Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Yeah, I got to see El Toro as it valleyed. It hadn't tested the first 30min or so I was here, tested without dummies as I got to Macho Nacho, then valleyed right at the brakerun. They are pulling the train to the brakerun as we speak. I'll upload my pics later.

And Joker does look great on Main St!

lol I don't want to literally say in fear of getting in trouble.

I understand ride op struggles. Non Disclosure Agreements make me sad.

haha there's so much more I wish I could say! Also catch me at Toro Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hopefully it doesn't saddle *knocks on wood*

See you Friday, I'll be sure to look for you on my many laps.

Go for it! I'll be in maroon.

Toro's in the brakes. Hopefully they put some water dummies in it and fire it up.

Wow, thats the fastest Ive ever seen them winch it back up!

Just got back from the park. Some notes and pics...

-GREAT day at the park!!! Perfect weather, station waits for everything, and every important ride was open.

-...unfortunately, most food places were not. I understand the staffing issue, but BOTW, Mach Nacho and a bunch of places were closed. Took 20min to get chicken tenders on the Boardwalk with only one person in front of us. My only real knock on the day.

-El Toro valleyed on the first test run I saw it have of the day (got there around 10ish). We were approaching the ride by Macho Nacho when I saw it crawl over the RT hill, and it eventually valleyed right before the brakerun. An hour later I saw them use a pulley system via crane to SLOWLY bring it to the brakerun. An hour later they already had it open! Got second train of the year by pure luck, in the 2nd to last row (the magic seat!). First half ran faster than I expected for this early in the season, second half crawled a bit.

-Joker looks great! Fits like a glove at the end of Main St. To my surprise, it has NOT been "topped off" in terms of the citcuit being complete. There is one piece missing in the brakerun area.

-For the first day, ride operations were on point. They were cranking out trains everywhere except El Toro, but I'm assuming that had a little to do with the morning valley.

-The lakefront looks awesome without the vacant Grandstand taking up space. They still closed the area off, but when it opens it should look good.

-Overall, awesome day to start the season!!!

Maybe it's because I haven't waited more than 10min for Medusa/Bizarro since circa-2002 I never noticed this...they REALLY were this lazy with the theming?!? Hahaha.

Just wanted to say that based on the opening day reports I'm really proud of this park.

Just to recap, they painted the Skyway cars that desperately needed it, they fixed the fan theming in the Batman queue which hasn't worked in years, they valleyed el toro, winched it out and opened it within about an hour, they painted Nitro's supports and ops are generally solid. I'm impressed!

What supports did they paint? On my ride I looked at the lift supports from the brakerun and they definitely weren't freshly painted.

I gotta say I'm very impressed with the direction SF has gone in the last year. I went in the first half of the 2015 season and was disgusted with the state of the park, operations were downright god awful. I ran into 2 separate ride ops (On Superman and Kingda Ka) that were exceedingly rude for no apparent reason. Not to mention the park itself was very, very dirty (There was actually a puddle of vomit right inside the gate, park services were sweeping all around it, but not bothering with the puke itself. No petro or anything on it)

However, I went again in the second half of the season, then again for HiTP, and I had zero issues. I'm happy to hear they've painted some rides, Nitro looked like complete shit, and has for years now. Really gave me the impression that SF doesn't take care of their rides, runs them until they're unsafe to run, then just tears them out.

Can't wait to see how the park looks on Monday!

So a quick snapshot of my opening day at SFGA:

- Made it out of NYC around 3:30pm

- Got home, exchanged the suit/tie for some cargo shorts and a tee.....and made it inside the park around 5:30pm

- I have the good fortune of a flexible work/travel schedule, so figured with the good weather/opening on a Wednesday- how can I not take advantage?

Mission accomplished tonight- hit the right-hand goodness first, follow-up by the left-hand goodness (I could do without anything in the middle!)

#1 Nitro- walk on back row

#2 Skull Mountain- walk on back row (almost skipped it, but someone on this board is very passionate about this ride- so I didn't want to let him down!)

#3 Batman- walk on front row (damn, damn, damn- I forgot how awesome that front row is! And BTW- no secret on this board, however- what an unbelievable coaster this is! I can't believe how it continues to be so awesome for its' age!

A quick dinner break at J.Rockets at the fountain- no wait! (BTW- watching them operate, this/food at the park will be a major cluster-____ this weekend!)

#4 El Toro- one train running tonight, sat in the back, maybe a two-cycle wait

#5 Bizarro- walk on front row (like Batman, I forgot how awesome that front row is! Maybe b/c I NEVER wait to be in the front!)

#6 Ka- two-cycle wait for the front row (I don't know what the hell got into me tonight....I was so NOT up to get on it, but how could I not, with no one in then park? shame on me b/c I forgot how AMAZING that front row is!)

At that point- it was about 7:40pm.....boogied over to Nitro; walk on front row (loved it!), and stayed on for another run, but moved to the back

Ding! Ding! 8pm- and had my fill!

For those of you lucky enough (like me) to make it today......I doubt we'll get another day like today this year! (with such great weather)

For those of you headed to the park within the next week and a half- welcome back and enjoy! Let the season begin!

Yeah once they found out the President/CEO/Chairman and also a client of the Cult of Skull Mountain* was in the building they got that bull bucking real f*cking fast. Valley deez nuts baybee! Got 5 much needed laps on that monster today. Station waits for mostly everything. Rode a ton, had a weird yet awesome opening day. I'm exhausted but I'll have a report tomorrow. COASTERBILL: I FINALLY RODE KA IN THE FRONT ROW.

P.s. Really nice meeting you @coneyislandchris and it working out perfectly that we got to share a lap on Toro, always nice to put a face to a name, and getting to ride one of the best coasters on planet earth with another TPR'er!

*ironically I didn't even ride Skull Mountain today. We height checked my nephew but he's got at least another year to be inducted into The Cult.

I never realized how beautiful the location was for this coaster. Looks like it is in an awesome setting with the water nearby. Cant wait to see this thing testing!

Also, how the hell does El Toro valley?! That coaster seems to always be flying into the brake run!!

Anywho, Thanks for the photos, and the report!
