Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom Discussion Thread

p. 201 - Iron Menace announced for 2024!

Recommended Posts

We always go to Dorney for haunt because it's dead. There are like two mazes that might get lines and Steel Force and Talon might max out at 30 minutes for a few hours in the evening but it's basically same old, same old. For most of the day and late at night, all coasters are walk-ons and the mazes clear out fast.

Pro tip: The earlier you go in the year, the more of a ghost town the place will be. Also, there's a decent chance they'll run their log flume during the day those first few weekends and it's probably the best ride in the park. If you go on a Friday night early on the place is hilariously dead.

Well this sounds lovely. Troegs would be on the way back too so...uh...I may make my first ever Dorney visit this year!

We all love the log flume. For some reason though this year rather than the standard "light, refreshing mist" we've usually gotten, it's been turned up to "Whitewater Landing-light" mode.

YES! That log flume is so good. More splash, more fun!

It's that really small drop right before you go under lift hill that seems to always get me soaked.

If there isn't going to be anything on the ride side added next year (or nothing major), I hope there is at least a new addition to Wildwater Kingdom. Next year will be 5 years since Snake Pit was added and it would be nice to see something else to help spread out crowds more. Yesterday was the most crowded I have seen the water park all season (for a weekday). Many of the slides had lines to the bottom of the stairs. Aquablast looked like it had over an hour wait.

It would be nice if Dorney is actually getting something good next year, but who knows at this point. They’ve really just been a let down with all the additions we’ve seen from these past years. I hope we do get at least something next year and won’t be another park-improvement year like we had this year.

Is that what we're calling the new chicken stand in the water park?

I guess it can be considered whatever you’d like it too. Maybe we’ll get another one next year to make the park even better.

I think I know what the fast lane surprise is thanks to Wof Facebook.

They are saying to check back tomorrow to find out how to win a Fast lane pass for a year

When buying season passes. Then it also says a few other surprises for Wof which probably means

Trash cans and restaurants. I’m guessing this is a new promotion for the small parks.

Best of luck to all us small ones tomorrow Wof, Valleyfair, Michigan’s Adventure and Dorney

^Nice!!! Well at least the big parks have incentive to purchase season passes with their Gigas and or new coaster

every couple years. Like I said Best of luck to the small parks tomorrow. You can’t expect a rise in attendance if you don’t

add the big stuff every 10 years or so

The parks get what they get for a reason. They produce littlereenue and EBIDTA. CF did a study of all their parks in the army 2010a that lead to the increased investments and plans for CGA, Carowimda, Wonderland. The economics, demographics, income, etc of all the areas were studied. The smaller park that scored well was CGA. VF was second best reading between the lines of CF statements over the years. Wonderland and Carowimda were obvious to get not investments being fast growing cities. CF had the big 5 and it's going to what I feel the selected even...CP, KI, Carowinds, Wonderland, KB, KD, and CGA. VF seems to be 85th in the pecking order with the positive statements on them the last year or so on their growth despite no massive rides added. The other 3 parks are in no man's lands essentially. They make a small amount, but not to justfy major investment because he ROI is not evident.

The parks get what they get for a reason. They produce little revenue and EBIDTA n the totality of the chain. VF seems to be 8th in the pecking order with the positive statements on them the last year or so on their growth despite no massive rides added. The other 3 parks are in no man's lands essentially. I’m aware of that, and it’s Six Flags too. These companies act like they can’t scratch the back of the little guy.

Maybe I’m gonna sound like a socialist, but what about profit sharing?

Great companies don’t let their other parks sink or swim.

I think it’s funny Cedar Fair said on their conference call that their was a 6 percent loss on revenue,

But what about that HUGE corporate tax cut the president gave out. Where did that money go?!?

There is no way that was figured into their profit and why would it.

Just my opinion

People go to Dorney for the water park, the rides side is just a bonus. They also put money into the Haunts which bring people in. I enjoy Dorney for what it is but people always try to spin Dorney into trying to be something more than it is and its just not going to happen.

I'm not one to look into stuff like this, but could they be announcing something tomorrow?

If my sources are correct, dorney might be announcing a new coaster.

I keep refreshing the website with unbridled anticipation. What time is the big announcement?
