robinschroder
- Favorite new coaster - Most memorable park moment - Most memorable coaster moment - Best ERT session - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced - Favorite new ride - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? - The decade's biggest success OK, I'm grouping these all together just to say let's hear it for Intamin's Prefabricated Woodies - my personal stars of this decade! 2001 - Colossos (Heide Park) 2003 - Balder (Liseberg) 2006 - El Toro (Six Flags Great Adventure) 2008 - T-Express (Everland) I've only managed to ride 2 of the 4 so far (Colossos and Balder) - but, wow, they sure are great rides!! I can't wait to see what Intamin come up with next using this winning formula! None of them have left the top 17 from Mitch's poll since their construction - the top 7 if you don't include Colossos. Riding Balder with TPR earlier this year was just the most incredible day ever - unbelievably good!! Balder, I salute you! At the risk of going overboard with praise for Intamin, another special mention must go out to Expedition GeForce (opened 2001) for providing me with so many close runner-up moments to those I had on Balder. I've been lucky enough to visit Holiday Park 4 times this decade. GeForce, you've definitely not seen the last of me yet - of that there's no doubt! - Least favorite coaster - Least favorite ride In 2004, I made it out to Cedar Point from the UK and, amongst discovering the power of Intamin for the first time (via Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster - oops, there I go again; I genuinely do like rides by other manufacturers too!), I rode my first woodie - Mean Streak. Whilst built in 1991, I still count this as a huge personal low point for this decade. Ouch! My back's never been quite the same... - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) Finally, a huge shout out to Robb and Elissa for making TPR what it is. Where to begin? The opening of the forums in 2005? All of this decade's amazing updates, pictures, videos and DVDs? Starting up the TPR trips in 2006? All of the hard work, love and attention that's put in to the site, moving it from strength to strength? Robb and Elissa, I salute you!

matteocrepaldi
First I have to say that ten years ago I was totally scared of roller coasters but something changed and now I'm a coaster enthusiast with a 160+ coaster count. - Favorite new coaster MAVERICK; - Favorite new ride HURAKAN CONDOR (Port Aventura); - Favorite new park I guess that the newest park I've been to is Parque Warner in Madrid which opened in 2002. - Most memorable park moment Blackpool Pleasure Beach with my friends from Theparks.it in 2006! - Most memorable coaster moment First time I rode Silver Star. viking86
- Favorite new coaster El Toro/Storm Runner - Favorite new ride Starflyer @ Prater Park - Favorite new park Warner Bros Movie World Madrid - Most memorable park moment Unfortunately its not a positive one. Shutting down every outdoor ride at SFGADV for 90 mins because of some thunderstorms far away. Above the park it was nothing but sun and clear skies. - Most memorable coaster moment I cant decide between riding Wild Train @ Strasswalchen 37 times in one day or riding Thundercoaster in the rain in april 2006. Wild Train was tons of fun, while Thundercoaster in the rain was just the most insane coaster experience ever. Riding Kingda Ka in the front seat is also one of the highlights, although it was mostly a blur. - Best ERT session ERT on Wild Train @ Strasswalchen followed by ERT on the bumper cars with the funniest park manager ever. - Least favorite coaster Magnus Colossus - Least favorite ride The Mondial Roll-Over @ Tusenfryd. I was not surprised that it was removed fairly quickly. There was also an accident where a rider fell off the ride and was injured. - Least favorite park Movie Studios Park, Italy. I know TPR had a blast, but the fact that we had to spend half an hour on each ride waiting for it to open didnt make it a great day. - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced Intamin ball coaster - Least interesting ride you've seen intoduced Many of the B&M's built the last 10 years havent really been very interesting, but there are a few exceptions. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) Getting my Gröna Lund trip report on the front page. - The decade's biggest flop Son of Beast - The decade's biggest success Intamin - The best/worst meal you've had at a park Cant remember having any particularely memorable meals at parks, but the food at Knoebels was really good value for its low price. Chris Benvenuto
