MG
Hey everyone, This is a TPR of a trip I just got back from WDW with my family. We stayed at the Radisson and had a fantastic time. The TPR is in four parts. 1) Magic Kingdom 2)Animal Kingdom 3) Epcot 4) Disney's Hollywood Studios See ya real soon folks!
MG
1) The Magic Kingdom It has been nearly ten years since I was at Disney and I was very impressed. Queues weren't too bad but it often feels quite crowded. Unfortunately Space Mountain is closed for renovations but no great loss. My favorite ride was easily Splash Mountain, it is fantastic. Philarmagic was also awesome, I think it is the best 4D show in the whole of Disney. However I did find many of the rides quite hard to find at times as they are often tucked away in a corner. And onto the photos.... Hidden Mickey? Onwards to the Animal Kingdom! Philarmagic Flying Dumbos Park overview Gateway to Tomorow Land There were so many strollers at Disney, I have never seen so many in my life! This is the Night time spectromagic parade. It was really good but the photos don't really work for it! Parade finale Cinderella The star of the show WARNING, RODENTS HAVE BEEN DETECTED IN THE AREA! This years parade is the 'Celebrate a dream come true' parade. It was really good and the song was kinda catchy. High Five Walty my man Partners "It's a small world after all" I found this photo to be quite an arty shot. There was NO photoshopping in this! Cinderella's Castle looking beautiful in the morning sunlight. Welcome to the Magic Kingdom MMM, waffles for breakfast. I think it was the biggest breakfast I have ever eaten, I went for their biggest thing, I can't remember what it was called. The gateway to the Disney property. (Sidenote: the WDW comprises 23,000 acres, that is nearly half the size of Birmingham, UK) Welcome to the USA. (This flag pretty much filled the entire view from our hotel window. It was huge, even by Windsor Castle standards)
Godwyn
Nice report. I miss WDW. Even thou I just went to Disneyland on the West Coast Trip, its just not the same.
MG
Hey everyone, Sorry for the break between the posts. Just haven't got around to updating it so far! I absolutely loved the Animal Kingdom, it may have even been my favorite park. The park felt far more open and natural due to all the trees. Although there are not that many attractions there, the ones that are there are especially good. Expedition Everest is simply amazing in the scale of its themeing, as well as Kali River Rapids. Whilst many on this board dislike Dinosaur I personally thought it was a great ride with an original idea. However I thought Primevil Whirl was bumpy, jerky and a waste of time. This ride really did not live up to the usual Disney standard. Onto the photos! AND Mickey, somewhere hiding near the back Donald's Boat Donald *Comes with a free BBQ Goofy* She has a lot of luggage Minnie Mouse Rafiqi The Animal Kingdom parade - A more basic, light hearted, version of the Magic Kingdom one. The Tree of Life Everest in all its glory Lion King finale The Lion King show- this show was FANTASTIC!!! Africa area Elephant I present Butt of Giraffe Jumpy Deery Thingy Rhino All the scenery is fantastic at Expedition Everest
RedSpecial
Thanks for sharing these great photos. Brings back many great memories. I can still clearly recall being that impressed seeing the Lion King show we left the first performance of the day - ran right back round to see the second show of the day - very uplifting experience. Look forward to seeing your remaining photos and comments. Â Great shot of all of those strollers or pushchairs depending which side of the pond you live on. cprocks22
Thanks for the great TR so far. I was just at Disney World a little over a month ago and I already miss it. Such a great place. Keep the great pictures coming!!
Squid
I just have to say.... is that the same Waffle House that TPR went to for their October trip?!?!? It sure looks like it! Â Great pictures! I love the ones of the parades, especially the Celebrate Parade at MK. Â Squid

MG
EPCOT: Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow Hey Guys, thanks for all the compliments. Onto Epcot. When I visited Epcot about 10 years ago I thought it was a pointless dump. It is a hell of a lot better now, though still feels a bit odd. Half countries of the world, half future? Oh well! However when the attractions at Epcot were good they were miles above anything else. The scale of attractions such as Spaceship Earth, Soarin', Mission Space and The Universe of Energy was just astonishing. I think Soarin' was probably my favorite ride in the whole resort. On To The PHOTOS! "Here at Disney we like to be environmentally friendly" Illuminations: Reflections of Earth Ohh Ahhhh Germany More Venice Venice Zoom Nice view YUM - Funnel Cake, I'd never seen this before I came to WDW ... Land of the free apparently China Pretty Japan, I think? 90 DEGREES, sorry I only realized this while I was uploading it Gotta ask yourself the question, where are we now? Beautiful scenery Morroco Vive la Republique! Vive La France England - apparently The Universe of Energy - Also fantastic, if a little weird Mission Space - Fantastic Ride
televisedconfession
EPCOT is one of my favorite theme parks of all time. I think it's so unique and beautiful. Great pictures!
