Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)

P. 358: Two new slides & more announced for Adventure Island!

Recommended Posts

I was looking into buying a Platinum Pass and had 2 questions after reading their website.

The bring a friend free tickets states "Free Guest Tickets: Valid for Silver, Gold, and Florida Platinum Passes. Limited per Pass Member per initial term to your choice of Florida park(s) of membership excluding Discovery Cove. Parking not included. Valid for one-time use per ticket for one Single-Day admission. Pass Members must accompany guests for entry."

Does anyone know if that means you get them every year you renew or just the first year? Intial term made me question if it was just a one time offer the first year.

I also saw you can't reserve 2 parks for the same day.  Has anyone been able to visit both Adventure Island and Busch Gardens Tampa on the same day if it was a low crowd day? I thought they might not turn you away from the second park if there was plenty of capacity.

If they change perks again next year, they will switch people over after a certain date.  So yeah, renew again, you'll get next year's perks.  If they keep it the same, you'll get a fresh batch of tickets when you renew.

Yes on both parks. Looks like plenty have gone to multiple parks without issue.  Almost remember seeing you can reserve a 2nd park on the morning of your initial reservation.  Almost like it's processed and you're cleared to reserve again.  Perhaps after they scan it.  Either way, you wont have a problem.

With Velocicoaster opening on June 10, I wonder if we will see an announcement for Iron Gwazi soon? Or maybe BGT doesn't care at all?

I imagine they are still dealing with the financial issues with RMC that were brought up last year. I can't think of another reason they're holding off opening such a highly anticipated coaster.

Parks are packed right now.  Why open something new?  I would imagine it ends up being mid/end May.

This.  Is Buch Gardens hitting their attendance cap?  If so, there's no incentive to open the ride right now if their attendance is already maxed out.

It stinks for people planning trips and it's a tease knowing they probably are ready to open, but it's in the park's best interests to ensure they get a proper ROI on their new attraction.  In the long run, it's better for us too since it'll help fund future additions.  I have to admit I am a bit skeptical of the "Anticipated 2021" wording.  I get not opening the ride in spring, but the fact they used anticipated instead of just saying 2021 makes me question how long they want to hold off.

Tease indeed. Planning has been quite a pain and when I finally pulled the trigger assuming this will be open....not so sure now esp with Universal doing a June opening : / Thing is I got limited income so if IG isnt gunna be open when I'm in FL I aint going. If Ice Breaker isnt open Im nixing Orlando fully to save time/$  but yeah the park has to do what it feels best, and the loss of my single admission isnt gunna break them XD

^Around Memorial Day, very.  Last year? Nope! On the weekends? Yes.  When exactly are you looking at?

Also note, that ALL parks this year seem to be VERY Crowded both due to pent up demand and lower capacity.

Never been to BGT, looking at visiting June 18-20 and just hoping that it'll be open. Orrrr just tell us when it'll open so I could plan a visit to Animal Kingdom or something instead. Really, if it's opening on Christmas that's great I just wish we knew soon haha.

^I completely agree.

I am visiting for the first time with my family on June 8-9. We are really crossing our fingers that Iron Gwazi will be open. Even if not, the lineup is already stellar - especially for first-time visitors.

the Kangaroo/Wallaby walkthru is great!

It's one of our favorite "non-ride" areas of the park.

you can feed em too.  . and they have this very helpful sign there to advise:

My kids went through the up charge Kangaroo insider tour on our most recent trip and it was really fun for them. Just a heads up but If you're interested in any of the insider tours book them as early as you can since the prices will go up. My oldest wanted to do the Sloth tour and about 3 months prior to our trip it was like $50, but then the week before it was all the way up to close to $90 (which is why we changed to the kangaroo tour for about $25 lol).

^It won't be terrible but many Florida schools are already out by then so keep that in mind.  For example, Orlando's last day for 200k students is May 25.  Tampa IS still in school that week.  Not as many 'school trips' for the end of the year but some schools and groups have started back up.  In other words, it won't be empty but it will be better than Summer, Spring Break, or Holidays.

Looking at 2 days at BGT, 1 at SWO. The three day ticket sounds like the best option, right? Has anyone else purchased? $132 seems like a great deal. Enjoy three parks for about $44/park at any combination of our theme parks: SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island.

Fine print - Ticket Details. Valid for three (3) visit to Florida Parks (SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa, and Adventure Island).

there's a free shuttle (at least used to be) between the parks too. .  so you can base camp in Tampa (cheaper than Orlando), and get to SWO without messing with traffic!

I think we did 4 day when we went (although the 4th was a 1/2 day before heading to the airport). . . but I remember the price being about the same as you note per park.

Seems like a pretty decent deal.  Would a platinum pass through Sea World San Antonio be another option?  It's a higher cost up front ($200) but it does get you free parking, food discounts, plus access to the other parks like the San Antonio location or Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

We went to SeaWorld Orlando on SWSA platinum passes last week.  No issues at all.  Preferred parking and in park discounts included in stores.  Encounters are not discounted.

Last I checked (just now) a SEAS Platinum Pass was $408 after taxes and fees, but yeah if you can get one for $200 I'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

I didn’t realize the San Antonio Platinum Pass was so cheap. I may consider that for some family members for next year instead of buying the Fun Card with BGT and Adventure Island that was $115 up until a few weeks ago so they can go to Sea World and Aquatica without using up all 6 bring a friend free tickets with my FL Platinum Pass.
