Griffonluv
Here's a new wooden coaster that I'm working on. It's inspired by Boss. All wide supports, ledgers, crossovers, lateral supports, etc are custom. The only auto supports are the ones directly below the track.
coastb2
I will be glad to test it. Send it to gutenson@aol.com
Griffonluv
^Is this cool5? If so then sorry, you wouldn't like it cause it's not a jet coaster. I'll let you test my badass jettie once I start it though.
thethrillseeker
Nice! That looks insane!
KDcoasterMAN
Griffonluv, Top Notch. You should post this on KDFansite!
Griffonluv
Thanks guys. I plan on actually finishing this. (Unlike my last 5 coasters) And Cool5, I'm not doing it yet. Stay on this ride.
haux
Why are you doing custom lateral supports? I understand customizing supports in low turns or parts where the prefabs don't go, but why would you want to do the entire supports but the ones under the track? mcjaco
Just a FYI: I deleted the off topic, pointless Jet Coaster posts. You know who you are.....
Griffonluv
^Thanks Why are you doing custom lateral supports? I understand customizing supports in low turns or parts where the prefabs don't go, but why would you want to do the entire supports but the ones under the track? The track looks like crap and is pretty unrealistic if you don't put lateral supports at all. The ones under the track determine where catwalks go, and the default ledgers, and they serve as a guideline for the rest of the supports imo. Also, on another ride of mine I'm completely custom supporting it with even the supports under the track custom. It's going to be a long project... haux
I just meant why would you put custom lateral supports up when the program will automatically put them up when the track is at a certain height. What would possess you to all custom supports?
Griffonluv
The auto supporter doesn't make lateral supports at any height. It makes wide supports which help the ride stand vertically, but you need angled supports slanted towards the ride to keep the lateral forces tolerable. The ride looks a hell of a lot better with custom supports.
haux
I guess I'll just have to see what you're doing because I don't understand the difference between lateral supports and angled supports on the lift hill.
Griffonluv
Wide Supports Lateral Supports Basically, wide supports are almost always used whenever the track is non-banked. Lateral supports are needed to keep the track from moving to the left/right when banked.
Airtime&Gravity
Very nice job so far, and great job on the supports. The ride itself looks great with a good combination of drops and hills, although this coaster looks more like Fireball at Happy Valley than Boss. Great job so far, and can't wait to see the final design. Airtime - wow, I'm a dork &Gravity

It started with a strictly CCI mentality but then the shaping kinda drifted into the general wooden category. I guess I'm not going to name it by any specific company but it was inspired by Boss. Griffonluv
Update: Due to school and work, I haven't really had much time to work on this project. I've gotten to the crest of the lift hill with wide supports, and I've been working on the first turnaround's lateral supports. Here's a few pics of the turnaround. mightbeawannabe
It's great! Just like a late '90s terrain CCI! When is then expected release?
Griffonluv
I'm not definite on a release date but sometime next winter. I still have a lot to do.

Griffonluv
Umm... No there's not a trick track but I could mess with some areas and see what I can do. I can make 2 versions maybe.
CCJared
There's no point in modifying a track to please a minority. Your supports are looking good, how many steel beams you using for the crossovers?
Griffonluv
yeah. It's not working out anyways. And 2 cause it's a high lift so it needs more support imo
mightbeawannabe
Oh, by no means did I expect you to modify it! I was only asking because it was a CCI style woodie. Most of them had them when built, but were later removed (Mega Zeph RIP, Villain RIP).
