Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

P. 778: Pantherian project update!

Recommended Posts

^^ The post you quoted is a great post where someone is simply stating their opinion. You on the other hand simply assume that people that have a different opinion than you do only have that opinion because they "can't handle" I305. I've said it before and I'll say it again... I can "handle" it just fine, re-ride it constantly when at KD and have it on my top 10. It's amazing. That being said, I like Fury 325 a lot better. It's my opinion and it's not based on "Not being able to handle" I305... I just think Fury is the better ride. It has better restraints, better airtime (in my opinion, and I don't know or care if it's more forceful airtime but I know it's much more enjoyable with clamshells), I prefer the layout, I love the turnaround, I love the headchopper and I love the intense run out to the turnaround. Just my opinion of course.

See how I did that... I stated my opinion without bashing yours. You should try it sometime.

Nice, you go ride that and I'll ride the better ride. No worries

I've always enjoyed Intamin's coasters, heck, there are more of them in my top 5 coasters than B&M! But I love B&M too, and these two loves, are not mutually exclusive!

Fun fact: The least intense coaster I have ever ridden is an Intamin... "No, it can't be!!!", cry the fanboys! Sure thing... Wilderness Express.

Every manufacturer can make any level of thrill. It just depends on what the park wants, not their capabilities.

Did you even read the comment you were replying to? Hell even the last line?

yes ill ride 305 and he will ride fury, nuff said. move along hehe

You would do better to read the comments of your Friendly Neighborhood Site Moderator:

OK, everyone needs to cool off a bit here. Some prefer Intamin. Some prefer B&M. We all get it.

For some folks, like me, this is the most important criterion when "judging" any ride: Is it any fun at all? That should be your main concern.

And heed the wisdom of Lurch.

I believe both companies have there strengths. Intamin makes amazing rides with wicked fast transitions that never let up drop to final brake run. B&M will always own the big mega looper market. If I want a megalite or intense twisty awesome machine Ill go intamin. If I want a graceful and smooth hyper or a wickedly sick invert Ill go B&M. They both have there own style

Please just enjoy whatever you get. Small parks would die for either company. In fact, they usually dream of having a B&M more because it is more feasible than an Intamin in almost all cases. Yet, you guys are sad that it could be a B&M? Other than Shockwave leaving, we have no announcements yet.

And only Shockwave is leaving - you're not replacing a favorite attraction (though I found Shockwave to be better than the B&M counterpart.

My point being, as much as it would be awesome for KD to get another Intamin, B&M still seems like the number one company for Cedar Fair. And it makes sense. They make coasters that are big enough for signature attractions at big parks, and small enough for major attractions at small parks.

^ and ^^ and ^^^ I thought we were in the Kings Dominion discussion thread, but I guess not.

Interesting how I don't see "moderator" in your signature

Then allow me to clarify things for you. Let's keep the Kings Dominion thread on topic, please.

I really don't care either way, just like making the backseat moderator upset

Your contribution has been duly noted and logged. Please do not fan any flames.

Is it sad that every since Intimidator 305 opened I have been dying to ride the coaster?? It's one of those bucket list coasters.

Nope, its great. Totally understandable to want to ride I305. Rode it 6 times yesterday. I have no idea what people are talking about when they say it lacks airtime. I got ejected in the back row over the first drop, first airtime hill, and floated through the transitions. Lots of airtime in the back, less in the front (obviously). I grayed out all 6 times I rode it, and it is normally a very short wait! Yesterday was walk on even during peak hours.

^^ Greying out is common on that ride, it's insane! You should have ridden it in the first weeks though. They changed it after because people were blacking out left and right! Now THAT was an experience! (I came really close, but never blacked out myself. It was the first ride I ever greyed out on though!)

Greying out is not "fun" for me. I think that's why I am always hesitant to ride I-305. I'd much rather ride Volcano

I agree 100%. Graying/Blacking out is in no way a "fun" experience on any ride. To me, it is a design flaw that makes the ride to extreme to be enjoyable. Nothing I would want to happen again.

I305, to me, scores highest with it's continuous high-speed, curves, and smoothness. Those quick directional changes are comparable to Wicked Twister's, which has incredible rotational forces. The ride truly is crazy intense. I wish the park kept that original pond promoted in the concept videos. Maybe with a bit more vegetation too. The ride could really benefit with some surroundings, because I really didn't get much of a sensation of speed.

(inb4rage)I really wish the ride had better airtime, because it was extremely disappointing. Especially considering that there were three hills designed just for airtime. The airtime on i305 is comparable to Gemini's, and that's being generous.

Other than that, and few other minor things, the ride scores high in my book. I give it a 8.

I personally think a GCI to replace Hurler (I don't think RMC could even fix this), or a Flying Coaster next to the front gate would be best for the park's next big coaster.
