Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I know you guys are tired of all this speculation but I've stumbled across this website about the replacement of shockwave and other future attractions. We can't for sure tell if its true or not but here. http://themeparksandtravels.com/2015/07/29/kings-dominion-update-and-the-latest-rumors-could-kings-dominion-be-clearing-land-behind-i-305/

I need to have proof that there is land clearing behind the Intimidator, I'll check that out myself during my next visit. My bet is still on the Shockwave plot and surrounding trees (adjacent to the Eiffel Tower walkway) being used for the 2016 attraction. However, Kings Dominion does have a lot of land back there, and I would not be surprised to see a 2017 attraction/roller coaster be the first to cash in on this untapped acreage. If the Intimidator is truly being renamed/rethemed, they might retheme it to an extraterrestrial theme to match the Flight of Fear (or retheme both coasters) and then a 2017 attraction behind it could expand upon this "Area 51" or other themed land concept.

Here's a bold prediction: If a new coaster is truly being built behind Intimidator, then what will go on Shockwave's land is a DINING HALL. Why? Because Cedar Fair is keen on upgrading the food at their parks, as evidenced by Carowinds. Also, maybe a slingshot could go near it.

BTW this business of only running one train on Volcano is ridiculous.

Wait they're running one train on Volcano during the summer season? Holy crap we all need to start a Plinko / Fastlane savings account.

They were for most of the day yesterday but at the very end they all of a sudden decided to run 2.

Saturday morning me and my son went to get our last rides on Shockwave but of course took advantage of early ride time on I-305 and forecast said 0% chance of rain on Friday but of course at 1030am we were there in a downpour that lasted about an hour. I have never experienced pain like that before. 90+mph, front seat in the rain is quite the experience.but since I had my camera I thought it would make for good pics of people experiencing this crazy pain so here are some cool pics of I305 in the pouring rain.

I experienced I305 in the rain one time in May 2013. It hurt like hell in the front row.

I also noticed that it rattled more than my last visit when I went yesterday.

found this interesting. everyone has noticed the hyper coaster on the left that i circled in burgundy, but what about the invert behind intimidator305 that very few have noticed. could this be reason for land clearing behind i305?

^Yes... We have all seen it... and discussed it... and concluded that it is only an artist's mistake or filler object so as to keep from having empty skyline. Look at all the other CF parks' banners and you'll find inaccuracies like this one.

People need to stop thinking everything is a clue.

I think that the land clearing is for 2017. Now for what could be coming?

Kings Dominion is a big testing ground for Paramount/Cedar Fair. I feel like they are getting something unique. I think that Cedar Fair is waiting so long to give KD their coaster because it's something they are trying to develop.

In real, non-generic graphic design news...

What appears to be the first building permit was filed with Hanover County on July 2nd, 2015.

$500,000 seems like an appropriate price to remove a crappy coaster. Rest in pieces.

As of July 31st, this was the only building permit filed. With the announcement happening sometime this month (rumored Thursday August 20th), I'd expect to see more building permits filed within the next month.
