ebl
This was a great TR. It'd be nice if more parks offered such tours. They don't have to give away any "secrets," but allowing interested guests the opportunity to see how rides work would be really cool. BGE is a park that I've yet to visit, and, unfortunately, by the time I ever get there, I'll never get to ride Big Bad Wolf. Eric

atem122
Even though this TR was exponentially better, it's funny how I just found a video from GMA on someone who just took the tour Link But I must say that this was such an amazingly awesome in depth TR, it just makes me even more jealous that I live all the way across the country from this fantastic place
Pirouettes907
This was really awesome! I would love to be able to do something like that (nothing like getting toted up a 200+ lift backwards and walking around at the top to start your morning, I suppose!). Also, thanks for putting in those random tidbits of information, like the one about the mist from DarKastle being used to water plants. I love little things like that. Your TR was informative, full of nerd shots that made me gleeful and despite how much you seemed worried about your pictures turning out, they looked fine to me. Thanks for posting! ~Megan P.S. I believe you did spell Immelman right...except that it's Immelmans for a plural, not "Immelman's." The apostrophe doesn't belong for making this a plural. (Sorry, it's one of those grammar mistakes that really bugs me...but it in no way detracted from an otherwise fantastic TR!)

I have noticed a few typos and edited them out, and I will do the same with this. Also, the reason I was worried about the way they would come out is because the morning light made the pictures look terrible and washed out on the little digital screen, and I only really glanced through the thumbnails on my computer when I uploaded them. I was worried that some might be blurry or pale, so I apologized in advance. And yes, the top of Griffon did wake everyone up, considering it was about 8:30 am when we did it, and I had only gotten 3 hours of sleep the night before
coasterfreaksrttd
Fun thread! Does anyone know when Busch Gardens droppped the whole Africa/Europe name? It looks like they have gone back to the old Busch Gardens Tampa Bay as well as Busch Gardens Williamsburg names. Yeah, I don't know, but it certainly still has the Europe/Africa theme. slither37
Thanks for the great TR! THis is really a bargain when you consider all the coaster rides you can get in on the day of the tour. Once again, great trip report.

I've never been to the park but the behind the scenes pics are making me drool for it! Thanks for the unique look at the park. Thanks! And anyone who hasn't been to BGE need to go, it is an amazing park! It certainly makes my top ten. The theming is outstanding, the lines are short, the service is great, the food is delicious etc. Also, if you have any questions about the tour or any BGE coaster (I do know a lot about them) ask them in this thread! I will keep an eye on it to answer any question you guys might have. Thanks for the positive feedback. rawrtotheargh
Awesome TR!! Every photo of Griffon's road wheels reminded me of Goliath's. Since they both use Uremet. But looks like an AMAZING experience. Hopefully other parks will start to do this as well. And I think for 75 dollars it is an amazing deal. Glad you had fun. Yeah the tour guide mentioned that actually. He was listing some of the rides that used Urement, and I believe one of them was Goliath

HAZARD
I was there 2 weeks ago and they said BBW was comming down after labour day weekend. Personally I think They should take down Loch Ness. It was so rough at the bottom of both loops my neck was really jarred . still fellin the pain everyday. Leave BBW and take down Loch Ness, thats what I say. mrhambone
Awesome trip report! Got a question that has been bugging me for years. On Nessie, the maintenance bay is under the station. So - how do they get the trains into and out of the bay? Very curious!

Nessie isnt a maintenance nightmare like BBW is, if BBW didnt constantly need repair, it'd be up for much longer, it's not really a thrill issue. On Nessie, the maintenance bay is under the station. So - how do they get the trains into and out of the bay? Very curious! Well, there is a transfer track right next to the brake run. The train is guided up and out of the maintenance bay onto the transfer track, which pneumatically slides into place. And to the Loch Ness hater, try third row on the left

Leave BBW and take down Loch Ness, thats what I say. Yes, I am fond of both coasters :/... It's strange, one of the reasons that they are taking BBW down is that it has been around for 25 years, which is how long a coaster normally operates. The reason this strikes me as strange is that Nessie is going to be here for a while, but Nessie is older. Busch Gardens told me they were looking into a ride to replace it. They said they had a lot of options and they hadn't even come to a concrete decision about what company they were going to uses. I am hoping for an Intamin. If anyone knows anything, post it in the thread or PM me and don't forget to leave a comment about the TR