- Favorite new coaster El Toro, Six Flags Great Adventure. Win ride filled with WIN!!!!! - Favorite new ride Ugh, so many where built that I like and forgot about. - Favorite new park I didn't really pay attention to this part of the scene. - Most memorable park moment If you're saying personally? Well, going to Kings Island in early April and arriving the find the park empty and wet after a rainstorm. EDIT: and also, me and my dad had several moments with a decent trip throughout the eastern midwest through August. - Most memorable coaster moment Same park, Kings Island, we had 2 1/2 hrs before closing and I got on 7 coasters in that period. Plus, rerides on FOF and Face/Off - Least favorite coaster Son of Beast, even at night the ride is terrible. Too bad's the loop is gone - Least favorite park Dorney Park, only because of the hill that park is built sideways on. It's annoying to walk up, down, up, down and over and over again to see and ride different rides. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) The East Coast trip was fun to follow and read. It looked like alot of fun. - The decade's biggest flop Hard Rock/Freestyle Music park - The worst meal you've had at a park Cheeseburger I had at HersheyPark, forgot where it was, but it was so dry and disgusting. I think it was near the waterpark, and towards Lightning Racer. - Best park turnaround Well, for some of the Six Flags parks they rebuilt and the chain reorganized decently enough. Not the best, but they've picked up and rebuilt. - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? I'd have to say the sudden burst of Rocket Coasters all over the US and Europe. Divv3k
This is more of a review of the last four or five years for me since I've only really been an enthusiast since 2005, but I'm sure I'll have some stuff to say! - Favorite new coaster Balder! Balder! Balder! - Favorite new ride As far as non-coasters go I'd probably say Valhalla, although I'm probably forgetting some Disney or Universal amazingness that opened this decade. - Favorite new park I can't think of a new park that opened this decade that I visited and really loved. As far as new-to-me parks go then IOA would be the top of the list. - Most memorable park moment The first thing that sprung to my mind when I read this question was Larry falling on his arse at the punching bag in Linnanmaki! So let's go with that! Special mention to experiencing the Terror of the Towers with Scottish Steve! - Most memorable coaster moment Riding Balder at midnight in 2006 and thinking it was the most amazing thing ever only to have that ride emulated and bettered in 2009! - Best ERT session Getting strapped in and not allowed to leave Expedition GeForce on the 2008 Europe Trip! - Least favorite coaster Son of Beast on the Midwest trip! Although a perverse part of me is really glad I had this horrifying experience! - Least favorite park That's a tough one. I usually find something I like about every park I visit. As far as least satisfying I'd say M&Ds since there really is not much good stuff there to ride at all! - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced It has to be Intamin prefab woodies! - Least interesting ride you've seen introduced The Mack e-Motion coaster. Pointless. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) Lou's 2007 Year in Review. - The decade's biggest flop Vertigo at Walibi Belgium! - The best meal you've had at a park The BBQ Steak Burger thing I had at Mythos was amazing! I'd also like to mention Hansa Park and their bacon wrapped asparagus! - The worst meal you've had at a park Don't order fish and chips from Skara Sommerland. Even if it's free. - Best park turnaround I think you've got to give credit to Thorpe Park for becoming the thrill seeker destination that it has in the last ten years. Even if I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the rides it really has turned into something completely different from what it was a decade ago! - Worst park turnaround Blackpool Pleasure Beach, it feels like a different park now from the place I loved as I child. - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? It seemed at the start of the decade the trend was all about setting records whereas the trend now seems to be about created more family orientated rides that offer fun to everyone! It'll be fun to look back to now in ten years time to see how much things have changed! Bring on 2010 and beyond!