mcjaco
When I visited Epcot about 10 years ago I thought it was a pointless dump. BeemerBoy
When I visited Epcot about 10 years ago I thought it was a pointless dump. Â I don't speak British, so perhaps the term "pointless dump" actually translates to "park which did not necessarily meet up to expectations, and/or personal tastes in life"? Tiburon503
Epcot depresses me. Perhaps I'm jaded because I got to visit in the park's golden years (IMO 1985-1991) as a child. EPCOT Center was my favorite. I just feel the soul of Future World left with the destructions of Horizons, World of Motion, and Journey Into Imagination (Dreamfinder Edition). Â I'm sure members can take me to task, but I'm just citing my opinion. For me, Magic Kingdom is the only "must experience" WDW park. If Disney could borrow Universal's Delorean; I'd go back to 1991 when EPCOT rocked my world.
larrygator
^^ and ^^^ not everyone agrees with you EPCOT Fanboys' irrational love of Epcot. Â It's not my cup of tea either. "Pointless Dump" might be a little harsh. For quite some time I found Epcot "pointless" and just didn't get it. However, I never found it to be a dump. the ghost
This is a weird thing to say kind of, but I dont think people go to Epcot for the rides as much as the other parks. When we went to Epcot we did do quite a few rides, but we also ate.(A LOT) I can now say Taponedo(I literally have no idea how to spell it) is my second favorite resturant in the world(OHANA FTW) and the Burger I got in Canada was the best I ever had. Epcot has unique things like the aquarium, and I was extremely impressed with Ellen, but last time I found Ellen down right boring. Epcot is just not everyone cup of tea, but it is beautiful and unique and probably one of the most impressive parks I have seen(probably the only coasterless park I will ever enjoy.) Â Am I the only one who thinks mission space is really over rated? It may have been over hyped, but it was really forceful. Yet, unlike batman where I love the force/speed combo on mission space I just felt the force. Also, that mission space race at the end in the giftshop was surprsingly addicting. MG
Wow I think I've started a fanboy inferno! It was a bit of a throwaway comment really, though Epcot is imo much better now than it was ten years ago. However it still feels like two parks, not one. That is my biggest problem with it, it doesn't feel planned at all. As for the food, yeah some of it was nice. Was the food realistic of the cultures it was meant to represent, of course not. I know Disney is about seeing everything in a happy light, but I would imagine that some cultures would probably be quite surprised of the image painted of them at Epcot. Disney's Hollywood Studios will be coming in a couple of days!
natatomic
I visited Epcot for the first time in 2007, so I never got to see it in it's "golden years," but with what it is now, it IS my favorite park at WDW. However, when I read descriptions of Horizons and World of Motion, I think I would have loved it even more then in its heyday. Eh, to each his own. \ Â Anyway, nice trip report! MG
Disney's Hollywood Studios The last time I visited this place it was MGM studios. I think this probably felt the most crowded of the parks, but the attractions it provides are still world class. Rock'n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror are amazing. I think Fantasmic is probably the best open air show anywhere. The motor stunt show is more sophisticated than any other stunt show I have ever seen. Once again a final magical day at Disney, MG out. There is no God Or you're a Dinosaur, like Jeff If you don't know what this is then you had no childhood I loved this musical Yeah Yeah stop being such a drama queen Ooooohhh Pretty Boing Boing Anty SCREAM Ewww Bugs Monsters look scary mommy Toy Story 3 More TOY STORY!! tuxedomask5432
Wow, that was lots of fun to read and see. I've only been to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. However, the last time i was at EPCOT it was 1989 during its "golden years" I don't think that I can imagine what it must be like without Journey Into Imagination. My family spent HOURS in that attraction, due to the very unique interactive exhibits. I can't say that Horizons was all that interesting, so I don't believe I would miss that attraction. Overall, I think that EPCOT is not very interesting for children. It seemed like we were walking through an overgrown museum exhibit. But I'm glad you had a good time. MG
Hey everyone, thanks for all the great comments. I really wish that I had been alive when EPCOT was in its golden age, it sounded as if it was fantastic. Anyway, I have made a video and it will be on here SOON. It's made and ready to go but I am going to have to find a time to upload it since it is 234mb and when I tried earlier was only uploading at 25kb/s. So there is a video, but it's coming soon! TheRapidsNerd
Some great pictures! Love to see the Florida parks, including "the pointless dump". Â Kidding aside, glad you had a good time. That's important. Â Horizons and World of Motion, even Communicore East and West with the robotics displays, were fun attractions for their time. While I didn't really go for the car displays, I did enjoy the bird and robot show at WoM. Horizons talked about the future of technology at one point, and I remember thinking "I wish the future would hurry up and get here so I can see how this technology stuff turns out." Plus the bulding had a cool shape. Â Anyway, thanks for sharing these pictures...and be prepared for some good-natured ribbing over the "pointless dump" line. MG
Hey everyone. After battling against Coastertube, I have finally managed to upload the video of my time at Walt Disney World. The reason for the lack of video at EPCOT is that our camera was a bit dodgy and decided to pack up for the whole day. Oh well! Enjoy!
