Today, my Audi-dealer invited me to test the Audi R8 5.2 FSI.

OH MY GOD! ...what a bastard....!!!!

I know how to handle a powerful car, but after running the Highway with that Audi, you´re stuffed with Endorphin like a little boy after his first rock-concert!!!

While you´re driving, your allways have the V10-Motorblock behind you that indulges you with pure motor-power-porn-sound!!!

Once, you pushed the kick-down, that car pushes you forward like Kingda-Ka, and all you want to do at this moment is to go fast, fast and fast!

A great car!!!

  • 3 months later...

I got a new ride. I still have my Malibu, but it has been downgraded to occasional use until gas gets above 3 dollars a gallon.

It is a 99 Jeep Cherokee, I got it for 2,000. It has 148k on it, but that is barely broke in. Some of the things I need to fix is the transfer case (needs replaced due to one setting not working {about 500 dollars}), New struts up front atleast, fix the power lock mechanical part in the drivers door and program the remote. Besides that, nothing is majorily wrong with it. 4wd still works and it sounds and runs great.

Some of the things I am doing to it in the near to far future.

*kayak racks (hopefully Friday)

*new tires

*2-3 inch suspension lift

*custom front and rear bumpers

*new rims (to replace the rusty ones on it)

*off road lights

*quick disconnects for the sway bars

I don't plan on doing heavy off roading, but would like to do some light wheeling. I can't do anything until I get the transfer case fixed. IT won't go into full time 4wd mode. I can get a used transfer case for 300 and get someone to install it for 200.

The only downside to this vehicle, gas mileage. I knew buying it, it didn't get the same gas mpg as my car, wasn't prepared for a 50 dollar fill up at 2.50 a gallon. I get about 19 mpg mixed driving, which isn't bad.

Right now, I drive a 1997 Ford Ranger and we bought it brand new twelve years ago. It's and ok truck, and it's been through a lot so far this year. What I don't like about it is the fact it's so light that it can't even make it up steep dirt roads. But it's better than nothing. I'm saving up for a 1993 Mustang Hatchback. My friend is saving her's for me to buy next year when I have the money.

Here we go...

If things go as planned... I will be driving one of these shortly. A 2009 Subaru Outback Wagon.

Add a Thule cargo box on the top that I can throw my snowboards and travel gear in and a trailer hitch mounted bike rack, and I'm good to go!

I have been driving this 2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES for the past 4 years.

She has treated me well. She has taken me to 16 different states. I put A LOT of miles in this thing.

^^ You're 16 and you own two vehicles?

^ Because you like Mercedes or Audi better? I could strap a rocket to the back of my car and achieve 10,000hp, but that doesn't make it a better automobile.

People who can afford to drop 100+k on a car, aren't generally researching the internet for the best hp/$ ratio. They see what they like, and they buy it. Simple as that. Oh, and I'll bet the house that the speedometer on whatever car they buy will NEVER top out.

Why the hell would you get a mercedes or r8 or w/e that cost in the mid 100 thousands when you can get a Cadillac CTS-V for 80,000 bucks that has 556hp and 0-60mph in 3.9 secs.

For the same price you can get a Nissan GT-R which has approx. 480 hp, does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, and can take the Ring incredibly fast.

I'd like to see the Caddy even try to turn any direction, I doubt it will do that well.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the CTS-V ran the 'ring faster than the M5, so I'm betting that it can take corners pretty well if it tops the M's. I think the only thing bad Jeremy Clarkson had to say about it was the stupid Americanisms about it

Don't sleep on the car just cause its American, I'd personally rather have the Cadillac than the GT-R

The thing about a GTR though is that its impossible to get one. And Grandpa got a CTSV...he got a local racetrack trust me...its fast, hp is huge engine huge turbocharger is great! It handles great too!!

And I have two vehicles because I got a new G6 for a car, but then a few weeks ago i found the Land Rover and i liked it A LOT so i dont use the pontiac anymore. Land Rover sucks on gas...13/17 prem. but it so better with room and cargo space!! I love them both!!

If you disable TC, you void your factory warrenty.