cfc
Hmm . . . let's see . . . - Favorite new coaster Balder (Liseberg)--this ride not only has awesome airtime from start to finish, but can cure a head cold - Favorite new ride Journey to the Center of the Earth (DisneySea)--gotta love the lava monster and elaborate queue (Adventures of Spider-man at IOA and MIB at Universal Orlando merit honorable mentions) - Favorite new park DisneySea--the best thing that Disney has ever done - Most memorable park moment Walking though the entrance of DisneySea and seeing the enormous lagoon and volcano--quite a sight - Most memorable coaster moment Being hulred over the first drop of El Toro--a great "holy crap!" moment - Best ERT session Blader (both in '06 and '09)--you just can't beat hammers, snacks, hats, bunny ears, and beer (Toverland ERT in '08 is a close second, and it also involved beer . . . hmm . . .) - Least favorite coaster Space Mountain (Paris Disneyland)--Disney needs to rip this thing down and start over - Least favorite ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Disneyland in California)--never thought I'd miss the Country Bear Jamboree - Least favorite park FujiQ--lousy operations, bad selection of rides, wretched food, no desire to return - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced Insane (Intamin Zac Spin)--I thought I'd hate this, but ended up loving it (Tranan at Skara Sommerland gets an honorable mention) - Least interesting ride you've seen intoduced Standard Disk-os (although I kind of like the "Survivor" type Disk-os)--just not my thing, but I understand why other people like them - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) "Pass the sword" on Falken during the '09 Scandi trip--a great, spontaneous event that could only happen when TPR is involved - The decade's biggest flop Hard Freestyle Rock Music Park--a poorly conceived (if nice) park that is being mismanaged into oblivion - The decade's biggest success Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom (despite the problems with the Yeti)--just what this park needed (and a good example of what a Disney coaster is all about) - The best meal you've had at a park The three-course lunch at Magellan's at DisneySea--the creme brulee kicked butt - The worst meal you've had at a park Fried chicken at the Country Kitchen in Kings Dominion--actually had to run to a nearby restroom to puke after eating one piece (the FujiQ "burger" gets a dishonorable mention, as well) - Best park turnaround Although I don't have a strong basis for comparison, I'd say the Disney Studios park in Paris (a very pleasant surprise on the '08 Europe Trip) - Worst park turnaround Kings Dominion--Dominator is a very good addition, but the park still seems a bit dispirited (I have high hopes for Intimidator, though) - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? Hmm--probably the proliferation of Towers of Terror at Disney parks worldwide and the rise of Vekoma (whose rides are steadily improving)
ginzo
Favorite new coaster: Balder. Most memorable park moment: Eating dinner at Blue Bayou after getting married. Also, that was one of my first experiences with getting a decent meal at a park. Most memorable coaster moment: El Toro's first drop in the back row. Best ERT session: Three way tie between Expedition GeForce with TPR 2008 and Balder with TPR 2009 and Tele2 Insane with TPR 2009. Least favorite coaster: Son of Beast. KI could have used that money to build something good. Least favorite park: Clementon Lake. What a dump! Most interesting ride you've seen introduced: Tele2 Insane. Least interesting ride you've seen intoduced: Any time a Vekoma Boomerang or SLC was moved and opened up as a "new" coaster. Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!): The entire Scandinavia Trip was my favorite TPR experience. R&E really outdid themselves in planning it. The parks were consistently excellent as was the general treatment we received from the parks. The decade's biggest flop: Hard Rock Park. They built a $400 million park that nobody wants to go to. The decade's biggest success: Disney Parks firmly holding their lead in attendance. The best meal you've had at a park: EPCOT Food & Wine Festival 2008 and 2009. The worst meal you've had at a park: Most counter service at Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks. That food isn't fit for pigs. Best park turnaround: Possibly DCA. It's nice to see the park finally get the capital it needed. Worst park turnaround: Re-opening Hard Rock Park as a cheap knock off of its former self. What was the biggest trend of this past decade: Huge money problems all around. Lots of park closings and sales. Favorite Independent Park: Knoebels. After visiting three years in a row, this park never fails to impress me with how well they hold their own against all the mega parks with infinitely more resources. Basic rides run at their best (Phoenix, Skooters, Flyers) can match all the fancy toys Universal and Disney can dream up.

