Quick question for those experienced with this park...

I'm planning on going to NorCal (for the first time) during the week between Christmas and New Years. On their website, it says they have "limited ride availability" days. It says to expect 5 major rides to be open, so I assume Undertow and Giant Dipper are part of that? Has it been like that in the past?

I'm hitting up SFDK and CGA, and I'd like to visit this park as well if the two major coasters are open. Thanks in advance!

Sorry Im late to answer this and you've already been there, but for others who may go on limited days I've seen that limited rides ALWAYS includes the 'Dipper, and ALMOST ALWAYS includes Undertow. The east end of the park is usually entirely closed on limited days. See photo:

Thank you for the information, although I didn't end up going. However I am almost certainly going to NorCal this July, but SCBB will likely have all of their rides open so it isn't an issue. Good to know though, in case this trip gets pushed back again until winter.

The new Fright Walk is COMPLETELY awesome! A lot of the effects were designed in-house and most of it's quite unique. Maybe not the world's scariest walk-through maze, but certainly an enjoyable one with plenty of jumps. The park recently posted a short behind-the-scenes "making of" video (possible spoilers):

Speaking of videos, the park also posted a really cool animated video of the park "springing" to life in a steampunk sort of way. It's hard to explain, but definitely worth a watch:

Here is a trip report for Saturday. We did the new ride from last year Typhoon, which is a pendulum swinging, upside down ride, reminiscent of Hammerhead at Discovery Kingdom. It was a lot of fun. Shockwave, another new ride from last year, is a circular spinning disc ride. It was an enjoyable ride that reminded me of Tiki Twirl at Great America. We also did the upcharge redesigned attraction Fright Walk, which was my first time doing it. It's a scary walk-through maze experience that's dark and mysterious - filled with multiple doors you have to choose from, eerie sound effects, and things that pop out taking you by surprise.

I had the same exact visit in October last year. I only wanted to try out the new stuff. All three new attractions were awesome. No gripes at all. The new Fright Walk was really great. Can't wait to visit this summer and do all the rides and the new Fright Walk again.

Definitely the best promotional giveaway I've ever gotten at a game! Has to be used by 6/29, but that's fine with me as I was planning to visit the park this month anyway, yahoo!

SCBB also sponsored the fanny pack giveaway tonight, and the Giants were giving away SCBB shirts all night. Very cool promotion!

Went down to CGA to check out the RailBlazer new hotness Sunday so as long as I'm 2/3 the way to Santa Cruz of course I'm going to visit the Boardwalk as well! Especially as I recently picked up that free wristband pass at the Giants game! The park appeared pretty busy when I first got there, but being Sunday night it emptied out before too long. I realized it's actually been about 26 years since I've been to SCBB at night, so quite a treat for me. I live a good 3 hours from the park, so if I stay until night time, it's a long dark drive home through the mountains, so I don't do it often. Weather was great though, especially after it was 105 at home and even pretty hot earlier in the day in Santa Clara. The overcast and breezy weather was refreshing.

So I didn't notice this before. Outside the coaster is shown to be the 6th oldest in the US.

Inside it is now the 5th oldest. Which of the top 5 went down? I don't remember hearing about that.

Wow, great photos. I know it's been a couple years...literally. Anyways, SCBB is scheduled to re-open with new covid-19 guidelines on Nov 7th. Limited rides will be open and working with I believe 25% capacity all around. Wether it be indoors or outdoors, masks will be required everywhere unless eating.

Ride ticket purchases will also be limited to Santa Clara County residents, per state guidelines.
