Wait, there is actually going to be a safari-themed ride in Safari Village? Is that allowed? 🤣

My money, in all seriousness, is on Tiki Twirl.  CF already has a logo drawn up and everything.

He has a lot more history with Kings Dominion than just 2 years. You also forgot that Carnival and Winterfest also came in under him (I know they aren't rides, but I feel they are big improvements for

I'm sure most of you have heard about Iron Wolf leaving SFGAm, do you think this could happen to Shockwave in the next year? It would make a little sense, Shockwave is a waste of money to run, its getting too dated, and nobody rides it. Do you think Kings Dominion will get rid of it or maybe they'll keep it to make it last as the oldest Stand-up in the world?

No, I strongly believe Shockwave will be around for atleast a few more years. John Pagel has said that the ride doesn't cost much to maintain. Plus, the ride was just painted this year which hints that they plan to keep it around atleast a few more years. Shockwave always has people riding it and a line. I've never seen empty rows on the train or a wait under about 10 minutes. Now I know the line can be blamed on the GP trying to figure out how to get loaded and unloaded, but still people ride Shockwave more than they ride some other rides in the park. The GP just thinks the whole concept of standing up is cool it seems. Also, KD has parts from KI's old standup for replacement parts if anything ever breaks or needs replaced...

If you buy tickets online from KD, do you need to have the credit card you paid with with you at the ticket gate that day?

Also, I have a choice between the $38.99 Pink Day tickets (have to specify which day you're going) and the $43.99 tickets (have to buy at least a week in advance but aren't limited to a specific day). I'm assuming the Pink Day tickets are the way to go? Only flaw is that if I get rained out, I'm screwed

No news on our 2012 attraction yet, even from the "inside" My boss spoke to Pat Jones the other day and said she was unsure as to what's coming in.

I'm still banking on a Screamin' Swing right next to 3 Point Challenge!

I really really really don't want a WIndseeker.

I don't want Windseeker either. I think that'd fit better at Carowinds. KD should get a few smaller flats instead of one big one.

If we do get a windseeker just be lucky we're getting it as it could be worse,we could be like MIA who in all likelyhood isn't getting a thing for 2012.

I remember years ago (30 plus) KD having lots of flats and non coaster rides. Over the years most of them have disappeared, never to be replaced. This an area that could be addressed, mostly with some more intense flats for teens and older people.

At least KD hasn't gotten Six Flagged in terms of flats

So thankful that CW has kept their classics and added some great new flats as well over the years. A Windseeker would be really cool, especially for those too chicken to ride that massive gyro drop.. lol

Well, I'd prefer the SkyScreamers like the Six Flags parks got to the Windseekers. A bit more thrilling looking. Of course, no matter what it is, a new ride is good I suppose.

I would love a Windseeker at KD, and I think it would fit the park well (especially since our Drop Tower doesn't spin). Just think at how they could market the ride, "a swing ride nearly the height of Drop Tower and Intimidator 305".

I hope we do get a Windseeker for 2012, so call me crazy!

By my own and friends' past experiences, the crowds are definitely light after Labor Day until Halloween Haunt, which doesn't begin until September 30th this year. I don't even think a lot of people even know KD is open between Labor Day and Halloween Haunt. Keep in mind though, KD isn't open every Saturday and Sunday because they rent out the park to companies during this time. They are only open September 10th, 11th, and 25th. The are "closed" the 17th, 18th, and 25th for the private functions this year.

I'd prefer a windseeker to that...of course what I'd really like to see at the park is a nice shiny new B&M invert after riding Afterburn at carowinds last week.

Anyone know what the weather at the park is gonna be like saturday?I plan to take my GF down to KD & hope not to have to reschedule the trip on account of rain.

^Most likely hot as hell. You could try going to weather.com and entering "Doswell, VA" as a location. Just a friendly tip.

on the subject of flats, i miss Apple Turnover the most. that was the first thrill ride / upside down ride i wasn't too chicken to ride, and i rode it over and over and over and over and over.

oh also i noticed on my most recent visit that the kiddie swing ride (shaped like a tree, near the park ranger jeeps that revolve around a giant hat) has been dismantled. that's a shame, i believe it's one of the park's oldest rides. however, i do understand why. my daughter is 3 years old and small for her age, and even she had trouble not dragging her feet on the ground while it was running. i guess it was sagging or the chains were getting stretched out or something, because i don't remember having that problem when i used to ride it so long ago.

I so miss AT because I never got to ride it & always chickened out but I did ride carowinds enterprise last week so that kinda makes up for it I guess.I wonder what they can put in place of the tree swings for the kids? I too have noticed that it appears they're taking it out so we'll have to wait & see.
