Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom Discussion Thread

p. 201 - Iron Menace announced for 2024!

Recommended Posts

The front seat (or car 1, rows 2 and 3, to a lesser extent) ejector airtime on the hills (especially the first one, before the first turn) is actually pretty impressive, even if you have your seatbelt as tight as it'll get, it'll be loose by the final turnaround. I've walked away with bruised knees before from being thrown into the non-padded part of the buzz bar.

This. The ride easily has the most airtime in the park, but it's a rough ride. Sit in 1:2 and you'll get some unexpected pops of ejector airtime. And when I say ejector, I mean ejector.

Not this again. Are there two Dorney Parks? Have I been going to the wrong one all these years?

Regarding Thunderhawk? The ride has no airtime anywhere but the front car but it delivers plenty up there... still a crappy coaster in it's current form though which is too bad because it has a ton of potential.

I think it's a great ride until the trim happens. It's smooth for a roller coaster approaching 100.

Definitely much better in the front, not nearly as rough and some really nice pops, but the back of Thunderhawk is a forty-five second long car wreck. Speaking of Dorney airtime, if I'm not totally stapled into the front row of Talon (which is unfortunately often because of the OTSRs+my size) I get a really nice pop coming up into the break run.

Hydra, back row, first drop and airtime hill. Even if you're stapled, you just go flying. Shame Train 1 is a rattley, rough mess these days. Rode it today on Train 1 (We were only running 1 train, park was dead, even by Dorney standards) and walked away with a headache. Hopped on Train 2 yesterday though, and that was perfectly fine.

Is there a way to tell which train is which on Hydra? Whenever I ride it I get the rattley one.

First car, on the unloading side, there's a number. I believe there's the same number on the loading side, but I'm not sure. I don't usually work Hydra.

I always manage to get the rattley one too. Its a head jostler.

I was finally able to ride Stinger on yesterday (Labor Day). They were a little slow getting it up and running but they finally gave it the all clear. Guess they are extra careful with it now. It was good other than all I could think of was the person facing me losing their breakfast.

Went on Saturday morning and got on every coaster + demon drop in under an hour and a half with no waits to be seen before heading off to great adventure.

Thinking of going back for HAUNT, is it any good? It looks like it's included with a day ticket? (aka platinum pass holders get in free?)

I only did the Haunt once, but I enjoyed it. It's good considering the park it's at

I think if CF ever builds a RMC it should be at Dorney with a topper track. Downey is a park that a RMC will fit well into and it is a low risk-high reward bc the closest RMC is wicked cyclone.

Very valid point. It would also be wise to add one before Hershey does.

dorney's haunt is AMAZING in my opinion. if you had to choose between sfga and dorney on a halloween event to attend i suggest dorney 100%. if you choose sfga good luck getting on one ride if any. plus dorney's haunts are so much better than the craappy sfga ones.

Last year we did both Dorney and Great Adventures halloween events - once @ each park and overall I enjoyed Dorney's much more. In fact I want to do it again this year. Shorter lines for the coasters/rides, the parks lighting/fog game were much more on point, no waits for the coasters, better scare actors in the scare zones (we dont do trails), and did I mention the walking onto coasters thing? The park was decently busy too, but no waits whatsoever for the coasters/flats. I can't comment on the lines for or quality of the trails @ Dorney or Great Adv though, but I know that we got a gold flash pass when we did Fright Fest @ Great Adv.

I remember doing a Friday night haunt at Dorney back in 2010 and being flat out amazed at the quality (and quantity!) of the walkthroughs. Everything from super scary to story driven experiences that you don't really see at regional parks. Plus, no lines! Really great night there.
