Will this now be the park with the most launched coasters? Was it already? Help me out here!

Outer Limits

Hypersonic

Volcano

Italian Job

4 Launched in one park!

Yep, Paramount Parks is continuing to baffle me with their ride selections for each park. One would think this ride would fit right in over at Carowinds, what with the park having *no* launch coasters. But in Doswell, it will be the fourth.

But to answer your question Elissa, they had the record with 3, and they will have the record with 4.

PKD also has 4 wood coasters that squeal like biatches. They also have an old school and a new school flying scooter. They also have the worst placed in park waterpark in the business, now with Rebel Yell dividing it in half, with a 10 mile hike between each half.

The big positive here? At least enthusiasts and the park itself knows what to expect out of the ride, as apposed to the gimmicky prototypes that have popped up over the years.

I'm looking forward to this one, myself. I'm glad that PKD is trying something other than just another pile of metal. I also liked the new Tomb Raider attraction (and I'm not a spinner type of guy).

Some coaster fanatics were ticked at BGW for Curse of DarKastle because, well, it wasn't a coaster (nothing like criticizing a ride for what you think it should've been rather than what it is). I was glad Busch built DarKastle--it's an excellent dark-ride/simulator that's all the more remarkable for being in a seasonal park.

How will Italian Job stack up? Guess I'll figure that out for myself next summer.

^ Sorry Elissa, but I figure I can tell you that the PKD version lost the Copyright or whatever on Outer Limits, and now it's only FoF. The PKI version is stil Outer Limits though! Yes, I'm a complete coaster nerd!!!

The indoor launch coaster at PKI is also called Flight of Fear

The IJST at PKI was one of the best themed coasters I've ever seen, it also gave a tremendous ride. So all i have to say to anyone who thinks the one at PKI sucks is: WTF?

You know I can see that the waterpark on the park side of Rebel Yell will get smaller and smaller and just be on the other side of Rebel Yell as the park adds new stuff. Makes sense...look they're already doing it with this

"Lights, camera, action – the ride experience recreates the six scenes of the climatic final chase sequence of the film:

Scene One Race through parking garage

Scene Two Fly down subway stairs

Scene Three Dodge police cars

Scene Four Screech to a halt and narrowly avoid gunfire from a

helicopter

Scene Five Chase through sewer tunnel

Scene Six Plunge through a billboard and into an LA aqueduct"

If I remember correctly, the police chase came before the stairs...Possible variation? Or just an uber-typo

Anyway, I dont see what's wrong with building more. Sure, they arent the most exiting ride, but considering their designed for familys...They have some good spots in them when the theming works. Hell, I've gotten random pops of air occasionally....Its a nice addition that is a good candidate to be cloned...

FoF was CRAZY! Sure, its a bit rough but that finale at the end was insane, I loved it.

Italian Job is a good ride. Its not very intense but the back seat serves up some small portions of airtime. Its a great family ride and the transition from airtime to pull up in the water splash is VERY quick. So much so my hands were up and it slammed it down onto our cars mirror and felt like I broke my hand.

Still, a "good" ride for what it is.

ugg this isn't what pkd should do with its money. I mean I know a lot of ppl say that kinda thing, but for the sake of the Pkd'ness of pkd, its really not the best use of space for their park

meh, I talked about it with my friend and he made a good point

it'll make people go to that and it means more time on grizzly and volcano

hehehe

Since I am the "unofficial PKI girl" here, and a mom, I can tell you that if you are looking for big thrills, this ain't it. That said, they are very accurate in calling it a family coaster. If you have been to PKI before, I can sum it up for you this way:

Faster and more thrilling than the kiddie coasters

Smoother and more enjoyable than Adventure Express

Would, in my opinion, leave a "coaster enthusiast" feeling disappointed

It's a fun little ride... but definitely NOT worth a wait of, say, longer than 10-15 minutes. Great coaster for kids just hitting that 48" mark. The launch is slower than any other launched coaster I have ridden, but still a big thrill for a little kid who's been denied riding one (are there any launched "kiddie coasters" out there?). My biggest issue is it is an incredibly short ride. Kiddie coaster short. The tunnel at the end is the best, as it is very dark and twisty, and then you come flying out through the "billboard" at the crowd in line. Nice effect, better than the "cop cars and fire" that you brake for right before the tunnel.

