it may be a brake issue. I rode anyway. I love when people leave the line b/c of issues. They don't realize this happens more often than not. I'd rather them check and be safe than let us on and forget about being safe. Crowds were minimal! The parking lot was pretty empty. I am assuming b/c of the Puerto Rican parade in NYC?? We took our time and rode what we wanted. El Toro - amazing as always. Superman, practically no line - which is rare these days. Green lantern had two trains out, and was into only the first switchbacks. Medusa, eh hem - Bizarro - was walk on. So was Skull Mountain. Got to ride KK, with only a one train wait, running one side. Very exciting since there is always a zillion hour wait for it. There was a rattle, but the coolness of the ride far surpassed the two seconds of roughness. I did not get thrown around like some are saying. I was in the second car, front (3rd row). And no Skyscreamer for me - at least not yet. That thing rattles my bones. Even though the heat was a little annoying at times, It was a good day. Lots of fun, lots of color. Great day. coastercrazy 9
I have no problem with the Kingda Ka rattle. I'm too busy being awestruck with the launch.
NYJin2010tm
Glad to see people can still enjoy KK. I've been on it so many times that I find it a bore. I only go on it once a year just to ride once each year. Boring to me because all it is is a launch then up then down. Just isn't anything to that ride. I have a season pass and I mainly go to ride El Toro, Nitro, and Batman mainly. I finally rode GL and I will only ride it again when it's a walkon, nothing special. cal1br3tto
^^Yeah, I don't really have any problems with Kingda Ka. I know it's rattly, doesn't have the most highly acclaimed launch, and has a very quick and simple layout, but I still find it thrilling. I really enjoy the launch, speed and views. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I don't care if it's fashionable to pooh-pooh this ride, it's just a heck of a lot of fun! It also doesn't help that I've only been on TTD once, maybe twice in my whole life, and that was back in 2004.
YoshiFan
I was there from 3 - 7 today. Sky Screamer was closed the entire time I was at the park. Superman broke down and then went to 1 train and Kingda Ka broke down while I was in line. Crowds were still light but it was a little more crowded than my 2 other trips to the park this month. RideofSteel
After seeing that we had free bring a friend tickets we decided to visit yesterday planning to ride as much as we could with a friend who had never been there. But, we didn't realize that it was also a firefighter appreciation day. The park was absolutely packed. When we first got there at 10:40 we went to Nitro. We waited 3 or so trains for front row then walked around to ride again in the middle of the train. By the time we left Nitro, the line was already to the switchbacks. We then went over to Congo Rapids. There was no wait at all and after barely getting wet the first ride, we stayed on again. We got completely soaked! Would have rode it again, except a line was already forming. After seeing the skyride had a a large line, we walked across the park to Bizarro. Luckily, it was a station wait. Operations were typical to Bizarro...Terrible. We then walked to El Toro but seeing the line was already to the entrance we went to Kingda Ka, which ran without a major breakdown all day. We were able to get a front row ride in about an hour. By this time it was 2:00, so we decided to go out to the car and eat lunch. When we returned, we didn't know what to ride. Everything had such huge lines. (If I wasn't with a friend who had never been, I would have left). Frustrated, we decided we were going to ride El Toro no matter what. But, when we got over there, we saw then cycling empty trains. Luckily, after 10 minutes in the line they started running with people again. The operators were awesome they rarely stacked the trains; and it took us less then an hour to ride even though the line was to the entrance. Afterwards, we planned on riding the log flume, but it was down with the water drained, and three logs on the lift. Looking towards the fort, we saw that the Runaway Mine Train and Skyride's lines were both almost to the entrance. I was not going to wait for either. We walked to The Dark Knight which had a 30 minute wait. The trims BARELY were on, (it seemed like they weren't on in the top part at all) and there were some nice forces. We then made the mistake of choosing Green Lantern. We got into the line at about 5:40 expecting the line to move quick. That was not the case. The 6 attendants checking still managed to double stack EVERY SINGLE TIME WE WERE IN LINE. But, as soon as we got into the station we realized it wasn't their fault at all. It was a mix of the guests and the lead's...The lead was terrible. He should have been announcing to stand up straight and move quickly, but the only time he talked into the mic was when he cleared a train, or when a train returned. At one point, he even cleared to train only to be greeted with a screaming station telling him not to...There were still people loading. Don't you look around when you visual scan? Personally, I think he should have been fired or retrained to the policies. After the hour and a half it took us to get on, we decided to go home. Just a few notes.....Actually just one. -Line jumping was a major problem. Whole families just walked in front of other people. When security was alerted, they simply replied, since they didn't see it, they couldn't do anything.
coasterfreak101
SFA has the right system going with Apocalypse - as the airgates are about to open, they operator in the booth says that everyone has ten seconds to get in before the seats lock, and all the operators checking restraints wave the returning guests toward the exit and the entering guests into their rows. Not once did they stack trains, and that's on a ride much shorter than Green Lantern is (that manages to double-stack almost every time). Great Adventure desperately needs to take note.
