Dedicated Server Hosting Providers - Suggestions Needed!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am researching a new dedicated server hosting company for TPR. Can you please let me know if you are aware of any companies with a good track record?

We are looking for a dedicated server (NOT a shared hosting company) that is fully managed by the server company.

The server would need to be very high end as far as system specs go with a lot of bandwidth covered (about 2-3tb per month) with about 1tb of hard drive storage.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Thank you!

Robb, are you looking at Windows or Linux servers?

Do you have a preference of country?

I know that in the UK, Rackspace fares fairly well with generally favourable reviews. The problem is that is a seriously powerful server you're talking about, I'm sure most companies will make one for you, but are unlikely to have any that powerful pre-configured.

I've been using DreamHost.com's dedicated servers for three years now (my fourth starts on the 15th), and I've never once had a problem with them. If you want to read more about them, the link is: http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting-dedicated.html

I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking at a place to move the site to, as their tech support is great, and best of all, they speak English!

I've been a developer for several years now and have hosted sites at a variety of places. I have to say that Liquid Web has been by far the best hosting provider I've worked with, and many of my co-workers have said the same. They've been able to sort out any of my server issues within a few minutes on the phone, and I'm never on hold. After the initial call, they keep up with me via email or calling me back. They have never left me hanging wondering what's going on. They're very reliable and have a large operation going. http://www.liquidweb.com/

Also, media temple seems to be favored highly by a few of the clients I've worked with. I've found they have a somewhat clumsy management system to work through (on smaller set-ups, at least), but they also have good support and reliability. http://mediatemple.net/