Lol..I'm not sure to what parks you have been to, but IJST definatly does not have the best or even moderatly good themeing. All it is is a few shipping containers and rocks and gravel everywhere! :?

All this season and during construction before I had a chance to ride IJST at Pcw I had never raised my hopes of it being a 'good' coaster. When I first rode it back at the beginning of September it actually surprised me and I enjoyed it.

For a family coaster it is pretty decent. The only part I think is lame is the part where the trains swerve around the cars. However, I guess without all the effects working properly I never really got the full experience.

The first helix was really fun and had more g's than I ever thought it would. The tunnel at the end was also fun.

I just hope that the effects are working properly and regularly next season. Of my 3 visits to Pcw this year, none of the onboard effects were working and the water SQUIRT was only working on one day.

I have been to probably thirty or fourty parks, and I feel that other than Disney this is some of the best theming I've seen( Granted my home parks were SFKK and WOF) I still stand by what I've said, and if u dont like it: SHOVE IT!

I agree with others in that IJST probably isn't the best coaster to go into PKD at the moment, although it is much more of an asset than most of you make it out to be.

My home park is PCW so I've had the chance to ride our version of it a few times, and all of them have been enjoyable. It isn't the most thrilling ride in the world, but it's still something that I'll ride as long as the line isn't too busy. It is one of the better family coasters out there, and it's really nice when my uncle and I can find a coaster that we can go on with his 2 kids. The fire effects in the helicopter scene never get old, and they do produce ALOT of heat.

The thing that bugs me is...the ride acts like its 5 years old. The helicopters been busted for who knows how long. The splash is so gay compared to the one at PKI. The police cars part is a little chesy 'cause the cars just sit there doing nothing, and most of the time, I can't hear any sirens or anything. The headlights have never worked for me.

Remember, I'm talking about PCWs

This makes me want to redo the trip we took earlier this year! We went to P:KD, BGW, DP, HP and SFGAdv. This year, 4 of those parks got new rides. Next year, so far 3 of those parks are getting new rides. All the reason to go back!! DP and BGW arent getting new stuff, but both parks were awesome and would be worth visiting again.

I got a chance to ride PKI's version this summer, and it wasn't much. the launch was weak and I got none of the 'special effects' that are supposed to be on the cars. The tunnel was kind of ruined with bright red exit signs all over the place and the 3rd launch can't be felt. It also has terrible capacity. Just really helped that I was a single rider. I got my ride, and now I'm done.

^^^ DP/WWK is already digging for the new wave pool. Theres rumor (and nothing more) of something else flat maybe going in.. but I'll wait until I see it.

(since I drive by it every day, it's fairly easy for me to see things being "added")

I took three trips on "The Italian Job" during my visit to PKI, in late August this season. I was placed in rows 3,5,6. The 2nd and 3rd rides were based on hopes of riding in the front seat. I had plenty of extra time considering "Outer Limits" and "Top Gun" failed to open that day. I asked to wait for the front seat during my last trip. I got to choose

between rows five and six. The people directly behind me asked the same question, then were escorted to the front seat. The quality of the ride was comparable to the line attendant's work ethic. I wasn't very impressed with the theming. Scene Six: (The Billboard) was the only exceptional piece of theming in the ride. The ride offered almost no air time with slight lateral G forces. There are trims located before and after Scene Six. The last trim brake wasn't very friendly; thrusting me forward. Other than that, the ride is fairly smooth. Overall, I rated it as an "Average Family Attaction" (6/10). I wouldn't plan A trip around this attraction. I went in with low expectations and left feeling dissapointed.

I aggree with those of you who think that Carowinds would have made A better home for this attraction.
