Groteslurf Posted September 13, 2009 Author Share Posted September 13, 2009 Day 5, part 1 : Universal Studios Time to leave Universal. And to watch this. USH is quite small I must say. I expected it to be much bigger. So I had some time left to do some shopping at the boardwalk. This was a surprise. Waterworld While Six Flags the day before didn't manage to get me stand the heat, Universal did. Notice the difference with the picture early in the morning ? Hi there ! My favorite attraction at USH. Just look at the theming in this picture. It's just amazing. Help !! Backdraft. It didn't really impress me. The Simpsons ride. Though I don't really like most simulators, I liked this one. House of Horrors. Very nice theming inside, but not scary. Best room was the Chucky room. Disaster movie set. I actually don't recall the name of the movie at this moment. Was it War of the Worlds ? Psycho. With Norman Bates behind the window. Desperate housewives street. We did a small detour through Longbeach port. Flooding The first part with the fire and explosions was cool. The second part with the dancing cars was kinda weird. Fast and the Furious Backstage tour. About 50 people in 1 room . After this, we got ERT on the Mummy. First a few rides with the lights on, then a few with the lights off and effects on. In the dispatch room. Backstage at the Mummy But first a quick pic of me in front of Jurassic Park. First stop of the day. .... not sure whether I was already in bed at 3 am though Did I mention it was early ? But no problem, the backstage tour through the Mummy was absolutely worth it and also this view was amazing. I would have gotten out of bed at 3 am just to see this. TPR on our way to the Mummy Walking through an empty park again. I so loved that. TPR group waiting to enter the park. Universal Studios early in the morning. Not really the best ride of the trip. 'Riding this kiddie ?' Even the ride-op couldn't believe his eyes. I saw the GP thinking 'WTF is happening. A full bus of adults arriving at this park ?' In fact I think such combinations are a great idea. Imagine Pepsi hamburgers, Banana icecream chicken dips, and what ever can be combined, would be on the market. Wouldn't that be great ? Our ticket included the skyride so we took a ride. It's a pitty this ride isn't going over the park. Also respect to the 2 ride-ops at the dead end of the ride pushing the car back on the cable. Pink Shamu show. I don't know what it was. I remembered the Orlando one to be great. This one however was quite boring. Poncho, check. Ok ready to ride. Journey to Atlantis. I can only agree that the Orlando one is better. Robb groupie But first we visited the Wild Arctic part of the park. Journey Sealions stadium The skytower was the first ride of the day. That's better Ouch WCT overview Whristbands for the day. Flowrider ERT But time to head back to the park. While on a tight TPR trip schedule, I love those relaxing moments in between. Ample time so I went for a walk on the beach. We would have ERT on this coaster about 7-8 hours later on. Perfect wave thing But when there is a beach, the park is ok automatically. The backstage tour in the factory tour. Renata was without a doubt the nicest ride-op, castmember, parkemployee, ... we met on the trip. I still have to send her a postcard like she asked us. I'm certainly going to send one. This was very cool. But it was nice talking to Josh, Paul and Hans during the 40 minutes wait. The wait for this credit was probably the longest wait on the trip. .... Mega Shark ...vs... Giant octopussy ... Vegas We were lucky exactly that the day of our visit, this was taking place in front of eyes. And we could see those buildings in reality (see page 1 ) Exactly 1 week earlier, I was standing on the real one, looking at the real sealions The park had opened in the meanwhile so we took a look at all the miniatures. In the meanwhile I know the riders had to choose the intensity before getting on. Maybe I should have tried at least level 1. Other people on the trip looked like enjoying it. It looks like fun but also a bit painful. Because of the latter, I didn't ride it. It's such a weird attraction But for sure we got ERT on these things. I think we also got ERT on their dragon coaster. And ERT on the darkride We got ERT on 3 or 4 attractions, I actually don't remember. I think it was 4. One of the ERT attractions was this coaster. Darth Vader vs the Invisible Man I had never been to a Legoland park before, so didn't really know what to expect. Well, I expected Lego, and there was Lego. But the park was really nice. My family loves that place and judging by pictures and reviews the place has a great atmosphere. I also live only a few minutes away so the only thing holding me back is the admission price! larrygator Posted September 24, 2009 Share Posted September 24, 2009 ^I skipped the Windsor Legoland sidetrip on TPR trip to the UK in 2006 thinking I wouldn't enjoy it, but this year I enjoyed the Legoland in Denmark, with a bad hangover in pouring rain, so much that I'm biting the bullet and going the Legoland when I'm in California in two weeks. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's just a kiddie park. There were some things there (like Miniland) that fascinated me that I know would have bored my girlfriend's 5-year-old daughter to tears, and vice versa. Another great job, Benny! Ok, ok I'm very sporty and fast but still, it was a very small park but worth the 10 usd upcharge. Disco mirrorball fish or something like that. As you can see, Legoland is very nearby Jelly Belly's Since there was a Sealife center right next door to Legoland, I decided to pay a quick visit to that park. It actually already starts spinning on the lift hill. I didn't know what was happening. Their junior Looping Star, Looping Star, Looping Star, Looping Star, Looping Star, ... oh no, sorry. This thing is called Fire Ball TTD Most amazing minigolf I've ever seen. Alright, Castle Park making us vips when we entered the park. I like this park already. I always think it's a good way to judge the maintenance at the park. The windows of the skytower of Seaworld were perfectly clean and so were they at SFMM. But the ones at Knott's were really dirty and you could hardly take a decent picture through the windows. Ghostrider. I can imagine it was awesome in the first years, but now it's too painfull to enjoy it. Skytower pics. Plunge again. Why the hell didn't I ride it ;-( This ride was actually surprisingly long, very long. Bullet in blue sky Peoplemover This part of the park I thought was very nicely themed. Pony again It's a credit And another one of the Plunge thing Some more Silver Bullet pics But there was Rockstar. As I was in the meantime used to get the rockstar treatment at the parks, it was time to drink Rockstar. Pony Express. Quite short and I actually don't remember much of it so it obviously didn't impress me. In any case, Boosterbike at Toverland is much better. Also, a motorbike accelerates, a pony doesn't. At least, I haven't seen one so far. It looks great and it probably is great, but I didn't ride it. They were running 1 boat. 1 (ONE) BOAT !!! I should have ridden it right after parkopening because later on the day, the row was about 1 hour all the time. I heard other TPR trippers who rode it, telling afterwards that the ride-ops were even racking up the people for the next boat BEFORE checking the restraints of the boat still in the station ((((((( How efficient can one be ?? ERT is awesome ! But Xcelerator was better. Silver Bullet is a great ride.