Well is it like many cars where you have to press a button on the dash, or do you have to do serious tinkering with the computers? Cause one I could understand, but if they make it easy to do then that's stupid

I've seen the same GTR several times by my house. It's silver and is driven by a 17 year old girl. She's basically my friend's dream girl lol.

I myself have the great fortune of driving a 1994 Honda Accord. Cordelia is her name lol. She's still going strong with 132,000 miles on her although she's starting to get tired. Currently only the left two speakers work (and not very well at that), the cruise control is broken, the cigarette lighter is broken, the knob to change the temperature is broken (I turn the knob using plyers), the antenna is bent and causes the radio to come in poorly, back passenger side door handle is broken off, the interior lights are missing their casings, both back wheel wells are rusting, the door frames are rusting, the brake line rusted through and broke on me when I was stopping at an intersection, the emergency brake gets stuck when used, the hood latch is broken so when you open it it takes quite a bit of finagling to get it back into place, the driver side rearview mirror broke off and is bolted back on, there is a large scrape down the side of the car from where my brother's rearview mirror slid along it as he backed out of our driveway, the front and back bumpers are dinged and chipped (none of which is from me, I've never bumped anything in my life), and the paint is chipping on the entire car. Other than that though, it's fine lol. Although all this is wrong with it, I'm going to miss her when she finally does go. And that's probably not going to be too far into the future.

It has broken down three times since we've had it, two of which had to do with a broken distributor that caused the engine to shut off randomly, and once for a hole in the exhaust due to rust, and my dad said next time is the last time he's willing to put money into it. He's looking to pass on his 2005 Sonata to replace the Accord as he is looking into buying a new car soon. I'm fine with that as I currently only have 500 dollars to my name and would love to drive that car. He's looking into a number of options. One is selling his heavily-modified 92 Mustang GT and getting a new Camaro 2SS or doing the responsible thing and passing down his Sonata and buying a V8 powered Genesis. In theory I like option one more since the Camaro he's looking at is a black on black one that is quite sexy, but option two makes more sense for my family's everyday needs. If only both could happen lol.

I have heard about the GT-R, if you want to launch it, you have to disable TC. If you disable TC, you void your factory warrenty. Also, after 3 or so launches, the tranny is shot.

False.

All new GT-R's come with a different launch control setting that IS covered by warranty. It launches at a lower RPM, which eliminates the wheel chirp that caused the gearbox failures. Also, all 2009 GT-R's are able to accept the updated software. It makes the 0-60 about 3.4 seconds, but still you can launch ALL day and if something goes wrong it's covered.

My friend has one, and I've driven it. Everything about it just feels so correct, it's such a proper car.

It was a button on the dash, but apparently, they fixed the problem.

Thanks to youtube and car forums.

Also false. You have to put the suspension in race mode, traction control off, and the VDC off. It's not just a button, and it's not explained in the owners manual.

^^Lol, yes I am sure. I am a car guy, so seeing the GTR was a sight to behold lol. Then my friend told me about a girl he knew of that had a silver one and I told him I had seen her. Then later that night we saw it again when going to the movies. The sound was amazing.

I just got the new Motor Trend today and it says Nissan removed Launch Control from the 2010 models. According to them this subtraction resulted in only three tenths of a second loss in it's 0-60 time.

The Cadillac CTS-V holds the record at the Nurburgring for the fastest production sedan at the racetrack. With a company exec at the wheel (not even a pro racecar driver) it posted a laptime of 7:59.

The GT-R is a great car but you can buy a CTS-V and tell the missus it's a family sedan.

^Just as a little FYI, the Porsche Panamera beat the CTS-V by 3 seconds around the Nurburgring, but as you said, the CTS-V wasn't driven by a professional and they only did one hot lap and called it a day. The CTS-V is an extremely impressive car and is frankly one of the only vehicles I would even consider ever buying (if I had money that is lol) from GM.

but dude, the nurburgring is just a drag strip. It doesn't have any corners

I didn't even realize the Panamera was available yet till I saw an advertisement yesterday. I'll pass, gimme a 911
