ginzo
Dumb name. Would prefer them to continue using the Busch Entertainment name like they said they would, or at least should have gone with the Worlds of Discovery branding. It doesn't matter. Few guests will say: "Hey kids, want to go to the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment park up the street?" They're more likely to say: "Hey kids, want to go to Busch Gardens?" The names that matter ain't changin'.
Moose
Dumb name. While at first I thought the same thing, when you stop and think about it, it makes a bit more sense. I am guessing that keeping Busch in the name was off the table, and even if it wasn't it would be in Blackstone's interest to gain a name for themselves that was not dependant on someone else's brand. So what name that they currently have already has something behind it? Worlds of Discovery? I am sure if you asked anyone outside the themepark fan circle, that they would have no idea what that was. Seaworld on the other hand is well known all over the world. Also, in this press release it does not say that Busch is being removed from the park names, only the corporate name. It actually still mentions both Busch Gardens parks by that name.
robbalvey
Dumb name. Would prefer them to continue using the Busch Entertainment name like they said they would, or at least should have gone with the Worlds of Discovery branding. How is it a dumb name? I'm curious to follow your logic. Aren't there more "Sea Worlds" than there are "Busch Gardens?" And it's not like they are changing the name of the Busch Parks to "Sea World." Remember this is the CORPORATE NAME of the company that operates the parks. I don't think it's any more or less dumb than a Sea World park being owned by "Busch Entertainment" as it is a Busch Park being owned by "Sea World Entertainment." Dumb would have been going with calling the company "Worlds of Discovery" as no one knows what that is. One of the biggest challenges a corporation can face is having to re-brand themselves. And when you are forced to do so, you want to go with the path of least resistance and a brand that is most recognizable to as many consumers as possible. Again, remember, this is the CORPORATE NAME, they aren't changing the names of any parks. But please, share your logic with us. I like to know why you think it's dumb. Or do you just not like the name? --Robb
cfc
How about "Sea Worlds of Discovery"? I thought they'd go with "Worlds of Discovery" too, but I can see the logic of getting Sea World in there.
Homeboy23
I don't think it's any more or less dumb than a Sea World park being owned by "Busch Entertainment" as it is a Busch Park being owned by "Sea World Entertainment." That is the first thing that came to my mind when I read his post. I am on the bandwagon of the name doesn't mean a thing.

bgeguy
Yes, I understand that this is a corporate name, and most people aren't going to even call the parks by the corporate name' they'll still refer to them as just Busch or SeaWorld. If they went with SeaWorld Parks or something, that would have been fine. But the addition of "& Entertainment" just sounds weird. The previous name was just derived from the parent company, as it was created to run the orginial Busch parks. The Busch name is going nowhere as of now thanks to a long-term sponsorship agreement. There are also rumors form management and the A-B distributors that Busch III may have a small stake in the deal as a "silent partner." I much prefer the "Worlds fo Discovery" name for the parks' branding. However, the collective name for the parks has also been changed to SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. Oh well, it is what it is. TheRapidsNerd
This name thing reminds me of that press scene in Hard Day's Night: Reporter: "That's a fascinating hair style you have there. What do you call it?" Beatle: (deadpan) "Arthur."

The Disneylander
It doesn't matter what the corporate name is. If you think it's dumb, more power to you. If you think it's the best name in the world, more power to you too. It doesn't mean anything.

Philrad71
Great name and all..one can only hope that they put eels, sharks and killer whales in the Rhine River at BGE and just drop a flying coaster right into the dang thing. That would be all fine and dandy in my book. The one thing I'm struggling with was the post above the announcement: My 2 cents. It was a little strange having free beer samples at a family amusement park owned by a beer company. I understand having beer for sale at a few locations, but the beer focus was just wrong. What is wrong with focusing on free beer? It's beer....it's a delicious and FREE focus!!!!! It's like saying what is wrong with free sex or free cheese on a stick w/cheese dipping sauce! This comment and analogy...it, it, it...why, it just doesn't make any sense! PUHHLLLLEEEEAAASE bring back the free beer HappyGardensSeaBuschOnFireWorldCorp.Com...I don't care if it's Shamu pee in a bottle as long as it's at least 5% and has some hops in it! C'mon!!!!! Electerik
The name change makes sense to me. I do wonder what they might rename the two Busch Gardens park to, though. Personally, I'm pulling for LandWorld.
