Source I really like this idea. My wife and I have always wanted to try a cruise mainly to relax and for the food. Feels almost like a starter pack for people who aren't too sure about the cost o

Yeah I have no idea what to expect all I know is I am looking forward to the stop in Jamaica, and it will be tough to be in Orlando and not go to an amusement park.

So the cruise leaves on a Sunday at 4:30 from Port Canaveral. I have a few questions.

How does boarding work? do they schedule a time for you or do you just show up whenever before departure time?

We will most likely have all of Saturday free, by the time we go my son will be 3 1/2. I was considering planning it to where we do one of the Disney parks for the day. With just one day and having never been before what park should we do? are February Saturdays usually crowded?

You can arrive as early as 10:30am and they usually start boarding by 11:30 and you can get lunch on board. You can also show up as late as about 2pm but you're paying for the ship, might as well get on it!

The Disney parks are pretty much always crazy now. You'll have to check the schedule and see what events are going on in February (usually some sort of marathon) and cheer/dance or something.

Just to echo what the others have said we did oasis on the back of the TPR photos of allure and out of the 7 cruises the ship is by far the best I have ever been on. The only small negative is due to the size of the ships you can not do some islands.

Also great to see harmony at sea and not long till we see the slides added.

Finally a sign of construction on the Ultimate Abyss dry slides at the aft end of the Harmony of the Seas. Vertical support posts installed.

You can barely make out the port side post behind the AquaTheater balconies in this photo. The starboard post stands out well enough.

For an idea of what the slides will look like, check out this model of the Harmony of the Seas at the Seatrade Cruise Global 2016 show this month. Photo by Cruise Ship Supplies Australia.

To the much more experienced cruisers than myself, what has been your favorite excursions? we will be stopping in Labadee Haiti, Falmouth Jamaica, and Cozumel Mexico.

You're pretty limited in Labadee and even to some extent in Falmouth. For Cozumel, I'm pretty much 100% opposed to wasting precious time taking the ferry to Playa De Carmen for anything on the mainland. My wife did one of the beach break excursions a couple months ago when sailing on the Brilliance (?) from Tampa, and reported that it was good. "Three Reef Snorkel" is a commonly seen excursion at the Cozumel ports and even with the reef damage that's been sustained there, you'll see some pretty cool stuff. The one that's interested me along those lines for awhile is Isla Pasion via Twister, which is a jet boat ride to a beach club sorta situation. The town itself is the worst of mass tourism. I'd barely bother walking around.

We had a great time in those ports in 2011. In Labadee, we loved the super high zip line, and the mountain coaster! In Falmouth, we did the Dunns River Falls, it was a lot of fun, but the water is kind of sketchy. Then, we did the Jamaican bobsled mountain coaster and had a great lunch at the top of the hill. In Cozumel, we went on ATV's and had a blast. We had a great time in those ports.

Memories of our Allure of the Seas cruise a few years back.

Labadee has an awesome zip line, (expensive, but do it once for the view), and you have to do the Alpine coaster.

In Flamouth, your stuck to take an excursion to get anywhere. We did the Dunn's River Falls and Bobsled combo. The Bobsled feels like the fastest and my favorite Alpine coaster. Probably the only coaster where I have difficulty not going "Balls Out". The trees are so close to the track.

I've been to Cozumel a few times. I like the Money Bar for a day of relaxing, food and snorkel. Chankanaab Park is a good place to take the family for the day. I once drove all the way South to Punta Sur and found it had an awesome park for a beach day full of activities.

Thank you for the suggestions. I probably wont get to do an excursion at each stop as we will have a 3 year old and a 1 year old with us but I am definitely going to make sure I get out to at least one of them.

Any recommendations for the following ports:

Livorno (Florence/Pisa)

Cannes

Marseille

Barcelona

Naples

We're on the 7-day Western Mediterranean Cruise out of Civitavecchia in 7 weeks for our Honeymoon. Looking for cultural and can't miss excursions.

Thank you in advance!

It depends what you want and how much transit time you're willing to spend on trains/buses, honestly. There's big obvious stuff (Sagrada Familia, Pompeii, Monaco) with those ports, there's less obvious stuff (Cinque Terre, Siena, Amalfi Coast, Saint-Rémy). To me, you can't go wrong with any of it. If you don't care about art/architecture/urban parks & spaces/history, you could always do something else like hit summer funfairs on the Cote D'Azur?

Also, do yourself a favor and look into private tours for some of these ports. They are about the same price as the ship sponsored ones and can usually do a lot more. You can even find people on your ship roll call that want to share and then they become even cheaper. We're doing private tours for all of our Italy and Greece cruise ports this summer.

This is good advice just about anywhere, but definitely in Europe. Plus a lot of places you can just do your own thing assuming you aren't scared to use an automated ticket machine.

They have started adding the metal slide sections to the Ultimate Abyss dry slides on the Harmony of the Seas.

They'll be winding their way from deck 16 down to deck 6 over the next few days/weeks.

Meanwhile, the Perfect Storm water slides are 99.9% complete.