Kingdom. A disgrace to Myrtle Beach, SC. - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced The X2/4th dimension rides are very interesting..also coasters like kingda Ka and TTD. - Least interesting ride you've seen intoduced Any kiddie ride. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) All of TPR! - The decade's biggest flop The retheming of Hard Rock Park. Not the park itself, but the "more family friendly" crap. - The decade's biggest success Articulated Wooden Coaster Trains - The best meal you've had at a park Disney's Hollywood Studio's 50's Prime time Cafe S'mores Dessert! Yumm! - The worst meal you've had at a park Some grotesque sandwich I had up at SFGAdv - Best park turnaround Freestly Music Park attendence. - Worst park turnaround Geauga. La. DarkStitch626
- Favorite new coaster- El Toro GADV. - Favorite new ride/coaster- Kawisami. - Favorite new ride- Watching Intimidater be built. - Favorite new park- Hard Ro...I mean FreeStyle Music Park. - Most memorable park moment- TPR Deep South Carowinds - Most memorable coaster moment- Riding Hurler at Carowinds with its new trim break and LOVING IT. - Best ERT session- Viper GADV SOLO 46 rides. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) This would have to be ANY Japan/Asia video TPR has introduced because of how wacky everyone can be and the culture. - The decade's biggest flop- Can I PLEASE Say Turbulence at Hershey park? - The decade's biggest success- To me I guess I'd have to say this would be the introduction of the new B&M Hyper trains. That or the new B&M Dive Coasters. - The best meal you've had at a park- Cinnamon bread , Dollywood Need I speak more? - The worst meal you've had at a park- Johny Rockets..SF parks this place SUCKS. - Best park turnaround- Freestyle Music park. - Worst park turnaround- Well Seeing the new six flags management yes there were subtle improvements but It still felt like the same old six flags. Pricing etc still sucks, and they OVER USE LCD screens in the park for crappy advertising. My biggest WTF is more of why in the blue ball'd heck do you need to pay that much to get into a park and you see more kids playing WII/Xbox or using the parks Wifi than on the rides?? dandaman
Of the ones I can actually talk about: - Favorite new coaster: Maverick (western themeing always gets me) - Favorite new ride: Any of the Intamin drop towers (though they still scare the bejesus outta me) - Favorite new park: Islands of Adventure (of the one's I just visited this decade) - Most memorable park moment: all of Behemoth Bash - Most memorable coaster moment: riding with Robb on The Mighty Canadian Spinebuster ("This is the only ride where I could actually feel my balls clacking together like a Newton's cradle!") - Best ERT session: Behemoth/Vortex at night (seeing a trend here?) - Least favorite coaster: Minebuster (its only saving grace was mentioned above) - Least favorite ride: Backlot Tour Is Closed - Least favorite park: None, to be honest. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!): all of the videos where A) everyone laughs deliriously, or B) Robb shouts well-deserved obscenities on horrible rides. - The decade's biggest flop: Hard Rock / Freestyle Music Park (though I wish I could actually visit to have better authority on that) - The best meal you've had at a park: Le Cellier, Epcot (can't go wrong with maple filet mignon and cheddar cheese soup) - The worst meal you've had at a park: Most of Cedar Point's counter food - Best park turnaround: Most of the Six Flags chain. Visiting Worlds of Adventure in 2002 and Great America in 2009 was like night and day. ----------------------- I can't thank the moderators and members of TPR nearly enough for all of the good times they've given me, mostly online, but for one day last year at an actual park also, which will NEVER be forgotten. Joining TPR was one of the best decisions I've made this decade, and I have not a shred of doubt in my mind that this site will continue to prosper and grow, so long as its awesome supporters keep on keepin' on.
